Champions League Group Stage Draw
First topic message reminder :
Starts at 16.45
As a refresher (this is from memory), 8 groups of 4 teams, each team in a group is selected from a pot. No team can be drawn against one from the same country, and only 2 teams from 1 country can be drawn in groups A-D and E-H for scheduling reasons
The Pots:
Pot One: Chelsea, Barcelona, Manchester United, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Arsenal, Porto, AC Milan.
Pot Two: Valencia, Benfica, Shakhtar Donetsk, Zenit St Petersburg, Schalke, Manchester City, Braga, Dynamo Kiev.
Pot Three: Olympiakos, Ajax, Anderlecht, Juventus, Spartak Moscow, Paris St Germain, Lille, Galatasaray.
Pot Four: Celtic, Borussia Dortmund, BATE Borisov, Dinamo Zagreb, CFR Cluj, Malaga, Montpellier, FC Nordsjaelland.
Man City being the only PL team to miss out on Pot 1
Best case scenario for the 3 teams in pot 1 probably looks like : PL team, Braga/Kiev, Anderlecht/Olympiakos, Anyone but Dortmund/Malaga/Montpellier
Worst case scenario being::: PL team, Valencia, Juve/PSG, Dortmund
Whereas for Man City, best would prob be Porto while worst one of the Spanish big 2.

so celtic survive. its not all been one way though, but heroic defending has kept celtic in it once again. sometimes that type of defending, saving a goal is as good as scoring one. i hear cech made a mistake, however petr cech is a human and not an effing superhero, give him a break, i hear hes the reason chelsea arent losing by more?

Celtic need to hold on to the ball for longer periods here. Cant keep defending like this. Benfica will break them eventually.
Keep the ball lads.

Re: Champions League Group Stage Draw
Id be over the Moon if we just make it to the knockouts. That would be an incredible achievement for a limited side with so much heart.
After that, anything is a major bonus.
We need to try and play more football. I cant understand why we let them keep coming at us. Its asking for it. Keep the feicin ball!
Just as I spoke... bollix. If we dont score here, that's it Im afraid.

James, yeah, the commentator just said Benfica have a better head-to-head and will go through. But, I just checked the table. And if Celtic beat Spartak, And a disinterested Barca beat Benfica... yeah man.
A draw tonight would have guaranteed it.

Think united can be happy enough with their nights work, although disappointed at the loss.
Thought some of the younger/fringe players did well, just lacked cohesion form not playing together.

Re: Champions League Group Stage Draw
Question is, why de feic don't Celtic play like this all game? Had 3 clear chances on goal in the last 10 mins. Lennon is not the most astute coach, in fairness.
We can beat Spartak in a full-house. Even a half-arsed Barca don't like being beaten at home. No matter that they have qualified already. And a relaxed Barca will tear teams apart.
Even if Benfica get a draw, a Celtic win will take us through.
I still Believe.

I'm not sure what that penalty was for?
Considering they got away with the foul on Ronaldo earlier...

Some goal for Mexes, trumps Ibra's in my opinion, shows centre backs should be all round players as well, not like the Irish, and possibly British menatality where they just boot it away!
