Lengthy List of Leinster Lad Laid Off
Just noticing the amount of absentees from the Leinster squad for this game this evening. Obviously some are out due to the IRFU player welfare policy however many more are out due to injuries mainly long term.
Does any other club currently have an absentee list like this? Can anyone remember a time when their club had a longer one than this in the past?
1. Healy
2. Strauss
3. Ross-Bent
4.
5.
6. McLaughlin-Ruddock
7. O'Brien-Ryan
8. Heaslip
9. Reddan-BOss
10. Sexton-Goodman
11. Fitzgerald
12. Darcy-McFadden
13. O'Driscoll-O'Malley
14. D.Kearney
15. R.Kearney

Definitely throwing games.
They're obviously looking to get qualification changed in the Pro12.

In fairness, given it's Leinster, now many are out due to "ragged cuticles" or "feeling a bit fed up"?

Re: Lengthy List of Leinster Lad Laid Off
This is where, I think, the Pro12 comes into its own a bit. No one wants their stars out injured en masse, but because our teams tend to rotate through the season then when an injury crisis happens we have players who have already been exposed to this level ready to step up. I know it's never the same as having the top boys (perhaps evidenced by the Scarlets game last week), by still better than having to throw players in with no pro experience. Great for the national team too as some youngsters get exposed and can staked a claim. Some of Wales' best players at the moment are there because they stepped in to cover an injury and we discovered that they could play a bit (e.g. Warburton for Williams; Tipuric for Warburton; Paul James for G Jenkins; Faletau for Ryan Jones (I think); Halfpenny as a fullback; Roberts converting to Centre; etc.) so long term injuries can have club and national team benefits. Every cloud, and all that...

Wasps last season!
We had 17 serious injuries forcing the retirement of Steve Thompson, Joe Worsley, Tom Rees. All the others were out for a minimum of 12 weeks unbelievable.
The good thing was we avoided relegation (just) & it gave the youngsters great experience.
Vunipola, Daly,Launchbury,Jones,Wallace all young English lads who will be regulars this season.

Re: Lengthy List of Leinster Lad Laid Off
Glib remarks aside, last week Ulster were missing Court, McAllister, Best, Fitzpatrick, Tuohy, Henderson, Ferris, Henry, Wilson, Pienaar, Wallace, Spence, Trimble, Bowe, D'Arcy. Add Williams, Cave and Marshall to the list for the pre-season friendlies, and while Leinster's list is long, it's not extraordinary.
The amount of first-teamers with long-term injuries is a worry, however.
