Empty seats at Wimbledon
What a continuing disaster which the combined might of LOCOG, the IOC and the LTA couldn't sort out.
Anyone fancy a seat to watch Murray v Federer over five sets this afto? I bet there will be some takers if they could park their arses on one of the empty seats.

I think it's ridiculous that it's labelled a disaster, people clutching at straws to criticise the Olympics.
Most of the empty seats are due to media and press asking for seats and then not using them. They've done very well and most venues are completely full.

Most venues isn't the point Crimey. The Wimbledon venue remains scandalous. Hundreds of prime seats vacant...

So? Swimming, weightlifting, velodrome etc were practically full. They can't all be full!Portnoy wrote:Crimey wrote:I think it's ridiculous that it's labelled a disaster, people clutching at straws to criticise the Olympics.

Tennis isn't a strong focus at the Olympics. While it's a big sport normally, it's like the football, during the Olympics it's only really a background sport.
What do you want them to do? Force people to go?

It's no a big sport at the Olympics but there were a ridiculous amount of empty seats, around hallf full. No way that's all media. People just didn't turn up or didn't buy them. A bit surprised really, I would have jumped at the chance to see top players.

Yeah, but if people don't turn up that is in no way the organisers fault.

There's no way half a stadium doesn't turn up, some tickets just weren't sold.

How do we know that the stadium is half full?
It's not until the afternoon isn't it?

Today will be jam packed it's a final, Murray etc. I'm talking over the competition even the semis weren't full, well better attended than most days where the place was empty.

There were still empty seats - at least 200 in prime spots. I wonder how many there were on Henman Hill to watch GB clock up their 16th?
Disgraceful.
And as the ITF had their banner up on Centre Court, I add their name to the list of the culpable.
