surrey vs durham match thread
Team Director Chris Adams has named a thirteen man squad for the LV=County Championship match against Durham at the Emirates Durham ICG starting on Tuesday.
Stuart Meaker is unavailable for the match having joined the England Lions for their two games against Australia A. Matthew Spriegel returns to the squad having played against Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge last month.
Rory Hamilton-Brown is not quite ready yet for Championship cricket. He will play for the Second XI and continue to train this week ahead of our next CB40 game against Durham on Saturday.
The Surrey squad for the LV=County Championship match against Durham at the Emirates Durham ICG on Tuesday 7th August, Wednesday 8th August, Thursday 9th August and Friday 10th August:
Gareth Batty (capt)
Rory Burns
Zafar Ansari
Arun Harinath
Steven Davies
Jason Roy
Zander de Bruyn
Matthew Spriegel
Murali Kartik
Chris Jordan
Jon Lewis
Tim Linley
Jade Dernbach
jordan and de bruyn would be the two to miss out for me but because of he's experience i think adams will pick de bruyn
if that happens harinath or spriegel will miss out.

Agree with you that Jordan and De Bruyn should miss out and also that De Bruyn probably won't, however I'd suggest that it's his bowling that is keeping him in the side as this year's captains have been quite keen on giving him a long bowl.

Re: surrey vs durham match thread
Could be a long 4 days this one! - good results in the last round for us...Meaker will be missed... I think I'd be reasonably satisfied with a draw
With all the Olympics on, I have to confess that I'd rather forgotten about Surrey's battle for survival in Div 1

Possibly we could afford to play only 4 front line bowlers (provided one of them isn't Jordan!). Bearing in mind that the likes of the Brain, Spriegel, Ansari can bowl.

I'm surprised that Wildon didnt make the squad, given his performances in limited overs cricket this season.

67/4 at lunch, Brain continues his fine form with a 3 ball duck. Roy run out of the penultimate ball before lunch, absolutely brainless, clueless cricket on the face of it.

All out for 129 but fighting back a bit, Durham 56/3 with Brain trying to make up for his batting with a wicket and a run out.

No wonder there was a stupid run out. BBC website shows Surrey as currently having three not out batsmen, Burns, Viscount, Spriegel...
Looks like a very poor performance. Burns showing stickability, but that's about it. Le Roi , Davies and the Brain have got many poor scores than good ones this season.

Also looks like we could end up with nil points due to slow over rate...

Re: surrey vs durham match thread
For Sale - 4th day ticket for Durham v Surrey!
Disgraceful performances all round. Let's get this hammering out of the way and pull together for the last 4 games, otherwise Division Two is going to come faster than a Usain Bolt race!

Surrey also lost a point during the game for a slow over rate.Corporalhumblebucket wrote:Also looks like we could end up with nil points due to slow over rate...

Re: surrey vs durham match thread
Difficult to say much more - weak performance all round that is likely to reduce confidence even further.
It really does seem a very long time since Dernbach bowled well for us in the cc....

Re: surrey vs durham match thread
taking a short break from the Olympics
It sounds like a rather dire performance from the lads credit to Durham who've turned it around in their last couple of games...Lets hope for a better performance next time around... allthough not looking good, atleat its still just about in our own hands! (well apart from the weather

Still don't understand why Ramps was allowed to leave - yes, he was off-form, but once we'd lost Maynard it made sense to keep him. Now we have no batsman in any sort of form and Div 2 beckons.

Chichester -perhaps not your greatest prediction!
Anyway, I'll let you get back to your preparations for the Olympics closing ceremony.

Corporal - yes, I fear lack of confidence is going to be a major problem now.
