Gloucester
16. Scott Lawson 17. Tom Heard 18. Adam Jones 19. Phil Burgess 20. Luke Narraway 21. Dimitri Yachvilli 22. Mike Tindall 23. Johnny May
Tactics
*Front row to hold the scrum and Jones to come on and get the nudge on tired players,
*2nd row to be abrasive and wind up merchants, to compete at lineout,
*Back row to look to cause problems at breakdown and Q and JVN to carry strong,
*Get ball out to outside backs quickly with Burns standing flat and EFS coming onto it at pace,
*Centres to look to get the gaps to pass onto supporting runners,
*Back 3 have pace, experience and with Monahan, are hard to bring down, we will look to run hard and exploit their back 3,
*Defence will be hard and fast with Robson sweeping,
*Overall give the ball to the backs to play with and the bench from the backs will be used on 60 mins to bring experience and May's pace,
*We want to come back from Scotland with a win and any bonus points will be a bonus.

Key Points
Tactics
We will look to play the game inside opposition territory and will look to the boots of Dickson & Myler to put us there and take advantage of our lineout ascendancy. When in the right areas we will look to play a fast paced attacking game using big carriers running of the 9/10/12 axis to get us over the gain line and generate quick ball. Keeping the ball alive is crucial so our carriers will be looking for support runners to hit on the offload and get us further over the gain line. Our back three will look to get involved as much as possible running support lines of the halfbacks and midfield looking for the inside ball or offload.

Tactics
- Be solid at the set piece to create a decent platform to attack from. Quick ball to James if we're stable, Hogg to pick and go if it's messy.
- So many options at the line out. Opt for full lineouts mostly in their half to tie in their pack, leaving more space out wide. Compete for their ball.
- Play in their half initially. Look for territory and target their back three. When the game opens up a bit, we'll go from anyway if it's on.
- Target the breakdown for possible turnovers, with Pocock staying strong on his feet. When they arise, lets use them to our advantage. If the back three are sparse, look to kick for territory. If there are mis-matches, lets have a go.
- Be disciplined at the breakdown, with a guard and bodyguard at every breakdown to stop those easy yards around the fringes. No excuses here.
- Simpson to keep the tempo high, getting the ball quickly away from the breakdown and releasing the backs. The back three to be hungry and look to get involved.
- For slow ball, look to get outside their guards and bodyguards to suck in more and more forwards at each breakdown. This will give more time to the backs.
- Homer to go for points at every opportunity. We can have a pop from anywhere in their half. Make them scared to give away penalties in their half, thus giving us more time at the breakdown.

07. Tom Wood | 14. Vasily Artemiev |
08. Roger Wilson | 15. Ben Foden |
Key Points
- Hit the lineout hard. Lawes, Bekker and Woods will look to get at the Toulouse lineout in a big way. There is no one in the Toulouse squad on show today known for their lineout work and this is an area we really can dominate.
- With a powerful front 5 on show we will look to keep the scrum up and use it as a weapon. On our own feed we will look to get the wheel on and give our 8-9-10 axis as much room as possible to attack from.
- In Toulouse territory, with 5 jumping options to use, we will look to play off the top and move the ball out to Myler and the backs. In our own territory, we will look to take the ball down into the maul and drive ourselves into the right areas.
- We will play an aggressive blitz on defence, playing on the edge of the offside line and coming up at pace, looking to isolate the ball carrier and stop any Toulouse momentum before it can get going.
- Lee Dickson will act as a sweeper and cover any chips or grubbers behind the defensive line.
- We will leave two players sitting deep to cover any kicks and they will look to counter attack of any loose ball.
- With the blitz in operation, we will look to be at the breakdown first hitting it hard and fast. If the ball looks available we will flood the breakdown with Wood looking to get his hands on the ball.
- If the ball is not immediately available we will only commit 1 or 2 players to legally slow the ball down and instead look to strengthen the defensive line.

Looking at the teamsheets is Tonks playing in real life for Edinburgh this week? Wasnt rated when I played him last season but has had a good start to the season in the Rabo so hoping his profile might raise a bit

Re: Heineken Cup Round One
The Scots rate him highly. Seen a topic on the main board discussing the best Summer signings in Scotland and he came out on top a lot. Would have thought WP Nel would have made more of an impact to be honest

Nel has been very poor so far. Looks a bit unfit. Played Super 15 then currie cup and then straight into the Rabo. If they give him a break he will come good later in the season

Re: Heineken Cup Round One
Falcons destroyed the Edinburgh scrum for most of the game in pre season. Cross, Jacobson & Nel all took part, Tomaszsky smashed Jacobson especially.
Lee Jones was bloody terrible too.

16. Rob Herring, 17. Paulica Ion, 18. Leo Halavatau, 19. Bryn Evans, 20. Declan Danaher, 21. Darren Allinson, 22. Daniel Bowden, 23. Delon Armitage

Northampton Saints
Manager – SirJohnnyEnglish
16. Soane Tonga'uiha 17. Richardt Strauss 18. Paul Doran-Jones 19. Christian Day 20. James Craig 21. Martin Roberts 22. Ryan Lamb 23. Jamie Elliot
Key Points
Manager – SirJohnnyEnglish
01. Steven Kitshoff | 09. Lee Dickson |
02. Dylan Hartley | 10. Stephen Myler |
03. Brian Mujati | |
04. Courtney Lawes | 11. Chris Ashton |
05. Andries Bekker | 12. Sonny Bill Williams |
06. Stephen Ferris | 13. George Pisi |

Re: Heineken Cup Round One
Looking at the weekend's form-
Edinburgh 12- Gloucester 38
Edinburgh team here is slightly better and Glos won't make them look as bad as Sarries defence did but they were dire this week and if Glos play this team they will score buckets of points
Toulouse 21- Saints 20
Toulouse powerful enough to come through at home. Saints very good but will struggle to find weaknesses in that Toulouse team who have an edge at 6-10 for me. Well not much at 10, Beauxis can be used well or ge can be dreadful
Zebre 3- Tigers 49
Not Tigers best team and Zebre didn't fold against Connacht but only one result here. Like Cips at 15 btw, especially as he actually played well today by all accounts.
Bath 26- Glasgow 11
Bath look tonhave more class than Warriors all over the pitch. Backline is young but I think should cope fine.
Leinster 20- Wasps 19
Leinster hardly in inspired form. Wasps a very nice squad actually, but as it's in Ireland, Leonster as champions close it out and snatch the win. Might have grabbed the win if tactics had targeted the HBs as Sexton was apparently poor yesterday and Reddan too
Irish 24- Blues 10
Blues out of sorts. Weakened but still effective Irish pack makes this an easy call
