Moderator Competition

I know I don't post on here much, but that is probably because I am an admin on another site. I noticed you had a vote to decide a new moderator yesterday, which we used to do on my site. However, this turned into a popularity contest. What we now do instead is give the members that are up for nominations an hour or so of moderating abilities and see who can do the best job. For example, you could set up a thread in a usually unused section and tell them where it is. You as the admin would break some rules of the site on the thread and it is their job to regain order.

Just an idea for the future and finding the best moderators.
