Most unprofessional thing done on air...?
First topic message reminder :
Following the AW saga it got me think what it the most unprofessional thing you've seen on camera....
Maybe it was someone blowing up after a botch, someone being super stiff or breaking kayfabe take your pick....
For example 'The Curtain Call' at MSG in 96

Irrespective of me being a massive Rock mark... You had The Rock turning up every week, trying to make the feud tick and build something, to which in reply, Superman Cena just smirked his way through and tried to play the funny man with the crowd. For me, he ruined what could have been a real intense feud.
It also carried over to Lesnar's return where he completely no sold that. Lesnar looked legitimately p.o'ed after the F-5.
Agreed. I alluded to this in my post but you have summed it up perfectly. I thought Cena was an absolute embarrassment in the run up to Wrestlemania and did nothing whatsoever to enhance the feud and if anything he numbed it.

Also in the match itself, nearing the end he was appalling... Ruined it for me as you knew the end was a coming.

How is this unprofessional? If he's reading off script & behaving in the way that Brian Gerwitz & Vince McMahon see befitting of the Cena character then surely he's doing his job?

Re: Most unprofessional thing done on air...?
that was my thinking brady, its just his character unfortunately. Personally, no matter how many times people say 'oh but all he's done for the company you can't hate him that much' well i'm sorry but he is just awful, his promos/wrestling/demeanour everything is just awful. How did this guy get as far as he did, was it mainly due to the deaths of eddie and benoit that they had to make a call to push a guy to the moon? anyone know?

Ive heard Vince has nearly always based his company around 1 megastar character. In the late 70's he had Bruno Sammartino, the 80's Hulk Hogan, & unfortunately now John Cena. Maybe it's because one mega star is easier to market than two? If one is seen as the best & completely dominant is he easier to get behind than the guy down the card? Take Football...Manchester Utd naturally have more fans shift more merchandise than say Blackburn, ultimately I think this can have a direct correlation to success. Obviously you can weigh in factors such as geographically location, history etc when picking your team but I bet a damn site more follow Chelsea & Man City in recent years than did 10-15 years ago this undoubtably is due to recent success... It's just an idea but I can't explain why it's Cena?

We are not talking about the "wrist notes" here by the way, which was obviously a work bearing in mind Rock never actually looked at his wrist once during that 20 minute promo if I'm not mistaken?
Now I don't watch as much of the current product as a lot of folk on here do so maybe I'm being naive and have misread the whole thing? Perhaps creative did indeed ask Dwayne to go out there and and try to inject some intensity into the build up and at the same time tell Cena to openly come across as some smug irritant? I'm not sure it benefited his character or the feud in general.
The match itself was just awful. I've never seen two wrestlers talk to each other so much during a match which suggests to me that there was minimal dialogue in terms of direction between the two prior to the event. Now that must be attributed to the needle between the two and that itself could also be deemed unprofessional?

Yet arguably the most successful period in the company's history was centered around more than one star! You'd have thought Vince would have kept his own blueprint in a drawer somewhere.

That's 100% true however that is the only time the company was adult orientated... I think this formula works on young impressionable kids but the older fan (like so many on here) are tired of seeing the same guy on top.... But Vince must always look to that next generation of fans

New Jack: smasing a steel chair round some guy head, attacking a guy with a screwdriver, beating up the 17 year old, admiting he tried to kill Grimes. Take your pick really
