What percentage of first team players are injured?
I am intrigued at to how teams across the European Leagues are faring injury wise. I would appreciate it if people could list what they believe to be their first choice team and who from that list is currently injured. Also for the injured players a prognosis as to whether they may be fit for the first round of the HC.

Re: What percentage of first team players are injured?
Tigers
Mulipola (Ayerza on int duty)
Youngs
Cole
Deacon (injured)
Parling
Croft (injured)
Salvi
Waldrom/Crane
Youngs (injured as is replacement Young)
Flood
Goneva
Allen
Manu (injured)
Hamilton
Murphy (Injured)
I may be stretching it a bit to claim Deacon is first choice as he has been injured so much recently. anyway 4/5 first teamers injured - Croft and Murphy may not be back for HC. All in all I reckon that will be about average.

Re: What percentage of first team players are injured?
As of last Weeks Ospreys team announcement to play Munster the following players were not considered because of injury:
Eli Walker - Shoulder NO 1ST ROUND HEC
James Goode - Groin SHOULD BE AVAILABLE FOR HEC
Tom Habberfield - Ankle NO 1ST ROUND HEC
James King - Shoulder NO 1ST ROUND HEC
Tom Grabham - Bruised ribs SHOULD BE AVAILABLE FOR HEC
So far as I can find, no further players are currently injured or were injured during or after the Munster match.

Beat me to it, As
It's possible that Tatupu (long term injured again) might be first choice at centre or wing but not sure in whose place.

Re: What percentage of first team players are injured?
Glasgow's first choice XV is very much open to debate, Townsend hasn't really made clear who he thinks of as first choice. Could be something like
Grant
MacArthur (injured until mid December)
Cusack
Kellock
Swinson
Harley (injured until mid November)
Barclay
Strauss
Cusiter (injured until mid December)
Weir (slight knock)
van der Merwe (injured until mid November)
Horne
Dunbar
S Lamont
Hogg
also Welsh (loosehead)(injured until January) Low (tighthead)(injured until December) Kalman (tighthead)(injured until mid December), R Lamont (injured as always).
Most of these injuries are relatively serious ones which will keep players out for at least the first two rounds of Heineken Cup and in some cases the first four. The front row in particular is severely depleted, the injured players being not far off first choice. Time frames quoted are from the initial assessments after the injuries, can only hope they recover faster, as Hogg has just done, returning in about half the time estimated.

We have a full deck of cards at the Ospreys...
My apologies for not reading the title correctly.

I agree he would be first choice if fit but those occasions are about as rare as hen's teeth! The poor man is cursed is tells ya!

Re: What percentage of first team players are injured?
Just off the top of my head for Quins:
Brooker (hooker) not sure how long he's out for though.
Gray (hooker) nasty eye injury, may miss a game or two.
Lowe (centre) took a knock in training and has missed two games so far
Chisholm (back three) knee injury means out for 10 weeks but thankfully no serious long term damage.
Williams (back three) hip injury out for a couple of weeks
So not too many at the moment, hooker is a little bit of a worry if Gray's eye is bad, likewise back three options after Stegmanns poor display Sunday. I suppose you could also mention Ollie Smith, although he may have retired now I think about it...
Here's a question, does anyone think that our relatively young age across the team and a gameplan that calls for less time in rucks has helped to lower the number of injuries for the team?
Generally young people heal quicker then older and it does usually seem to be in and around rucks that most critical injuries occure.

Re: What percentage of first team players are injured?
Statistially i have read than any team under normal circumstances can expect 20% of their players to be injured. So out of a squad of 38 players expect 7-8 of them to be out injured at any one time.
This is the current Ospreys injured list:
Justin Tipuric - Hip
Tom Smith - Groin
James Goode - Groin
Tom Habberfield - Ankle
James King - Shoulder
So actually we are in a very lucky position at the moment.
