Worst Excuses After A Loss
We've heard a lot of recent talk about Haye potentially fighting Vitali and a fair few posters (with reason) go back to his fight with Wlad and his infamous "Little Toe" excuse.
Truss mentioned Spinks' knee "injury" before the Tyson fight.
Golota claimed his knee was knackered after Lewis annihilated him.
Calzaghe blamed brittle hands after the David Starie debacle (probably fair TBH).
Khan was actually pretty fair after being punched out by Garcia, but he did whine & bleat about the Peterson fight, citing biased refereeing and "The man in the hat".
What's the worst excuse you've heard?

Bounce - Golota had a fit prior to his lewis fight and a painkilling injection for his knee which rendered him dizzy before he stepped in the ring. That was genuine excuse
Re: Worst Excuses After A Loss
I stand corrected Shah - I have never heard (or read) that one before.

After being knocked out against Bith Tarver and Johnson Roy Jones stated it was because 'he couldn't get up for this guy'.

How's this for an excuse, as described by Boxrec :
Andrew Lewis vs Denny Dalton
Lewis down in the 4th round. Lewis was ahead on all cards but retired from the fight because of an urgent need to use the restroom. Lewis blamed his stomach discomfort on a pre-fight milkshake.

Not so much 'Six Heads' Lewis as 'Turtle's Head' Lewis.
I think I remember him saying something along the lines of "It was better to take the loss than to crap all down my legs"...

Paraphrasing here (i.e. taking liberties): -

I think Carl Froch using the excuse of a volcano erupting in Iceland for his loss to Kessler has to be right up there as one of the worst of modern times!

I'm honestly suprised it doesn't happen more often, usually nerves before the fight will flush everything out but seems he had a sneaky milkshake.

didn't Wlad say he was drugged after one of his losses. If it isn't true (and there is always a chance it might be) then that's pretty bad

I can't place the name, but didn't someone say after a loss that he was trying to break the other guy's hand with his chin?

Henry Cooper's "the sun was in my eyes" excuse is certainly one of the more memorable ones. I'm surprised 'Enry didn't claim his hair was in his eyes at some stage, so fanciful were his excuses now and then.

Re: Worst Excuses After A Loss
Speaking of Tyson, Holmes claimed hat he was only knocked out by him because his right hand got caught in the ropes a moment before Tyson flattened him at the end of the fourth. Ol' 'Larry Big Pants' as LRR called him did get his glove caught, that much is true, but he was a beaten man long before that moment.

He's not epileptic - it was some sort of reaction to the medicine

Yeah Wlad said his water was tampered with in his hotel after the loss to Brewster and i'm sure Tyson fought with a broken back against Etienne, and won. Lol. Can't use smilies at the moment.

Although he, of course, eventually won, I'm sure Lennox Lewis claimed he didn't open up against the bubbling Oliver McCall because McCall's shorts were of a style and colour that were casting some kind of a spell on him and putting him off.

Something happened there, i know he threw a lot of punches in the first four rounds but then again he always did back then and never looked remotely gassed to late on he also took no punishment until the fifth round. Always thought there was something funny about that fight.

Not for me, he's a different fighter now, took it to another level. It was fear of being tagged after Sanders that had him burning too much energy. He seems a lot more relaxed these last couple of years.

Yeah he was definately out of sorts for that fight. There were alot of consiracy theories. Not sure if it was neccessarily foul play involved but Wlad was dead on his feet by the mid rounds rather inexplicably. Might have just been an illness picked up though.
There was alot of controversy surrounding it at the time though because betting odds swung massively on the casino exchanges pre fight, Wlads urine and blood samples were found to have been destroyed upon request for further testing and supposedly access had been given to Wlads training and dressing room facilities that was supposed to be reserved only for Klitschko team memebers.

Never new there was that much controversy sorrounding the fight, i knew about the access backstage etc. I'm sure they reckoned their water had been tampered.

What does that mean? Amir Khan was champion until he faced a juiced up opponent, lost on a SD, had two points deducted for pushing while an unauthorized man in a hat sat and chatted to judges.
Wlad wasnt a champion when he fought Brewster either incidentally.

Lame excuse from Wladimir, he got knocked out yet again and had to try and find a poor excuse to use, that was the best he came up with.

Hayes broken toe was so much as a lame excuse as a badly timed excuse- if he had just said that he lost to a better man on the night, and then perhaps let the story of the toe emerge afew months down the line ohe wouldn't have looked like such a prat, but as it was it looked like he had his excuse for losing ready before the first punch was thrown.

I'll toast to that!
Taken this from another website, so not sure how true it is...
Bute defeated you previously. Can you win a return bout? Why?
Yes I can win a return bout. Last time I fought Bute, I was very sick and almost drowned in the hotel pool the day before my fight. I never learnt how swim and decided to cool down after training. I didn’t realize there was a deep end of the pool and jumped straight in. I know I can beat Bute and would not go near any swimming pools before the fight!
