Golovkin is the perfect storm
Unreal power. Rarely have I seen a fighter wince like Proksa did after each crushing blow. And technically, Golovking is also brilliant. Subtle moves here and there, inching his way in, nice variety of punches. Brilliant performance. I only hope this HBO exposure encourages fighters to take on Golovkin.

How are you Sean?
I have been impressed with Gennedy and as you say he has great power but his footwork could cause a problem for him. I have heard of him maybe facing the winner of Martinez v Chavez jr. Well if its Chavez he has a great chance but Martinez would run rings round him.
He is good but not the complete article people make him out to be.

Re: Golovkin is the perfect storm
Proska isn't the best fighter put their and the loss to Hope sort of taints the win, but my word was that impressive, he broke him down and destroyed him as easy as anything
The bloke has seriously heavy hands, great footwork and very accurate for someone with his high tempo style. He spars and hurts super middleweights, light heavyweights and cruiser weights. He has a strong amateur career and the equaliser, he can turn any fight on it's head with his power and toughness
Geale openly said after the Sturm win that he wont run from Golovkin so i'm going to assume that is a fight that could happen very soon. Golovkin would walk through and stop Geale late as Geale has a lot of heart and good skills but doesn't have the power or defence to keep Golovkin off him. Pirog pulled out with injury and I hope it happens again but I doubt it as I doubt Pirogs ambition as he seems keen to keep the level of opposition down
The big one will be the Chavez-Martinez winner and I'm confident Golovkin can beat both (Martinez less so) but they may want easier options (Chavez) or bigger fights eg Martinez vs mayweather
Chavez is made for Golovkin, he is used to fighting bigger guys and with his power Chavez will have to tighten his defence or he will be knocked out

I am good mate. Maybe a bit hyped last night. Ha. I do like him though. He cut Proksa down well and he obviously has unreal power. I think he has great variety in shots, too. Kind of see him as a middleweight Mattysse and I love Mattysse.

That's a nice change from the usual "I wasn't really hurt and the referee stopped it too early" that most fighters come out with.

Re: Golovkin is the perfect storm
Sends out a big big statement in the division and fully expect to see him move up to 168lbs once he's fought the winner of Martinez/Chavez, would be interested to see him face off against Froch, the sternest test of his power out there.

Re: Golovkin is the perfect storm
He looked huge against a decently sized MW in PRoska, just looked so much thicker and stronger than Proska.
He truly is an amazing talent, there was a couple of signs again though that he can struggle with movers in little moments that people occassionally (Myself included!!!) overlook after a fantastic performance. Really do think Martinez will give this man hell. He just looks slow on his feet, whilst his footwork is good, it just looks slow.
Really like Golovkin though and he should paste everyone else in the division, if you stand in front of this man you're in for a rocky road.

Proksa's dowfall was set, but have to admire the way he went down fighting. Even though that probaly contributed to him losing even quicker

Martinez is far too classy for Golovkin. Easy KO win for Maravilla.WHU_Champo_League_in_7Yrs wrote:Proska isn't the best fighter put their and the loss to Hope sort of taints the win, but my word was that impressive, he broke him down and destroyed him as easy as anything

Re: Golovkin is the perfect storm
Martinez won't be getting in the ring with Golovkin under any circumstances from here on in, I'd imagine.
After getting past Chavez Jr - which he should - Sergio will be in 'mega fight or retirement' mode, I think. Di Bella has said as recently as six months ago that they'd fight Mayweather at Light-Middleweight if he wanted it, or that they may even be able to go down to a catchweight of 150 / 152 lb. He's paid his dues to the sport and, at thirty-seven, I doubt he'll be too keen on taking on a power puncher with limited financial clout who, once more, would likely outweigh him signigicantly on fight night.
Geale loves hitting the road for a big pay day - there's Golovkin's next target.

Martinez doesn't dodge anyone but a mega fight with Floyd or Manny is something he deserves.88Chris05 wrote:Martinez won't be getting in the ring with Golovkin under any circumstances from here on in, I'd imagine.

Re: Golovkin is the perfect storm
Well don't get me wrong, Gerry - I'm not at all suggesting that Martinez has any yellow streak in him, or that he'd avoid a fight with Golovkin out of pure fear. I'm a big fan of Martinez.
But as you allude to, there are very few more deserving candidates for a mega pay day fight out there. I believe that he and his team probably won't entertain the idea of a fight with Golovkin simply because it doesn't make great business sense for a thirty-seven year old with only a couple of fights or so left in him (or so you'd think). He doesn't need Golovkin, and Golovkin doesn't necessarily need him, either.
Clever match-making, sensible options, call it what you want, but I just don't see Golovkin being on Martinez's radar. Not a slight against Sergio, however.

That's a fair point about Martinez's age.88Chris05 wrote:Well don't get me wrong, Gerry - I'm not at all suggesting that Martinez has any yellow streak in him, or that he'd avoid a fight with Golovkin out of pure fear. I'm a big fan of Martinez.

I did read that Saul Alvarez is keen to a fight with Martinez if Sergio goes back to LMW.
I think that would be a good fight, a fight that Martinez would win and then open the door for a unification fight with Floyd!

I imagine that Sergio would fight Alvarez the day before fighting Chavez if it was offered to him. Way too much for Alvarez at this stage and a huge pay day to go with it.

Re: Golovkin is the perfect storm
Really impressed with Golovkin, even more so than before. He did seem to get hit a lot flush, but Proska's style is totally unorthodox and I'm also not sure if he was really bothered by his power? Golovkin is an absolute beast at middle and I would love to see him and Chavez get it on, although the only way that happens is if he pulls out of the Martinez fight.
His power is unreal and he doesn't even look like he is trying that hard.

I'm glad people are finally coming around to this way of thinking
I like Geale, but Golovkin wipes the floor with him in my opinion. I'd very much like to see him aganist Chavez, because I don't like Chavez.

From what I've seen of Golovkin he would destroy JCC jr early. I know jr is tough, but anyone at MW/SMW/LHW that would stand in front of those punches would be KO'd soon. Like others, Martinez is the only one at MW I see beating him.

Re: Golovkin is the perfect storm
I dont really rate those Eastern European fighters. They have a history of being exposed when they fight the top fighters from the Americas and they dont often venture outside their home country. When Calzaghe was around there was boxer called Sven Ottke who refused to come over to fight him and never fought outside his hometown. All of the European heavyweghts now do the same thing because they like to have the security of hometown decisions rather than fighting in America where boxing has great tradition. This guy Golovkin might look good now against poor fighters but if you watch carefully you will see he has not fought anyone good.

Ottke wasn't Eastern European you muppet. He fought in Germany, so he was Western European like Calzaghe.
And both the K bros have fought int he states numerous times

Would you care to provide an example of when either of the Klitschko’s have relied on a hometown decision or favourable judging to secure a victory?

Golovkin would murder Junior because Junior is so easy to hit. Also, love Golovkins pedigree. Saw him beat Dirrell in amateurs and flattened Bute.Clearly a talent with bang. Bring on the next
