My Message To The Draw Fixers Empty My Message To The Draw Fixers

Post by hawkeye Thu 12 Jul 2012, 3:16 pm

What should the draw fixers (if they exist Pfft!) fix now with Nadal slipping to 3rd place in the rankings. What the draw fixers want is to make the most people happy and they do this by doing their best to get a Federer Nadal final particularly at a slam. So my message to the draw fixers is obvious they need to be put them in opposite sides of the draw. If the draw works out (thank's again Lucas...) there is no way you want one half of the draw weighed down with 29 slams and the other side with a measly 5! Not to mention the last two slam winners on the same side of the draw. It would just be... well it would just be wrong.

Federer should get Murray. Murray will be upset at the mere prospect of seeing Roger at the other side of the net so Federer would have a good chance of going through.

It's Nadal's own fault for slipping to three so he can have no more favorable draws. That should please a few people too! He will just have to slug it out with Novak. This will be more tricky but IMO he has a good chance now he's beaten Djokovic in their last three finals.

This will give the best chance to make everyone happy... well obviously not everyone. Failing draw fixers I'm going to resort to crossing fingers. It has worked in the past.

Should George Bastl (a lucky loser) been put in Sampras's (13 slams at that time) path @W 2002? chin.

Should the Challenge round be resurrected, perhaps?

Lukas Rosol doesn't care who he gets drawn with.

If you put Rafa, Djoko and JMDP in the same half, they balance out nicely with Fed.

laverfan. I didn't watch mens tennis during the Sampras years Zzzz but I guess Bastl was the equivalent of Lucas. There is nothing draw fixers can do about such happenings. Even the top players response to such things is to laugh and move on... well as long as it doesn't happen to them.

The draw fixers should concentrate on fixing things that have more chance of affecting the result (if they exist that is).

Ok! Are you a draw fixer? If so can we take that as a deal?

laverfan. Resurrecting the challenge round would be of no use. It only puts one player in the final. The other one would have to slug it out through the rounds. It would not perhaps produce the best tennis in the final presuming the other one got there. Thank's for the offer though...

Yep, 17 on either side.

My big hope is for Rafa and Novak to be paired at the USO. I have a vision of Federer getting through his semi-final early on and sitting back on Stupid Saturday night to watch the other two play for 6+ hours, with the ragged remenents of the survivor served up the following evening.

My big hope would for both Federer and Nadal to get to the final unhampered by physical problems, neither to have had an unfair advantage in the draw (well apart from Rafa having to play Novak), both to have spent a similar time on court and for the final NO rain. What is it about the US Open's regular monsoon on finals day?

This would give them the best chance of producing some spectacular tennis. The sort of tennis that IMO they only produce against each other. I wouldn't mind either winning but if I'm honest my guess is it would be Nadal. Sorry Bogbrush but you must know this if you were hoping for the 6 hour marathon etc. For this I'm willing to optimistically (as ever) keep my fingers crossed.

I will post in the next comment a thread on another forum where this has been discussed. However if for any reason the moderators remove the link just go to a well known forum and look under last commented for an article on this topic.

The US could be the best venue for Fed and Rafa to meet. They've never met there, and it would be more balanced than at AO or FO where Rafa has a combined lead of about 7-0 or something like that.

The exact same article was written by NiTB. I am surprised that a certain 'shrewd observer' of the game is so myopic. Laugh (and I am not referring to NiTB Wink ).

HE... I am not referring to this article, but to the link that HB provided. Also, Summerblues has clearly stated his objections. Apparently, some posters have convinced each other that there is draw fixing, despite Summerblues's objections.

Very Interesting.

Sorry for the misunderstanding laverfan.

HenmanBill. Why are you using my article to link to an unrelated topic that might get confused with mine? And might imply that I am in agreement with the views expressed in the article linked from another site...

What makes you so sure that Federer's semi-final would be first up?

Calder is part of the 'secret' Order of Fixers, and knows. Run

I did say it was a "big hope".

Then again, isn't it about time that he wasn't 2nd up on Stupid Saturday?
