Re: Fantasy Premiership Season 1 - Homepage
I'd agree Pooly, think he got thrust into the squad when there weren't really any better options. Robshaw has been great on the int scene and owns that 7 shirt. Croft at 6, with Haskell and Fearns pushing hard as utility options and Johnson as a specialist BS. Don't see the point of Dowson being in the EPS, an ok Prem player at best

Fluxy wrote:He is as you said a good tackler. But in my opinion he's greats around the fringes and the close carrying. And not too sharply around the park. It's why I'm also of the opinion that swapping to eight could bring more out if him. He's brilliant at the ruck, in the Richard Hill-esque sense.
I just think that people get confused over the word carrying, as you have some players that are better at tight stuff and some better in the loose. I don't like the generalisation that most forwards should be able to break the line in a forty metre carry. That wouldn't work at all
How dare you compare to Richard Hill! That's blasphemous

I don't think he's strong at the tight carrying or the loose, I think he's a really weak carrier. He wouldn't work at 8 at all for me.

Jesus, just seen the Glos game. Hazell's going to get a hell of a ban there, the knee seals it! Mind you, the length of bans that get handed out seem to be completely random!

That time out of the game couldn't have come at a worse time for Stevens (and Bath). He was in great form 6 months before that and I genuinely think he'd be pushing Cole for a start (not that there's really anyone else)
POC is a beast isn't he! You can almost see the effect he has on team mates around him

Racing back in this, got all the momentum. Ref just missed a shocking early tackle, should have been yellow and 7 points

Keatley had it covered. Yellow and penalty for me. Ducalcon is destroying Munster in the scrum come the end of the half

Less than 3 weeks until November, which means Foreign Signing times!
Haven't got a clue who I'm going for, got a list of about 10 players in various positions, front and second row, halfbacks and wingers
What about you horrible lot?

Who do we rate at 9 then?
For me its..
Genia
Parra
Yach
Pienaar
---
Care
Youngs
Blair
---
Smith (as only just starting out)
Houghaard
Thoughts? Can't think of many standouts, position is up for grabs and shared / rotated in many countries

Going on your list on current form I'd have Smith & Care in above Yach. They are the form scrummies in the world at the moment for me

Re: Fantasy Premiership Season 1 - Homepage
Yeah maybe, can't go too much on form though, need some proven class behind it as well. Playing SH for the ABs behind that pack is an armchair ride.

Same could be said for all of the top scrumhalfs in the world except Genia though! Weepu and co never put in the performances like Smith has with a better pack in front of them for the All Blacks

Re: Fantasy Premiership Season 1 - Homepage
Smith is right up there imo. Agree early days but had a real class about him.
Genia still a standout although real lack of form, similar with Parra who's only recently started to pick up. Youngs on his day can match anyone but needs a good run to get in the mix. Pienaar a class act but never really does it on Int stage.
No idea where I'm looking at tbh

Hes decent ab both positions but not outstanding Bathite. Boks haven't really played to his strengths (box kicking isn't his thing!) but now Goosen is around at flyhalf we might see more from Houghard
