Top 3 Fly-Halves in world rugby.
Pick 3...
If Carter doesn't get everyone's vote, you're all mad.
Based on current form...
(Gavin Henson not included as he is obviously the best, but is excluded due to testing positive for fake tan)

You only included two NZ players so I was only able to vote for two. If I knew who the third best Kiwi 10 was I would have been able to complete the task.

I voted for the two kiwis too. Event though Cruden hardly ever plays he is still better than most of the world, which goes to show the quality FHs have disappeared over the last 4 years. S.Jones, R.O'Gara, M.Giteau, J.Wilkinson have all been poorly replaced and Steyn and Cooper are badly off-form.

Again it is all about the Ausies for me, mind you is Berrick Barnes a 10 ? But Dan Carter will always be no. 1.

I put Barnes at 10 and centre, since he has played a fair bit in both positions for Aus recently.

Berrick will always be a reserve for me covering 10 and 12
There are heaps of good 10s around.
Beauden Barrett will leap from Cruden in 2 years time. Goosen will be great if given few games.
Stephen Donald is a RWC cup winning 10 too

I wouldn't play Carter at prop. He'd get injured!

Hernandez if he wasn't so injury prone could be savage

I went for Sexton as second choice as I think he is the bee's knees

I like Sexton too. I reckon he'd go well as the Lions 10 if Schmidt gets the backs coach job.
Carter then daylight though. Him, John and Ella for my all time top three. Nicky Allen would have pushed them all had it not been for such a tragic demise.

Re: Top 3 Fly-Halves in world rugby.
Sexton has yet to play consistently for Ireland as well as he does in the Leinster shirt. Flood was equally erratic and now seems out of favour. Priestland is more up and down than a rollercoaster. Morné Steyn is reliable but reliably deficient on attack. Cooper needs time and confidence to regain form, Barnes kicks ball away like it was a hive of wasps and Lievremont played his best halfback at flyhalf.
This thread makes for grim reading.

Re: Top 3 Fly-Halves in world rugby.
I have to say I'm so disappointed in Barnes this year. Both in his option taking and his execution. Wonder if Deans has gotten to him and eroded his confidence. Another Wallaby completely unsure of their place in the team.
Man I wish Meyer would pick Lambie or Goosen at 10.
Priestland has had some shockers post WC. Inconsistency is a disease born into Welsh 10s at present. It would help if they had someone with a bullet pass to work though.

Listening to the Boks lot carry on youd have to put Lambie up there
Generally in losing, sorry not winning, sides the guy not in the team is a world beater...up till the point hes picked.

I'd have Flood & Sexton well ahead in the NH.
Actually have preferred Cruden to Carter this season but Carter is Carter

Sexpest is currently a strong 3rd in the poll....just how bad must the rest of the Ireland team be?

WHY Is Johhny Wilkinson not included?
Yes he may not play international rugby any more. But neither does Stephen Jones. and he is still included.

Carter is the best by such a long way - he seems to be the complete player. Laidlaw is getting better as is Sexton - but only the best of the rest

Carter has been the best by a distance for ages now, since about 2005ish.

I'd disagree he is a good 10, but an average scrumhalf. He could develop into the controlling and running FH Scotland desperately need.

having watched him play both club and international he is a very good 10 as well. Been playing 10 for a couple of years now. What is really interesting is when his talents get used properly - with him and Blair interchanging and playing a speed game - that makes life very interesting. Some of the best half backs can play both 9 and 10

Weir is the man for the future for Scotland - sop long as numptybaws Robinson does not destroy his confidence. Best 10 In Scotland for a generation or more

Re: Top 3 Fly-Halves in world rugby.
Apart from his overall attacking game (which is the best in Europe), Sexton is also the best tackling 10 in the world since since Wilkinson. It tends to be a weaker part of most flyhalfs game. But he's not just competent he's a ferocious defender.

And passer.
1. Carter
2. Sexton
3. Cruden
4. Contepomi in his pomp. (An even better 12)

Sexton best tackling 10 in world?!?!?
I cannot agree with that statement in the slightest Feckless. I'm a huge Sexton fan but he's not even the best tackling 10 in the 6N!
That accolade goes to young Farrell.....it's pretty much all he can do mind but his defence is outstanding.

Just because you have been around a long time don't make you good, O'Gara for example.
Johnny boy kicked a good drop goal and benefited from an arm chair ride behind a fearsome pack.
A proven now he is in Toulon behind a big pack, back in Newcastle he didn't look anything better than average

You obviously didn't see him much for Newcastle, he was often outstanding.

Did it take you long to come up with that little cracker?

Re: Top 3 Fly-Halves in world rugby.
I went for Dan the man Carter, Quade Cooper and Morne Steyn. Daniel Carter is a no brainer and the majority of people probably voted for him, he is no doubt the best fly half in the world, he has everything.
Steyn I wasn't so sure about but he works well in the Bokke system although he is a little off form, he still is one of the best kicking 10's on form.
Quade Cooper, I kinda regret picking him, the only thing I can say in his defence is that he is unpredictable sometimes(although rarely) working to his advantage. But no team really needs an unpredictable 10 and his unpredictabiliality most of the time works against himself and the team.

Had a really good first half of last season then picked up a knock around January and hasn't looked the same since. Still controlled the game excellently in the big games, especially the AP final. Still wouldn't swap him for any FH in the Northern Hemisphere

Also for right or wrong he was officially the player of the year in the Aviva Premiership. He just is beginning to look like he can't play a full season so we might have to rest him and save him for harder matches. Which sucks as we struggle without him
