Press mistakes, editorial bloopers and generally awful journalism...!
I thought in the spirit of all things right, wrong and indifferent in regards to the hacks that comment on our sport, there should be a place in 606V2 that sports journo's were rightfully corrected for the magnanimous mistakes we constantly uncover as enthusiastic rugby disciples.

Now research can be a difficult thing, chasing old results to find who won what and who didn't win a thing...! But when you write an article one week about Phil Davis' Blues winning their first game of the season in SA against the cheetah's, then a few weeks later forget that you wrote it, you're a blithering idiot...!

As someone who posts articles littered with factual errors, spelling mistakes and grammatical mishaps I thought you might want to keep quiet about this

No need to be catty SnS. Paid journalists with access to editors and proof readers have a lot less excuse for inaccuracy.

Couldn't more agree with the indifferent perception and the right spirit we have shown to thos whacks who constantly don't pay their attention or time to the vast space of mistakes they make when they know if they did none of it's readers would be able to do the same with the same resources.
and that's the real problem here and they all know it.

The welsh rugby BBC are flooding us with a major over Henson-sing at the moment.
Bares little interest or relevence to the exciting start to the season.
Shamefully out of touch with the welsh rugby fans unfortunately.

From the Fail (don't have a link sorry)
The caption: Scott Williams crashes over for the Scarlets' winning try
the picture: Dan Newton
Also in the article makes mention of Davies getting the Scarlets' first points. Erm, who? Twas Aled Thomas at 10 for us.
And that was without fully analysing the article

Re: Press mistakes, editorial bloopers and generally awful journalism...!
We had a new (hopefully stand-in) stadium announcer at the Dragons' recent friendly against London Irish. I felt slightly sorry for her because she didn't seem to know too much. Before kick-off she went through the teams and pronounced Geraghty to rhyme with with Moriarty. Then in the second half she announced that one of Irish's replacement locks had kicked a penalty when actually it was Steve Shingler.
Also, when there were substitutions (and being a friendly, there were plenty of them), she'd tell us who was coming on but not who they were replacing.

I think it is important to make one mistake in ever article, it makes you appear human and it shows whether someone is reading the article attentavely.

For years Andrew Trimble a Irish Rugby centre turn Wing who has long blonde hair, is 6 foot 2 and is 27 was very easy for commentators to get confused with David Trimble who was a Northern Ireland politician, who is 67. Congrats guys lol

There was a terrible article in nzherald few days ago that claimed "the stats don't lie" and then was full of basic factual errors, such as claiming that 18 penalties ha been awarded. 11 against Australia and 9 against nz. It claime Beale was the first Australian to be yellow carded in the trinations since rocky Elsom
In 2002 or some such nonsense. In short it was utter rubbish.

The Scotsman Newspaper frequently has clangers, particularly in photo captions. Their photo editor obviously has no clue about rugby!
And it's not even as if the players look alike - I'm sure the showed a picture of Cusiter and said it was Ross Ford!

Maybe we could do a scotland edition of the classic family game "guess who"

It was an honest post, and nothing i wouldnt say about England with Farrell on the coaching staff.
Anyway ...currently the usually excellent scrum.com is a disgrace, for some reason when you click on the link t the Rabbo section it takes you to the archive from last year and also has the final score for the O's game as 0-0

On the BBC yesterday/today it had the Blues v Connacht game as 13 - 9, with the Blues scoring 3 pens (Sweeney), 1 conversion (Sweeney) and 1 try (Jones). Correct me if I'm wrong but 9+2+5 adds up to more than 13

BBC SPORT on the Scarlets vs Treviso match says -"Jordan Williams comes in at wing, allowing Liam Williams to take over from North on the right wing. "
Classic quote from the BBC - err I think you'll find that you need a FB and only 2, not 3, wingers in the team - I also think they'll find that Jordan Williams will be FB not wing.

Also I notice that in one article the BBC say that Emmanuel Frimpong will be playing for Arsenal u21s on Monday night to recover from 7 months out injured, but in another say he could play on the Saturday before against Chelsea for the full team.

Belfast Telegraph recently made a mistake when naming the Montpellier captain : instead of Fulgence Ouedraogo (a seasoned international), the name of Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa appeared in the article (who happens to play for Montpelier...football club).

Not so much a reporting error, but poor none the less - http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/rugby-union/19942316
Article talking about Sam Warburtons injury against Sale, and a nice quote (taken from Twitter rather than direct) from his father.
But then they have a misplaced paragraph on meeting "the French club, which will be Gethin Jenkins 1st return to the Blues."
Unless Sale are from France now, there definately needs to be a few more paragraphs on the Blues next opponents.

From the Guardian
Wales, currently training at Spala in Poland, appear to have done some significant horse trading to have the lock, Luke Charteris, available for their opening Test against Australia. Rob Howley, who is looking after Wales in the absence of Warren Gatland, has persuaded Perpignan to release Charteris for the game on 10 November and in return he will be made available to his club when Wales play Argentina three Saturdays later.
Wales, who have seen a steady migration of their stars to France, have been talking to the French clubs and yesterday Howley was delighted at the response: "This is a major step forward for us and shows that our trip out to France to talk face to face with the clubs has paid dividends," he said.

Hey Ruby, I can't stand those awful things they lack class and are just too chavy, so I still have my Range minus the scratch!
I'm currently having a an old classic Range restored to a high spec so that I can use it at weekends, although I won't be fitting a mattress in the back like Jimmy Savile did!

More quality journalism from the (curiously unnamed) hacks at the Beeb:
'Wales have not beaten one of the world's top three sides for four years - their last victory over one of the old Tri-Nations sides coming against Australia in November 2008.
'Since then they have lost 14 consecutive games against the Wallabies (seven), All Blacks (four) and Springboks (three), with six of those defeats by four points or fewer.
'Their only success against southern hemisphere opposition in that time was a pre-2011 World Cup warm-up win over Argentina and a 17-13 win in 2009 over Samoa'
Presumably our win over Samoa in the World Cup doesn't count, then.

I noticed on the BEEB Cardiff Blues vs Wasps article that it said "The Blues have made three changes from the team that lost narrowly to Leinster in the Pro12 League on 2 November. "
Correct me if I'm wrong but a 50-22 loss isn't narrow (unless you set the bar very low), and the Beeb don't seem to count the Munster game in between the Leinster and Wasps matches...
