Kingsholm Virtual Inn- come on in.
Gloucester fans need somewhere to chat over a (an imagined) pint of Rucking Mole or Doombar.
Come on in fellas and ladies, take a seat.
Away fans welcome too.
What's happening then at GRFC & Kingsholm ?
Gossip, scuttlebutt, salacious rumour, even rubgy news - share it here.
Lord Leveson has not discovered 606, so you may speak easy here.
Seasonal mince pies & cognac available in nearby Gtown.
Merry Christmas to all our visitors.

Re: Kingsholm Virtual Inn- come on in.
How about this Welsh/Irish / Glos combo rugby / horses ticket:
The offer means that supporters can purchase a pass for the Best Mate Enclosure and a ticket for the Shed for just £23 or a pass for Tattersalls and a Silver Seat in the Mira Showers Stand at Kingsholm for just £49.
The matches and meetings included as part of the offer are as follows:
Gloucester Rugby vs London Welsh on March 23rd and the St Patrick's Day, March 14th 2013, event at the Festival.

Luckless, thanks man , only one ? Where are they all ?
These pubs are slow, you are my first customer. Been talking with myself and the dog foe a couple of days. I'll see how the 'busy' w/e goes then may drop in to yours if it stays quiet here. You a Glos fan ? No-one else has dropped in yet. Of course business may pick up here for the next Kingsholm home game.

Gregortree, there isn't many of us on here. Pretty sure its only you, me and EnglishReign. I don't think the internet has reached Gloucester yet!! Most Glaws fans are on Shed Web, which is good but does get its fair share of bickering.
Are you off to the Irish game today? Really looking forward to it & I like the side ND has announced - real grunt in the forwards, our best backline, and some real impact from the bench. I'm really hopeful we'll end our LI away day hoodoo!

HKC,
thank you for popping in to the inn. No, not going to Irish today, have bad experiences there, ie we lost badly ! I'm off to slow start this season, as I was in the Lake District last week, and taking the kids back to Uni in Brighton next w/e.
I will take my seat for the first time this season at the Wasps game.
I'm looking fwd to seeing the new signings this season, esp Morgan and that Kiwi SH, Jimmy Cowan. I think we are accumulating some v exciting speedy backs, so I hope we are in for an exciting season.
Best of luck to us all at Irish, hope you enjoy the day HKC,
Gregor
PS: maybe I'll venture into the ShedWeb, hope the beer isn't flying !

Interesting to see Rob Cook returned to to Pirates on loan. I was hoping he'd get a chance at some point to see how he'd go at Premiership level. With May starting at 15 this week and Thomas on the bench he is perhaps surplus to requirements. Is May being seen long term as a fullback now? I've always thought he was better on the wing as he's not that assured under the high ball. Any thoughts from you Gloucester supporters?

Thomond, welcome in.
Yes we hosted Munster in the HC a few years ago, and what with it being Cheltenham Gold Cup week, the Kingsholm & other pubs and streets were heaving with craic-loving Irish. One our '6' at Kingsholm is a Cork man, who was enjoying hosting some mates.
BTW: Munster won, but we'll not hold that against them ehh?

Sorry, don't know Rob Cook. But regarding J May, I have been v impressed with his speed and deftness of foot. But yes, he remains a raw talent in development. He is great on the wing, not sure whether the manager plans to develop him for FB. Morgan (FB) is brilliant under the high ball, but being injury prone we need a backup or two.

Hope you can make it. See can see your old Scarlets buddies Lyn Davies & Ben Morgan.
I'll buy you a pint of DoomBar in the real Kingsholm.
HKC
Great result today, sorry I couldn't make it really. I kept my jinx at home, so that may have helped the team.

Dim, it's only a short term loan as Pirates had no FB for this weekend's game. He's meant to be back with Glaws next week.

gregortree, thanks for doing your bit to help the win
Great win, the backs were a bit shoddy but the forwards were awesome and the scrum penalties effectively won the game. Tom Savage was outstanding today and Ben Morgan played a blinder too.
So the curry has been ordered, the beer is in my hand and i shall be thoroughly enjoying this day!!

Hersh, looks like you already did, and BTW you are most welcome.
PS:
I always had a soft spot for Bath, predating my time at Glos.
(Maybe because I was not born and bred in Glos)
I don't like to mentiomn this too much, but this is a 'speakeasy' Inn.

You can't admit these things to the enemy, they'll see it as a sign of weakness!!
Actually, I'm not born and bred Glaws either, which may explain my full set of digits! Fortunately from the age of 7 when I started playing rugby and wanted to support a side, there was no local team to me of any note, so I ended up going for Gloucester on the basis my Grandma lived in Cheltenham - an extremely tenuous link, which fortunately meant when I did move to the area I was able watch Glaws without guilt or remorse!

Interesting, and your 'HK ' link ?
I'm more afraid of the Glaws fans than Baaarf in this speakeasy.
I was an England RFC supporter for decades in Kent, so when I moved to the W Country, at that time Bath supplied a good number of England squad and played some great rugby (oops I shouldn't be saying this in the Kingsholm). But I have been a season ticket holder only at Glaws, no other club. And looking fwd to seeing our new signings and our young bucks shine this season, and see a few more England caps. Charlie Sharples was at school with my daughters, so he is a local lad I would like to see improve for England.

HKC, ok,thanks for clearing that up. In my head you were a UK expat who made it back for the occasional game. Funny how these impressions can get so out of shape from the truth of the matter.
Barrff guys for example can develop delusions of grandeur based on the tea room culture.
Hope we get a good game / result against The Pests, will be my first chance this season.

If the forwards keep playing like they are we should do well this season. The backs have yet to click, but when they do some team is going to get whooped! I'm sure we'll have enough to beat Wasps and I'd take a repeat of last season's game!

Am I the only born and bred Gloucester lad then? Suddenly feel quite inbred.
Sharples went to my school for about a month, was in my year. He has done a bit better than me, it has to be said. Also played against Alex Cuthbert who is from these parts.

And I'll stick to the stowford/blackrat/thatchers

Poor old Cook had a nightmare in the A game last night. He missed 3 very easy kicks, although the conditions were awful. He showed he can hit the line well and is solid in defence, but it was a night to forget on the boot front.
I'm more of an ale drinker, but I'll happily guzzle a few Stowfords, Black Rat or Squealy Pigs

Its not all tea rooms and prawn sandwiches like back in Bath. But nice to see you slumming in here chatting with all the Glos lads.
Glos fans topped a recent survey of Jeff fans, for among other things passion & knowledge of the game. The Shed is world famous. What more can we say about how great a club this is socially ?

Very much strays. I've often thought watching Bath v Glaws is like watching Lady and the Tramp. One eats cucumber sandwiches whilst the other is salt of the earth and the lady always ends up getting nailed by the tramp!
HERSH your status seems to indicate you have a nomadic lifestyle, so do you hail from Swindon... I mean Bath?

I know my posts are often idiotic, but I'm not that stupid to not know that Exeter is in Devon! My point was that if you weren't specifically from Bath you had a valid excuse to support someone else, as any sane person would!

Yes, Glos has HRH Tindall in the squad. Most royally connected team since Prince Obelensky hung up his boots. HRH's mum in law planted a jubilee tree at our golf club last Friday. This county is pure quality.

I reckon we should win at Worcs but don't think we'll take 5 points, for somereason I have a feeling we may scrape past although if we keep out penalty count low with Goode's kicking abilities then we should be ok

Hahha , Somerset high living has blanked Hersh's mind.
Worcs
Goode is still class, and also scored a great try under the posts right in front of our seats last time. Unfortunately.
Glaws were a bit dopey though. If we stay sharp this time it could be ours to take.

We don't have the best of tracks records at Sixways, so I'm not overly confident ahead of the trip, but if ND really is installing a new culture hopefully we can get this monkey off our back!
It looks like we'll be without Sharples and probably Hazell, but other than that should be a full strength side. I know Burns had his foot in a boot cast in the stands at the A game, but apparently that was just precautionary following a knock he took when Sinbad scored on Saturday.

Gregortree, HERSH has already shown he has no taste by his choice of rugby club, you can't expect him to drink decent ale. After all the Somerset scrumpy he's referring to is Blackthorn
