Kingsholm Virtual Inn- come on in.
First topic message reminder :
Gloucester fans need somewhere to chat over a (an imagined) pint of Rucking Mole or Doombar.
Come on in fellas and ladies, take a seat.
Away fans welcome too.
What's happening then at GRFC & Kingsholm ?
Gossip, scuttlebutt, salacious rumour, even rubgy news - share it here.
Lord Leveson has not discovered 606, so you may speak easy here.
Seasonal mince pies & cognac available in nearby Gtown.
Merry Christmas to all our visitors.

Cider has its place, I drink it once in a while. Scrumpy has an evil reputation as a brain scrambler. There used to be specialised Cider Houses in both Glos'shire and Somerset, but they systematically killed off their own client base and closed down. Hersh survived.

He's another that always seems to have a good game against us. He's due a nightmare game, a bit like that one when he threw the pass for Leon Lloyd

Re: Kingsholm Virtual Inn- come on in.
Well that wasn't much cop was it?! Once again we got dragged into a type of game that suits Wuss and not us. But the positive I'm looking at is that is another game that in seasons gone by we would've lost.
Did any of you go on Saturday? It is such a soulless place. 8,000 for a derby game is dreadful and the atmosphere is really stilted. The quote of the day came from an old lady sitting about 6 rows behind me "I don't like Gloucester's stadium, it's too compact" - see as there was no one sitting near any of us I thinks she must mean people actually turn up to Kingsholm! In essence everything about Sixways is like Sandy Park, yet I really enjoy going to SP, but really don't enjoy going to Sixways. Mind you, I've still not seen us lose (to Wuss) there, so that's something.
I'm not happy either that both Wasps and Welsh had nice little confidence boosts ahead of our games with them.

I couldn't make it Saturday, and kind of glad I didn't now.
Been there twice, when we lost to No'hampton (LV cup couple of season ago) and last season lost to Wuss. So not my lucky ground.
If that Wuss lady was in the Glaws Shed then it would have felt 'compact'. I wonder how Wuss justify Sixways - is it a shared ground ?
I have to dash back from Brighton Saturday am to catch the Wasps game, my first this season. Hoping i see a 'first' home win for Glaws.

Despite our performance at Wuss and Wasps win against Irish, I am still confident we'll have enough for a win. Our backs haven't been great, but the pack are really causing problems and I don't think the Wasps front row will be able to cope with us.

Hi guys.
One of my better away trips was to Kingsholm in Jan 2008 when you completed a Heineken Cup double over us but not without a scare. We were treated royally by our hosts, two Glos fans who were business associates of my son-in-law.
Hope to draw you again soon

They were 2 fantastic games and the game at Kingsholm was an incredibly hard fought victory.
On a separate and more sober note, I'd like to take this opportunity to pass my sincere condolences to everyone at Ulster rugby following the recent tragic events. You are all very much in our thoughts and I know plans are afoot to have a round of SUFTUM at Kingsholm before the game this weekend.

The DoomBar was sweet in The Kingsholm, the victory over the road sweeter.
Although Glaws did it the hard way again almost letting the opponents back in. Desperate scramble in the end to keep Wasps from a draw, so must concentrate and close out these games better than this. Vintage Sinbad back on view again for a champagne, dancing try. Young Robson at SH looking very good too.

Re: Kingsholm Virtual Inn- come on in.
It was nice to get back to winning ways at Castle Grim. A clear improvement on last week, but still a long way to go. Having said that to be playing as we are and have as many points as we do is very encouraging.
I am not in the hate Redpath camp at all, but I am completely convinced that if we played these 4 games as we did last season we would be looking at 3 losses and a draw. The level of intensity is far better than it has been in years and to suddenly have ball carrying and off-loading forwards offers us a whole new dimension.
Likewise the scrum is turning into a little gem and I'd be happy to continue sacrificing lineout efficiency for scrum bulk.
The backs still aren't clicking yet, but when they do we really are going to tear a side apart. I have a sneaky feeling that could just happen in about, say 2 weeks?!

Ah, missed a load of sport recently - was galavanting down the US East coast (namedrop) for a couple weeks.
Pleased to see Glos got that home win though, Wasps a much improved outfit from last season and I'm hearing Burns' name everywhere at the moment. He has looked sharp from the off.

We are off to Oxford Welsh match on Sunday.
The ticketing arrangements are a little shambolic. Oxford Kassam has a web site with the ground / seat layouts. But you have to call Old Deer Park to buy the tickets, which may or may not be in the seats you first identified on the web site. LW home ticket sales have been in 4,000-6,000 range in previosu games, so I guess we can pick our places quite easily once we get there.

The humble pie I had to swallow for all the things I said about Donald in the years before RWC 2011 was epic.

It should be a good game and not the walk over we all imagined at the beginning of the season. Haven't got my tickets yet, will probably do so on the day.

Yes we may need our best of luck on the day.
My mate did the tickets, but he had to call Deer Park. You may wish to call and check, but I'm sure they are on sale at the gate. 16,000 capacity, so plenty to spare.

Generally quite good. His own performance has been good and he has carried the Glaws lineout. He may have been slightly rash with some decisions to kick for the corner rather than posts, but in general I'm very pleased with his contribution so far.

Well big Jim avoided being carded at LI this time around.
As HKC says, he is the only real l/o jumper, so has to do that duty on his own.
Having a steady season so far.

Re: Kingsholm Virtual Inn- come on in.
For the trip to London Welsh on Sunday, Director of Rugby Nigel Davies keeps faith with the majority of the Gloucester starting line up that defeated London Wasps last weekend in the Aviva Premiership, but does introduce three new faces.
The only change to the back line sees Mike Tindall swap places in the matchday 23 with Henry Trinder to partner Billy Twelvetrees in midfield.
In the forwards, Huia Edmonds comes in for Darren Dawidiuk who picked up a knee injury against Wasps while England international number eight Ben Morgan is ruled out with a dead calf.
Finally, Peter Buxton, who has been in fine form in the Aviva Premiership A League, is named at blindside flanker with Sione Kalamafoni moving across to number eight.
It will be Gloucester Rugby’s first meeting with London Welsh in the Premiership at the unfamiliar surroundings of the Kassam Stadium.
Lyn Jones’ side have won their last two games having experienced a difficult first two games in the top flight and Davies admitted this week that this recent upsurge in form simply reiterates how tough this weekend’s game will be.
“It’s very important that we’ve got the right mindset going into Sunday to play London Welsh.
“It’s going to be a physical encounter. I think that the two sides that they’ve beaten probably didn’t give them enough respect and, because of that, they finished on the wrong end of the result.
“They’re a very strong team, a proud side. They’ve got a lot of points to prove, individually and collectively, and, if you get it wrong against them, they will beat you.”
Gloucester Rugby:
Rob Cook; Jonny May, Mike Tindall, Billy Twelvetrees, James Simpson-Daniel; Freddie Burns, Dan Robson; Nick Wood, Huia Edmonds, Rupert Harden; Tom Savage, Jim Hamilton (capt); Peter Buxton, Andy Hazell, Sione Kalamafoni
Replacements:
Koree Britton, Dan Murphy, Shaun Knight, Will James, Akapusi Qera, Dave Lewis, Henry Trinder, Martyn Thomas

Re: Kingsholm Virtual Inn- come on in.
gregortree, in general I'm happy with that side. A few knocks, but those coming in are more than capable. My only concern is the dropping of Trinder. I thought he had his best game of the season/pre-season against Wasps and was just starting to build an understanding with 36, so I don't see the sense in Tindall starting. Likewise, from the A games I've seen surely it's time Molenaar was given a shot, he's looked very good in those games.
I'm looking forward to the match and can see us just shading it...

OK. Just posting here to make it busier.
BUT, I like the look of this Glaws squad.
I really can't imagine the Tomato and Whites winning by less than a cool dozen. HKC, why do you think this will be close? To me, this has a big score written all over it.

Hersh
Well broadband has yet to reach much of G'shire. There's me, HKC, Carlin, and a couple of other guys wired, thats it. And this Inn always welcomes Zummerrzet folks of course.
Trade is slow this week, because Oxford has broadband, but it does not have many Welsh. When we meet a big side, say Baarff on 6th October, this Inn will be rammed. Up to 10 people could be expected in here.

Could well be, but if he is fit enough to be on the bench he should be fit enough to start. But I am looking forward to the game. If we can get the pack rolling again we should get the win.

Oh please don't play up to HERSH and agree with him
After years of following Glaws, I know that if there is any team capable of losing away to teams they should beat it is us! On paper we look far better, but too often that hasn't translated to the pitch. I will say our away performances this season have yielded 6 points and in years gone by we would have at best got 2 from, so I am more positive about our chances, I just don't want to get carried away.
