smirnoff, with regards 2 iongi it seems he is the one that has told the scarlets that he doesn't want to play for them anymore. If that is the case then it is very poor on his part as he never returnd for pre season training. So in my eyes good riddance as we seemed to had signed the only tongan who couldnt tackle!

You would still expect an official announcement from the Scarlets announcing his departure though. Even if it was "Villiame Iongi has parted company wiht the Scarlets with immediate effect." followed by a brief biog of when he signed, what his games/tries etc. Taking up what 2 paragraphs on the website, surely that ain't too much hard work.

I agree with you on that SS, it would be nice to have some sort of offical confirmation, maybe we will hear more on it if we have a press conference to announce some new signings

Yeah I guess. That said the Scarlets are not exactly renowned for their skills in communication.

Yeah, looking forward to it. Doubt we will get to see too many of the new boys, or the internationals for that matter. But it'll be a game, and it feels like this summer has lasted for ever.

Yup got my first season ticket - a flexi, so will be good (though I am in the posh seats in the North stand!). Can't wait for the Leinster game

lol, yeah, between playing rugby myself, work and meeting the missus i could never commit to going to most of the games to make it worthwhile, now however i've got the time and have just got my 4 year old son his first season tickets, he's scarlet mad at the minute, hopefully it will stop my osprey supporting in-laws getting their claws into him lol! like i said, i hope this season will be worth it.

Buzz - Well looking at the signings if we can secure better ball at the set peice I think we could be in for an excitting season, but ain't sure if it'l be enough to get our hands on silverware.

SS- not sure if we will win any silverware but i hope we can win a few of those games in which we have suffered close losses/draws over the last couple of seasons and make the play offs.
Priest, im in the north stand to, where are you sitting? 22, half way etc.

Off the top of my head I think it's N13 though it may be N14 - I got a flexi season ticket so can sit anywhere, but I generally use going down to the games as an exuse to see my parents as I don't get much of a chance otherwise, what with work, communting, my missus, planning a marrage and doing up the house.
Their sitting in the expensive seats on the halfway line North stand so i'll be sitting by them but if anyone else is there, then let me know

Re: Welsh Regions Signings/Departures/Rumours so far ( Barry Davies signs for Jersey RFC)
looks like maama molitika will continue his rugby in italy next season. wish him all the best as he's been a good servant to the blues.
be interesting when these SA players come over to West Wales cause they are currently competing in the Currie Cup. Of the signings we've made this season/alleged to have signed I'd group them as:
Proven Player:
George Earles.
Squad Filler:
Tomas Vallejos
Potential:
Jake Ball
Johan Snyman
Something to prove/Last Chance Saloon:
K Phillips
G Owen
Haven't seen Adriaanse to comment on yet. Ideallly I would have loved if Cilliers and Eaton had signed, but it wasn't to be. Apart from George Earle I think our signings are a bit of an unknown quantity. But it does look (hopefully) we've up graded from last season, and I am heartened by the potential within the new season. Also with the new U20 Welsh boys coming into the reckoning it builds for an exciting season.
Also with Barry Davies back at the Quins he is another experienced player to call upon within the region if needs be.

Re: Welsh Regions Signings/Departures/Rumours so far ( Barry Davies signs for Jersey RFC)
I am, overall, pretty pleased with what I have seen or the players we have signed, and we seem to have bought in the right areas for once. So all being well we should be able to feild a decent enough side now when the internationals are out, which was one of our problems last season (see the Ulster game) the second string side was good, but just lacked that edge.

Yeah that's right the 1872 club, I couldn't remember the name, that's where I'll mainly be sitting. Yeah keep an eye out for a strapping 6ft4 28 year old with glasses and thinning brown hair! ;p

Re: Welsh Regions Signings/Departures/Rumours so far ( Barry Davies signs for Jersey RFC)
Think easters mentioned last week that the two SA players (didn't mention names) were at different stages of the process of recruitment. think one of the signings (i assume snyman) was waiting to be agreed by wru. think adriaanse is still playing in the currie cup with the lions. so probably won't be with us anytime soon. so i imagine we'll go into the season with deacs being our 1st choice TH until reinforcements turn up.
On another issue mentioned earlier in this thread about Ospreys looking to strengthen their back three. but it looks like they've found a possible replacement for shane williams (if you can replace shane) in scrumhalf turned winger tom grabham.
http://www.thisissouthwales.co.uk/Tandy-happy-develop-young-talent-region/story-16734106-detail/story.html
it's great to see all the regions producing these youngsters.

Manu will do the job just fine, but for depth i was hoping we would be getting Adriaanse sooner rather than later, but hey-ho.
What is it with trying to find futher Shane's by moving scrum halves to the wing? Didn't they do that with Tom Issacs too?

I still think we're weaker than last year even with the signings, well in the front row definately, and with the locks Earle could be much better than our previous signings, Vallejos won't be with us until late Oct/Dec, and the others are 20 year old youngsters, or bit part players and don't sound better than Reed/Day.
A massive shame we couldn't get Eaton and Cilliers.

Priest - I will wait and see who is better/worse than their forebarer when I see them running out in Scarlets colours, as I remember saying we were stupid to ditch Selley for this King (who the hell wants a 1 cap NZ player who was getting no game time in France), and I remember being over the moon when we signed Kees Meeuws as we needed a prop who could scrummage as Manu was cack (I think we all can say honestly the Meeuws was no-where near as good as Manu, for us).

True, I can't really argue with that, I'm prob just disappointed that we've missed out on the targets we originally wanted.

Re: Welsh Regions Signings/Departures/Rumours so far ( Barry Davies signs for Jersey RFC)
spiderman: we've done the scrumhalf/wing thing ourselves with lee "bach" williams. he was quickly labelled with the "shane" tag too.
i think if we can nail a TH then our pack won't be too bad, although slightly concerned that we no longer have a ball carrying 8 (dai llew or morgans) to get us over the gainline. i was also interested easters picked pugh a 7 and as captain against Worcester . makes me think he will be playing an out and out 7 next season (edwards, pugh,d thomas) that means 6 & 8 will be stocked with turnbull, rob gog, shingler, murphy etc.....be interesting to see our first choice backrow for this season. might not be the expected:
6: shingler
7: turnbull
8: rob gog

Re: Welsh Regions Signings/Departures/Rumours so far ( Barry Davies signs for Jersey RFC)
Pioden - I didn't wanna mention Lee Bach, because I may have been one of those who pointed out similarities between the two little men wearing the 11 shirt.
It will be interesting to see what happens with our back row options as if Easterby is looking at going for out and out blindside, openside and number 8, will that mean Shingler may drop back into the second row and Timani will be moved back to Number 8/Blindside?

Re: Welsh Regions Signings/Departures/Rumours so far ( Barry Davies signs for Jersey RFC)
I can see the pluses of having out and out players, but it'll be a shame of having only one of Turnbull & Shingler on the pitch. But as a plus it'll prob mean Timani staying as lock either back up to Earle or playing with him until Vallejos can challenge for a place, as I think he did very well for us last year as a lock and added some grunt to the pack.
I see McGog and Murphy as our 8's, but think this will be a weakness as neither are out and out 8s, and McGog hasn't impress me when I've seen him at 8 in the past - but who knows, with a full preseason to concentrate on the position and a new forward coach, maybe he'll shine.

Out of interest where is Rob recently? Not played in the last pre-season game.

Looks like we will have reinforcements in time for the leinster game.
Meanwhile, Easterby confirmed the region are hoping to finalise another prop and second row signing before the season's opener against Leinster at Parc y Scarlets on September 1.
"It is no secret that a prop and second row have been a priority for us after losing Iestyn and Rhys Thomas last season and three second rows," added the former Ireland back-rower. "We are pleased with who we have brought in so far and hopefully a couple more signings can be completed shortly."

I guess at least that does mean that something is officially being done, and it is not just a case of rumour mills running. The sooner the squad is officially all signed up the better.
I can't wait, only 10 days to go!

its been a long summer hey spiderman? don't think easters is the type of guy who would say something if it wasn't pretty concrete. once the two new players arrive at parc y scarlets, im guessing all the welsh regions would have finished their summer recruitment. lots of activity on and off the field for blues & scarlets. some shrewd signings by the dragons & the ospreys have lost a few players but it seems a settled camp in ospreylia.

Not a long summer as such, but I do a bit of stress-venting at the rugby, and without it I must say I have been struggling to stay calm at work. So I am glad it is almost back.
Yeah for once the four regions seem to hav ditched the deadwood and the aging, and replaced them with players who (theoretically) can do a better job.

Apparently Darren Waters is out for 7 months, that's a big blow for the Dragons after losing Gavin Thomas to retirement.

Did you guys get Carizza? I can't remember. Also, it says in the OP this front row player is from the Kings?

Yep I think Pat may be staying in SA for a while, he was proud to pull on the dark green jersey.

Good news that we've reinforced our options at prop, and before the Leinster game. Shame he isn't coming to us before October (I hope it's the start), I really hope he gives us what we need and helps our physicality and scrum

Seems like a journeyman.
Edit: I just read that he's played for the Emerging Boks... maybe he's a good player, we'll have to see

Adriaanse is out of the Lions squad this week due to injury. I assume that we have some legal way to ditch him if it is going to be a long lay-off.

doesn't sound promising - though if he is out injured and doesn't come we are really up poo creak.
IMO he seems like a journeyman, but you never know until he's played for a few months, he could be a good player. I think I'm just disappointed we didn't get Cilliers and Eaton.

looks like dragons are going to recruit an openside. any dragons heard of any possible targets.
also looks like the scarlets final south african recruit is being held up due to the long drawn out working visa. but apparently the deal is still on.

Don't see it myself. I guess if it's true, that they really don't rate Rob Nash.

To be honest, most of us Dragons were under the impression we had spent our budget too
