I'm tempted to go for 8, but I do have Easter for another season if that. Probably going after a second row

Harinodoquy is still a prominent player, and Higginbotham can do a solid job there.
Have you seen Ferris is playing 8 for Ulster this weekend. I know he played there often before. Might be future for Ireland back row.

Re: Fantasy Premiership Season 1 - Homepage
Really rate Easter
I'd have Samo at 8, like him as a player
I'd also have Picky above Faletau, for now, as he's only really had 1.5 really good seasons. A classic bit of second season syndrome.
Really tempted with Retallick and Romano myself as well. Really thought that Hoeata would kick on and take Thorn's spot and that Donnelly's move to Crusaders would have him back in the ABs, but Romano has shown him up big time.
Big Lobbe fan, but he must be getting on a bit?

also one last question, can we pick the same team as we would for league, or is it, if you pick players in the cup, you cant pick them in the league week after?

Just run it how you want fella.
It's quite realistic so if you play the same team every week you'll eventually be picked up for fatigue etc

Last season was injured, last two games he's been great and back to his rampaging best. No one played well under Geech, last season was a write off!

Yeah Attwoods not kicked on as expected after he first broke through but to be fair to him hes played pretty well the last few weeks. Like Wilson the Gold regime seems to be doing him some good at Bath

Hopefully will kick on, I rate him highly and would be a good partner for Lawes as he's handy in the lineout.

Re: Fantasy Premiership Season 1 - Homepage
Feel a bit sorry for him, he played great at Glos, then it all went sour when he got that massive ban, then returned to a squad that hated the coach and wasn't picked because they knew he was leaving. Then got to Bath for a 'fresh start' but Geech disrupted everything.
You're right thought SJE, Gold is doing a job on many of the guys up front.

Re: Fantasy Premiership Season 1 - Homepage
I always thought Attwood was a bit of a pansy tbh , didn't have a mean streak about him which held him back as a 4 and his lineout work isn't good enough to be a 5.

HC tactics are up, tried putting in right way but didnt work
I have rested various players to avoid fatigue, and also have experimented a bit with positions to see people's opinon

Re: Fantasy Premiership Season 1 - Homepage
Agree with you there Driver. If he developed an ability to lead a lineout I think he'd start no problem, because his carrying is quite potent. He's just a bit too "stream lined" to be that heavy carrying close quarter sort of lock. I think I best selection of locks would eventually be Launchberry and someone like Attwood who could operate a line out.

At the moment yes. So along as its complimented with some hard running backrowers eg Waldrom, Wood and Robshaw

Re: Fantasy Premiership Season 1 - Homepage
Also I think it shows the mentality of our coaching here that in NZ they took someone like Read from being a lock flanker to the best 8 in the world yet, with someone of comparable skills and frame, Wood hasn't really been challenged and left at flanker. I do know that Read has been the All Black setup much longer than wood has the England one. But I just think if we want to be any good we need to start taking leaves out of the books of the best teams.

Re: Fantasy Premiership Season 1 - Homepage
Wood is massivley overated imo. He had a few good games in an England jersey but seems to be hyped up as the great white hope. I don't think he's actually that good, I'd have Robshaw/Croft as flankers going forward and Haskell in the wings.

Re: Fantasy Premiership Season 1 - Homepage
I'm not quite sure what he does thats so great. Doesn't carry well at all, not strong on the deck. Tackles well but so do most flankers. He's got nothing in his locker that sets him apart, he's just overhyped.
He's a good player but I don't see why people automaticaly put him straight back in the Engalnd side.

Re: Fantasy Premiership Season 1 - Homepage
He is as you said a good tackler. But in my opinion he's greats around the fringes and the close carrying. And not too sharply around the park. It's why I'm also of the opinion that swapping to eight could bring more out if him. He's brilliant at the ruck, in the Richard Hill-esque sense.
I just think that people get confused over the word carrying, as you have some players that are better at tight stuff and some better in the loose. I don't like the generalisation that most forwards should be able to break the line in a forty metre carry. That wouldn't work at all
