Australia vs Argentina: Teams announcement and more.
First topic message reminder :
Australia coach Robbie Deans named the following team on Tuesday to play Argentina in the Rugby Championship at Skilled Park on the Gold Coast on Saturday.
Australia:
15-Berrick Barnes, 14-Dominic Shipperley, 13-Adam Ashley-Cooper, 12-Pat McCabe, 11-Digby Ioane, 10-Quade Cooper, 9-Nick Phipps, 8-Radike Samo, 7-Michael Hooper, 6-Dave Dennis, 5-Nathan Sharpe (captain), 4-Kane Douglas, 3-Ben Alexander, 2-Tatafu Polota Nau, 1-Benn Robinson
Replacements: 16-Stephen Moore/Saia Fainga'a, 17-James Slipper, 18-Scott Higginbotham, 19-Liam Gill, 20-Brett Sheehan, 21-Anthony Fainga'a, 22-Kurtley Beale.
Pumas coach announced the following team:
Pumas:
Rodrigo Roncero, Eusebio Guiñazú, Juan Figallo; Manuel Carizza, Patricio Albacete; Julio Farías Cabello, Juan Manuel Leguizamón, Juan Martín Fernández Lobbe; Martín Landajo, Juan Martín Hernández; Horacio Agulla, Santiago Fernández, Marcelo Bosch, Gonzalo Camacho; Lucas González Amorosino.
Replacements: Agustín Creevy, Juan Pablo Orlandi, Tomás Leonardi, Leonardo Senatore, Nicolás Vergallo, Martín Rodríguez Gurruchaga y Juan Imhoff.
The most prominent change in the Pumas is Nicolás Vergallo by Martin Landajo.
Martin Landajo is an amateur player who play in Argentina (Club Atletico San Isidro) .
What is the reason for this change?
Nicolas Vergallo output slows the ball, so in this way he "freeze" the game and allows Pumas to build better defense and take a breath, however Martin Landajo has an output more dynamic and this reflects the intent of the Pumas play more offensive. It will be a game more open and dynamic.
I think deserve to watch the game.

Oh Samo!!!!!!!
That is awfull, no real pressure and he loses it on the way down, if any coach wanted to prove why you carry the ball in 2 hands this is a great example.

This is a good game... So annoying that I have a crap load of gardening to do and the TV wont reach the patio doors so that I can do both...!
Great to see that the Argies certainly have the muscle to cope in this game.

Twice now Australia have failed to ground the ball for tries. They will be hoping that is not coctly.

Re: Australia vs Argentina: Teams announcement and more.
sloppy wallabies, are they taking this game seriously? Think of the fans watching and hoping for some sort of spark mates, and get the act together?
Least the forwards are holding up well, but the back line seems a bit out of sorts.

Re: Australia vs Argentina: Teams announcement and more.
Good defence the pumas commentators said, for sure, they didn't let the wallabies thru, but really how hard is it to defend against flat runners perdictable passes and the odd dropped ball????
Pumas looking quite good, stopping any attacks, and Wallabies relying on, geesh that's a big ask with our kickers, relying on penalities.
Still, time to go!!
Oops, beawdy, even as I am typing this we let a try in, sign of lack of urgency in the backs. Well, still time to go yet!!!

Jed Thian on ARC is suggesting that many Aussies in the Gold Coast Pub he is commentating from think that Wayne Barnes has been sent by HMGvt to smooth over the whole Falklands thing...!

I hope Ardentina dont fold here and keep it going for 80. It's a good game for the neutral.

Probably the right result in the end given the dubious nature of Argentina's 2nd try but I was really hoping they would get a try at the end there or hold out whilst they had the lead, The return match in Argentina will be very, very interesting.

Argentina have done really well so far, they now need to get a win in one of the two remaining fixtures. Neither NZ nor Oz will be relishing their journey.

Yes, foot in touch for the 2nd try but also a clear penalty to Agentina when Digby scored. Holding at the ruck stopped an Argentine making the tackle but the officials missed it.

Re: Australia vs Argentina: Teams announcement and more.
While it ended up very close and Arg did very well. I think we should remember Aus were very unlucky not to get the tries to Samo and Sharp. Yes they were the right call and some great defence but if they had been scored the game could have taken a different shape.

Good to know Wales aren't the only side who will have left Australia kicking themselves this year. Commiserations Pumas, a fantastic effort by the sound of it and congrats Wallabies on a stunning comeback. Couldn't believe my eyes looking at the final score, I thought it was done and dusted.

Sadly for Arg we knew what was going to happen, they really do struggle last 20 without a number of starters up front.
I said Aus by 5 and late on only.

Who was the ref?calls two lineouts one each side not straight fair enough even to both sides. At the next one an Australian is standing closing the gap before the ball is thrown in surely illegal. But penalises Argentina game over,Los Pumas are going well with two home matches now a win is a real possibilty.Decision making a bit iffy trying to set up a DG to many pick and go`s ball lost.Perfect set up for Hernandez missed for trying for the line too much.Good game though.

Aus remain doable at home for the Argies....but they are missing impact players in the last 3rd and that is where tight games are won and lost (obviously)

Barnes was the ref Alan. Also the lineouts just before he called the 'not straight' ones from Argentina were crooked too. He was inconsistent. At first, he didn't call a couple, then pinged Australia... then Argentina for the same thing. That first penalty from the C,T,P,E call was too slow as well. A perfect example of someone who really has no idea of the forces involved between the packs at the scrum. You can't just pause for 3 seconds between each 'instruction'. Again he wants to be centre stage.
It also annoys me when I hear a ref screaming "discipline" like a school headmaster. It's as though he has this particular pre-conditioned minset to make an example of someone rather than just officiating the game.

A low point for me was Barnes screaming out "Be very careful how you talk to me! Be very careful how you talk to me!"
It says everything about his personality type.

I heard that too. Who was that aimed at? An Argentinian player? Hopefully it was a little Spanish compliment.
