Super_realist steals victory in Ryder Cup Fantasy Game
FINAL LEADERBOARD
Congratulations to super_realist, who wins the Ryder Cup Fantasy Game on countback from Mystiroakey
Tied on 27 pts a piece (from a possible 35), both predicted the correct outcome of the overall match result, scoring a bonus 10pts to slide past CJB and co. at the death.
Both were tied on initial countback of top scorers (both achieving the sequence 6, 4, 3, 2, 1, 1), so I have taken the executive decision to award super_realist the title based on his picks total scores from the singles out punching mysti's by 6 points to 4 (including triple point bonuses). Hope that doesn't spoil your night Mysti
Day 2 Leaderboard
Updated scores are below. All to play for tomorrow now so it seems - anything can happen in singles. We could see a last minute romp to the 606v2 title by someone way down the field courtesy of the double 5pt bonus on offer for predicting the overall team result...
Day 1 Leaderboard
Thanks for the suggestions. I think perhaps we ought to go down the traditional 606 fantasy format route here, how about:
Choose 1 player from each category (order based on Pd's wk 38 rankings):
Euro A McIlroy, Donald, Westwood or Rose
Euro B McDowell, Garcia, Hanson or Poulter
Euro C Lawrie, Molinari, Kaymer or Colsearts
USA A Woods, Watson, Simpson, Dufner
USA B Snedeker, Stricker, D. Johnson or Bradley
USA C Kuchar, Mickleson, Z. Johnson or Furyk
From those 6 selections, choose 1 player as your triple points earner.
Select winning team: 5pts bonus
Select winning team and winning scoreline: 5pts bonus
(if you select a draw, then both 5pts bonusses will be 'paid' out if you're right.
Ties will be decided on countback from each teams top points scorers (including triple points earned)
e.g. my selections:
Rose, Garcia, Kaymer
Dufner, Snedekar, Mickleson
Snedeker as triple points earner
USA to win 15.5-12.5
Entries confirmed:barragan, mysti, emmdee, plunky, smithers, setup, cjb, wadey, mclaren, roller, redrage, sand, super, navy, jdizzle, hend, boy, sky, blue, tiler, willy
Entries close prior to pairings etc for first match being announced - so get a move on if you want to be involved

Choose which team you will back for each session. You must back both teams once each day.
Total pts available = 28... funny how that worked out
I suggest that all selections must be made before the pairings and matches have been announced.
What if a session is drawn, can you not pick a draw ?

Re: Super_realist steals victory in Ryder Cup Fantasy Game
select three players from Europe for the morning, then three players from usa in the afternoon - or vice versa. you score points based on the results of your chosen player - not the team session score.barragan wrote:FORMAT SCRAPPED!
Apologies if I'm stepping on anyone's toes here - more than happy to step aside if anyone else had something planned or has a better idea for a format.
Here's my suggestion:
Points accrued are equal to those scored by your selections during the event.
Leading man
Choose 1 player from each team as your leading man. You cannot select these players again.
(1) Leading player Europe - 5 pts available
(2) Leading player USA - 5 pts available
Day 1 & 2, 4somes and 4ball.
Choose which team you will back for each session. You must back both teams once each day.
For each session, select 3 players from the chosen team. You cannot reselect players used on day 1 for day 2 selections.
(3) Day 1 - Morning session - 3 pts available
(4) Day 1 - Afternoon session - 3 pts
(5) Day 2 - Morning session - 3 pts
(6) Day 2 - Afternoon session - 3 pts
Day 3, Singles.
Choose one team only for the singles matches. Select any 6 players from that team. You can choose players you selected on days 1 and 2, but not your leading player.
(7) Day 3 - Singles matches - 6 pts available.
Total pts available = 28... funny how that worked out
I suggest that all selections must be made before the pairings and matches have been announced.
eg.
i could select:
(1 / 2) mcdowell & furyk as my 'leading men'
(3) mcilroy, westwood, Hanson for session 1
(4) mickleson, Watson, kuchar for session 2 (or vice versa for session 1 & 2)
(5) stricker, woods, z.Johnson for session 3
(6) lawrie , Donald, poulter for session 4 (or vice versa for sessions 3 & 4)
and
(7) mcilroy, westwood, Donald, poulter, colsearts and kaymer for session 5.
i would get 1 pt for every win one of my selections managed, and 0.5 pt for every halved match. if my player lost their match or wasn't selected i'd get nothing...

kind of a confussed format..Personally I would rather us just pick outcomes for every match..However I am still happy with it and will partake!

Re: Super_realist steals victory in Ryder Cup Fantasy Game
mysti - thought about that - but usually matches are announced at quite short notice, which would probably mean most of us wouldn't be able to participate - unless we were all glued to the up to the minute news. hence my convoluted format
as i said at the top - if anyone has a better idea then feel free - i won't be offended ! it is quite tricky to come up with something which would produce a wide variety of results from many entrants without it being a little complex.

Re: Super_realist steals victory in Ryder Cup Fantasy Game
or i guess we could pick a few players from each team and add their overall total. problem is there might be a lot of duplicate picks. could categorize the players as per the old fantasy system : cat a b and c (based on world rankings) with a couple of picks from each?

You could arrange the players by qualification ranking and pick 4 or 6 players out of 12 categories ie You can have Rory but not Tiger. Select a captain (earns triple points) and a vice captain (earns double points).
1 Rory MCILROY 4,050,288.10 1 Tiger Woods 6,014.184
2 Justin ROSE 2,602,910.21 2 Bubba Watson 5,815.054
3 Paul LAWRIE 2,384,837.11 3 Jason Dufner 5,697.302
4 Graeme MCDOWELL 2,375,790.52 4 Keegan Bradley 5,551.206
5 Francesco MOLINARI 2,112,452.06 5 Webb Simpson 4,635.500
6 Luke DONALD 363.46 6 Zach Johnson 4,491.544
7 Lee WESTWOOD 280.2 7 Matt Kuchar 4,448.942
8 Sergio GARCIA 200.85 8 Phil Mickelson 4,233.108
9 Peter HANSON 189.32 9 Steve Stricker 4,015.069
10 Martin KAYMER 172.26 10 Jim Furyk 3,369.616
11 Ian POULTER 171.64 11 Brandt Snedeker 3,176.787

Re: Super_realist steals victory in Ryder Cup Fantasy Game
Interesting - all of my picks are playing in the first session... which means (barring withdrawal) that each of them should have at least 2 chances to score for the golfing version of Team Sky! [not that either side would be crazy enough to only play certain individuals in the singles... ever again]
Also interestingly, only 1 pair of opposing picks amongst them (neither being the x3 PowerPlay) - which therefore guarantees a riskless 1 pt from that match...?

Sky you make a good point mate.. All about missing them oposing picks.
poults v
sneds v
donald v pmick
watson and colsartes arent playing
I can only score on a max of 3 of my picks!
The donlad v pmick game is material only because it is my multiplier(donald)
Still its gonna be fun..

will any of Lawrie, Molinari, Kaymer or Colsearts get more than 2 games during the pairs? my kaymer pick looking a little shaky also.
unfortunately the format will throw up the odd guaranteed point - the only way around that would be to do something along the lines of my initial format suggestion. but to keep things straightforward we are where we are. with only 3 picks per team, it shouldn't be too much of a problem. the person who correctly guesses the final scoreline may well be the winner at the end of the day.
