First topic message reminder :

Ok, as we get closer, maybe it's time to have a look at possible Friday Pairings in the Morning Foursomes and Afternoon Fourballs.

I want to know what YOU think are good pairings, not what you think the Captains will go for.

Here are mine (in order):

Foursomes:

Furyk & Z. Johnson Donald & Westwood
D.Johnson & Duffner Garcia & Rose
Kuchar & Stricker McDowell & Hanson
Woods & Snedeker McIlroy & Poulter

Fourballs:

Bradley & Mickelson Kaymer & Lawrie
Simpson & Watson Colsaerts & Donald
D.Johnson & Kuchar F. Molinari & Poulter
Stricker & Woods McIlroy & Westwood

Today's practice groups should give us some hints on Olly's intentions...

1) Ian Poulter, Lee Westwood, Luke Donald, Justin Rose;
2) Graeme McDowell, Rory McIlroy, Peter Lawrie, Sergio Garcia;
3) Martin Kaymer, Nicolas Colsaerts, Francesco Molinari, Peter Hanson.

Still early days though...

Foursomes will be where the partnerships really need to be selective.
I believe Donald/Garcia is a given.Westy/Rory.Hanson/Colsearts.MacD/Poulter
Lawrie/kaymer.
Verulam just of the MI at St Albans Like most course I must have driven by 50 times.

Lots of optimism among the American fans I've chatted with and certainly with some of the US Media. Not so sure it's founded -- Westwood may have had a tough last week, but he's a VERY proven player in this event, unlike many of the Americans.

Interestingly (to me at least) I'll be playing in a Ryder Cup member event at my club on Friday, so I'll miss all the live action. Thank goodness for TIVO.

None of these are mugs.Ive just got a feeling about Poulter and MacD being put together(foursomes Im guessing at)
Can see Molinari and Rose sitting these out.Fourballs pick any two out of the hat for me.

Prince, I agree. Not the best choice of colour for Europe. Although sometimes the US t-shirts are pretty ghastly so lets wait and see what they look like.

Rickie Fowler must be spinning in his grave that the Europe team have stolen his silly orange colour Laugh

Glad to see them not wearing any hats though.

A bromance!!

Color's fine by me ... won't miss that orange anywhere during the telecast.

Worst golfing event to attend in person, IMO. Many of the matches don't go the full 18, you're sure to miss some key action if you're following one group, and they black out the event if a group is coming through a hole you're on -- for fear of mistimed cheers.

Heard the same term used for the Rory-Tiger relationship... Smile

I've a hunch Sergio is showing Rory there a picture like this one saying: "Don't worry, mine is also taller than me..."

Spoiler:
...or this one saying: "Do you think that's what they're doing everytime they're not with us...?"

So given their girlfriends won't be able to make the opening ceremony, do you reckon Rory and Sergio will walk with each other instead?

Also, I had never heard of verulam. Has anyone played ther?

Yes, I've played Verulam a few times. It's ok, but has a very strange cross-over arrangement in the middle of the course. There's a par 5 going out, and a par 5 coming back, and they share a huge open fairway. There are balls landing all over. Also there's a par 3 over a road late on. Tee on one side of the road, green on the other. There is a net to protect the cars, but you could really do a lot of damage with the wrong shot.

Or maybe they'll break the team protocols and take Tiger with them as well... How would you call that then, a double bromance, or a ...threesome?
