French Open -> Wimby. 3 week gap from 2015
See early report here http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/tennis/18913701
Sensible decision - presumably a rest week after the FO, before Queens/Halle.

Probably about time! It was quite some feat for Borg to win the double so many times, for Rafa to do it twice, TMF once and for Nadal and Federer to compete in both finals year after year.
Makes the double a little bit more doable from now on.

Great to see it's happening, although why it's going to need 3 years, I'm not sure of, surely 2014 would have been possible rather than 2015? Things really do progress rather slowly @ Wimbledon...

Making what was once almost impossible easier again.

Or making what Borg, Nadal and Federer did unobtainable...

Borgs achievement is far greater than Federer & Nadals. He won it when grass and clay we're at the opposite ends of the spectrum of tennis.

AFAIK, Borg never actually bothered to play an official grass warm-up tourney before Wimbledon, but was the ultimate master of seamless transition between the two surfaces.

Talking of seamless transitions. Didn't Nadal do the ultimate in 2008
Won the FO without dropping a set (without dropping a game in that last set). Won Queens. Queens is often treated as a warm up tournament for the top players who often lose early but in 2008 Nadal and Djokovic somehow found themselves in the final. The match they played was of the highest quality and was definitely for real. It still ranks as one of my favourite all time matches... Then won Wimbledon producing a final with Federer that is generally accepted to be the best match ever...
Has anyone else completed the clay, grass, grass triple?

Good news about the 3 week gap but its still ridiculously small given the gap from AO-->French, Wimb-->USO and USO-->AO. One day, someone with commonsense and influence at ATP/ITF will sort the calendar out properly and create a grass season...with Masters and smaller events leading up to each slam.
On a similarly ridiculous note - the Toronto Masters starts the day after the Olympic tennis final...!

I was at the 2008 Wimbledon final and although the first 4 sets were of good quality, the fifth fell below them as the light failed. The last few points were played in very dark conditions.

I said best not longest. If you want to watch one of the best Nadal Djokovic matches I can recommend that 2008 Queens final.

Only Nadal was playing good the first 4 sets and Federer was lucky to make it 2-2 with Nadal on top of the TB's until choking. That does not make a great final by any stretch!

I guess you will just have to accept that your views may differ from most other tennis fans. Each to their own.

Are you saying they never play for real?

Hawk I still believe Federer's 2 defeats in US tennis series to Canas in 2007 ultimately made Federer lose his mojo a bit. I knew after those defeats Federer had already peaked and he wouldnt hold on to number 1 for longer than 2008.
AO final was better because of the twists in the 4th set, the Nadal lead in final set and ultimately the fightback by Novak when he looked like he had lost it. Far better final!
