I am happy to announce the appointment of a new moderator to assist in the tennis section.
Drum roll........................
Congratulations Laverfan and the very best of luck in your role.
Remember guys, LF is a member first and will only need to don the mod hat as and when required by editing or deleting posts that break our site rules.
Im sure you will join me in welcoming LF to the mod squad.

Hello
It is as I had dreamt it would be..
Congratulations LF, you may call upon me for assistance any time, I am fairly adept at employing the stick, not so much the carrott.
emancipator - occasional moderating assistant

Re: New Moderator
I am flattered and humbled.
Emancipator... I will definitely take you up on that offer of assistance.
SL, LK and CC... thanks for your support.
Y I Man... If you can provide some details via PM, I will try and drink from the fire hose as quickly as I can. BTW, I was hoping there would be others who would want to help make 606v2 better.

I thought LF went for hiding after being appointed as MOD, well he has been the saving hand of v2 tennis section even without the position, hope the good times of v2 tennis section begin.

You are giving me far too much credit, iC. There are many more courageous posters who write articles.

Re: New Moderator
Laver Fan seems a reasonable choice due to an apparent lack of bias and ability to remain aloof or not get involved in more heated debates.

Re: New Moderator
It seems strange having such a well respected, knowledgeable and fair-minded individual with the blue moderator logo under their name. Kudos for 606 v2 tennis for the choice, and appreciation to laverfan for taking on this task.
I hope everyone realises that the life of a moderator is not an easy one, but is there to act as a safeguard against those pushing the boundaries of the community rules and those for which emotion gets the better of them at certain moments.

HB... I have my biases, but try and control them as best as I can.
C4... Thanks.
NS... The 'blue badge' makes me even more aware of the power vested in that badge and behoves me to use it judiciously, without malice. Will try to do the best I can.

Well this news brought me out of semi-606v2 posting retirement (well Xmas break mainly and waiting for some real tennis to discuss not the usual out of season era debates or seemingly endless Nadal vs Federer stuff) to say well done and good luck LF.

Re: New Moderator
Lol, I know quite a few on here would say I'm anything but balanced!
However, that in itself doesnt matter, what needs to happen is that the forum has a whole, not singular posters necessarily, should come across as balanced in the range of views expressed. We need the full fauna and flora of tennis fans but the overall effect should be a forum that attracts and represents all views.
Some of the recent postings have at times been perhaps over-zealous at times (on all sides) and its a shame we lost 3-4 posters....but....at least the Federer forum it was turning into as a whole, and it was, has been more 'balanced' to an extent. However, we also need fans of Murray and Nole to remain...NITB where art thou?
Good luck in moderating LF, it's not an easy task as I found on another forum where I performed the same role but I'm sure you'll be fine. As I started out above, sometimes the balance needs to be achieved at the macro, not micro level and when we look at the definition of 'moderation' in the context of "everything in....." that can be a useful guide, but it's only a guide. I don't mean to teach granny to suck eggs BTW, just my viewpoint. Keep or sweep.
Anyway...bonne annee and bon chance!

Re: New Moderator
.
It's actually quite weird because I first joined in July, but didn't go back on v2 until early December. It wasn't that busy in the beginning of December, but since I made my first post on 14th December to the end of December its been really really busy, infact I believe it was one of the busiest forums, if not the busiest, in the whole site- which is very strange considering tennis is not even being played now.
Anyway the new season starts now, and it looks really promising. We are lucky to have 4 great players in Nadal, Fed, Djoko, Murray playing at the same time- heres to a great 2012!
lol thatll probably be me, I am quite a passionate Nadal fanlydian wrote:Lol, I know quite a few on here would say I'm anything but balanced!

Seriously, you are welcome to have the 'blue badge' of honour, if you so desire. I will gladly hand my 'badge' to you and annoint you a moderator.
