Re: dullest interviewee?
The best of the impressive current crop of British Super-Bantams he may be (in my eyes anyway, before Kev rams Galahad down my throat!), but Scott Quigg is an absolutely horrendous interviewee. Doesn't seem comfortable, monosyllabic, repeats a load of clichés and the like. I remember he was in the Sky studio a while back and it seemed as if he was struggling to string a sentence together.
Although he was telegenic in many ways, with his looks, winning smile and exciting skill set, I tended to find a lot of Oscar's interviews pretty dull. He seemed to 'play it safe' to the extreme, although I suppose his astronomical sponsorship deals and the media focus on him Stateside gave him good reason to ruffle as few feathers as possible.

Manny Pacquiao without a doubt.
Scott Quigg is a great shout too.
Kell Brook makes me smile when he talks about the "bombthhhhh" he is going to throw

Or after the Carson Jones fight he stated:
"I had to go into HOSPICAL for a check up"
C?? Roger that Kell!

Kell is a good shout, he's so dull he reminds me of Michael Owen when he was named England Captain....didn't sound bothered at all.
David Price is pretty dull. Fury has the edge over him for interviews I feel. When those two meet it'll be Fury who comes out tops on the media side.
Pacquiao is boring as hell. Hard to imagine someone as talented and that has been through so much to have such a lack of passion in his speech.

I think Price can be quite funny at times, certainly in his press conference for the Audley fight when he said;
"He called me before Beijing to offer advice which I'm grateful for, but he's still getting flattened"

Lennox is a great shout. Price is very dull. But the P4P dullest person in boxing is Ricky Burns.

Re: dullest interviewee?
Not really fair to call guys like Pacquiao boring. I know it gets said a lot, but how articulate is Mayweather in his second language? It's not rare for a guy to be really live in his first language but dull in there second. Just incase there are any F1 fans here I'd point out Kimi Raikkonen as a good example.
Speaking of Mayweather, he bores the life out of me.

At least Broner's refreshingly imaginatiive and flashy. His nonsense is new whereas Mayweather has been spouting the same catch phrases for ever.

Anyone struggling for some shut-eye at the moment should catch Lennox's 2 minute contribution near the start of the recent 'Klitschko' documentary. It sees the great man in top form.
After doing shows with the likes of Ken Dodd, Bob Monkhouse and Billy Connolly, someone at ITV had the bright idea to make 'An Audience With Lennox Lewis.'.
I was fortunate enough to be out that night but did anyone on here catch it ?
What were the highlights ?

Re: dullest interviewee?
I wouldn't say Mayweather's interviews were dull.
In the Face Off shows or post fight interviews, there is always the element that something silly is going to happen. It may be tedious, but far from dull.
Ricky Burns is just happy to be talked too half the time.
Pacquiao just thanks everyone he knows, "mr bob, mr freddie, mr alex, mr god, mr steroid dealer"

Exactly, dull in English but then signs up to a snow mobile race under the name "James Hunt" which he supposedly won while dressed as a gorilla weeks before the start of a season.
I'd like to see anybody here saying Manny's boring give a decent interview in pinoy.

i'm guessing nigel mansell was before you're time then... he could warp planks with a single sentence. Laughably, he won sports personality of the year, which frankly meant the beeb were lucky not to get done under the trade descriptions act.

"No athlete work harder than me"
"We been here before"
"I'm ready to die"
"Floyd Money Mayweather here to stay"
"I got what it takes"
"Hard work, DEDICATION!"

"We the best, the Money Team."

Tim Bradley nicked hitting the speed bag while talking to the camera then agressively turning away at the end of the round from Mayweather. Except when Floyd did it there were about 20 pointless hangers on to give applause.

The Four Kings on Don King when he got out of prison:
"King also emerged having mastered a new language of his own creation, a dazzling locution that combined ebonics with polysyllabical malapropisms."

Dullest interviewee
If Mansell was bad, Steve Davis was worse. Spitting Image did the skit where he was given the nickname "Interesting".milkyboy wrote:Valero's Conscience wrote:John Bloody Wayne wrote:just incase there are any F1 fans here I'd point out Kimi Raikkonen as a good example.

Manager -"Steve, what is it that sums you up?"
Steve - "Plumstead"
Far play to Davis, he took it in great spirit and went along with it but prior to that, his interviews were so dull the dead would come back to life just to die of boredom all over again. When you consider, Davis operated in an era that contained Tony Meo, Cliff Thorburn and Terry Griffiths, for him to be named the dullest was quite a feat.
As for boxers, I remeber Tim Witherspoon being interviewed after another shambolic display from Audley and saying that he would really love to work with A-Force as there were some serious improvements to be made. When asked what he specifically thought, he could work on, Tim replied, "I dunno"
I also find Amir Khan quite tedious to listen to but that's another matter.

Good example of Father Evander. It seems weird to thank God, as isn't that hinting he was backing you? Why would God have a preference? I'd expect such an all powerful creature to be impartial. Maybe my standards are too high when it comes to Gods, I don't know...

There are several variations of English. In Ghana, Nigeria and Gambia they speak Pidgen English. Creole English is spoken in Sierra Leone and Liberia. African Americans often speak Ebonics. Another variation of English. Even Obama speaks it in the right audience.

Re: dullest interviewee?
Who cares how he speaks, it's a dialect.
We have so many variations in our language in this country alone. I can't believe that some people are commenting on the way a working class African American speaks. It is elitist and pretentious. The language people use is often constrained by socio-cultural determinants. It is ignorant to imply they are dumb or even have a choice in they way they speak. Imagine what would happen to the young Floyd who pitched up on the street corner spouting Queens English. He'd get a kicking or worse. Now he is a millionaire people may argue he has a opportunity to "better himself and speak correct" In changing, he would isolate himself from the vast majority of his fans. More importantly why should he?... To satisfy the middle class grammar police? Pull the other one!! It sickens me when people comment on what is essentially a person's background.

Total BS. This is simply snobbery (I'm being kind) and sheer ignorance. Its a dialect that has been around for hundreds of years, used by black people. So now you think its being cretinous for them to continue using a dialect that is a part of their heritage. Talk about cultural ignorance.

I dearly wish they would, but an accent is different to speaking incorrectly, there are two sorts of sentences, ones that are structurally and grammatically correct and ones that are not, we been here is the latter, we have been here is the former. Personally I believe we should all irrespective of our backgrounds aspire to the former. I am a Yorkshireman, you can be assured you will not hear me speaking like a dee dah.

Its not talking like a slave. Its a dialect that has its origins from slavery. Why should a whole population jettison its heritage because its not exactly 100% grammatically correct. For crissakes when a gordie is in full flow the English used is not 100% grammatically correct. When a Yorkshire man speaks it isn't correct English. I don't hear you going off on one about Kell saying "he were" as opposed to "he was". And you lot invented the stupid language.
