Who from your region do you think should make the Welsh Squad...???
First topic message reminder :
Howley will name the squad on the 23rd of October. In advance of this there will be a trip to spala again for the lads to chill their boots.
So, who from your region do you think should make the squad? Who has played well so far for your team...???

Re: Who from your region do you think should make the Welsh Squad...???
A lot of the points discussed about young lads like Webb, Williams, Knoyle and Davies are not considering just how young these blokes are. They are all in their senior rugby infancy, Wales and their respective regions have a decade of good service ahead of them.
We are lucky that the regions (maybe bar Ospreys as it looks like Khan has finally remembered how to play rugby and is likely ahead not competing with Webb) have seen it plausible to give these young prospects the nine shirt on such a regular basis. This experience, against the best in Europe is invaluable to them, to their regions and to Wales.
Strengthens our depth.
I despise the posters who write off youngsters consistently, {mind you on a side note I have discussed with a few of you I doubt whether some of these posters are either a) welsh or b) rugby fans,}, it is unfair on guys who the are mostly only in their second season as a first choice player. I think all mentioned scrum halfs above have had recent lengthy injuries that have slowed their progress.
We are lucky to have players like Phillips or Rees who have experience should we need it, we are incredibly lucky to have four similar aged talented lads fighting for a bench spot. We are even luckier still that their are some seriously talented players like Rhodri Williams and Tom Habberfield below them and more to come I am sure.

Do Wales have a knack for producing scrumhalves:
From Gareth Edwards to Rob Howley to Dwayne Peel and Mike Phillips and now these young lads.

Cooper simply fell between the pillars of Dwayne Peel and Mike Phillips.

I think it is probably that we are mad about rugby and maybe of a shorter national demographic than the other leading nations in rugby.

lloyd williams------body position wrong when passing out from scrum ,ruck, lacks enough movement in his waist, pass is too short one way because of this, doesn't use arms and shoulders correctly.
Favours passing one way only, if it's not on he cant switch, takes the ball on himself.
not criticisms, just observations.

Williams is a poor 9 living off his name.gavstar wrote:lloyd williams------body position wrong when passing out from scrum ,ruck, lacks enough movement in his waist, pass is too short one way because of this, doesn't use arms and shoulders correctly.

On the Jenkins note, I think James has always been the better scrummager but Jenkins has maybe the better all round game.
As I mentioned we now have somewhat an abundance of talent in the backrow so maybe we don't need Gethins all round action game from the off.
I would certainly like to see James or Gill given a decent run at prop with Jenkins coming off the bench.

Thats a good case Bedford.
Maybe in the later stages where we are more likely to get a turnover...? WE certainly have some good depth at Loosehead now that Bevington is starting to perform well.
