Hendry hints at retirement
Stephen Hendry beat Joe Perry 10-9 in an epic first-round match at the World Championship, but later revealed he may quit snooker even if he wins the title.
Perry rallied from 6-3 down to force a decider, only to miss the brown and let the seven-time champion claim victory.
Hendry knew defeat would knock him out of the top 16 for the first time since 1988 and admitted he "got out of jail".
"If I win I might still contemplate retirement. I've a big decision to make at the end of the season," he added.

Do you think its time for Hendry to hang up his boots? Has he done all that can be done in the world of snooker?

Re: Hendry hints at retirement
Yeah I think it's about time he retired he's done all you can do in Snooker and is no where near as good as he once was.Although Henry could just do what Steve Davis does and just continue to play and hope that he manages to find some form.It really depends on how fair he gets at the World Championshop say he got too the semis he may think twice about retiring.
Re: Hendry hints at retirement
I think he will only retire when he drops out of top 16, when he has to play qualifiers for tournaments. He won't continue as long as Davis.

Hendry is still a good player, he probably wont win another world championship, but will always be in the mix in other events.

welcome sportydan and I agree hes still got enough ability to win another ranking event not the World Championship though but you never know he could have a good running this year hes through to the second round..just but if he picks even a bit of form he once showed he could get too the quarters or even further but I can't see it happening myself.

Agree with the cheese man here. Can't see him playing qualifiers.

Despite Hendry’s decision to continue, next season may be his last. Hendry told the BBC he will complete in the PTC next season and practise with other professionals, rather than on his own, to assist his racking points and performance.
Agree with many that if out of the 16 he will not carry on in the qualifiers, for Hendry it is his love for winning not playing.

Re: Hendry hints at retirement
good to see Hendry staying, he wont win anything else i think and as others have said once he loses his automatic spot in tournaments he will leave. The chances of him falling out this season is high :
16. Stephen Hendry 35 420
17. Stuart Bingham 35 275
18. Stephen Lee 34 420
19. Mark Davis 33 630
20. Ricky Walden 33 450
21. Martin Gould 32 950
22. Barry Hawkins 31 125
23. Marco Fu 31 120
24. Marcus Campbell 30 215
25. Andrew Higginson 29 420
26. Mark King 29 210
they are provisional rankings including world championship points, quality players below him

Re: Hendry hints at retirement
Falling out the top 16 might be good for Hendry might just spark something that has been missing for years.

Re: Hendry hints at retirement
If he fell out the top 16 he probably would of retired though.Good thing now though is he's entering all the tournaments so its more likely he stays in the top 16.

I think dropping out of the top 16 might be good for Hndry think it could spark something in him that has been missing for a while.

Re: Hendry hints at retirement
I think if he drops out of the top 16 he loses commitment to the game.
Re: Hendry hints at retirement
Maybe I'm hoping for to much but I do think it might spark something in him. Maybe giving him another couple of years at the top of the game.
