Should've won the LAST game in SA. They admitted the team got blown away in the first 2. They're all talking more sense than the last regime did.

Have to agree with you there mate!!!
I'm actually liking a lot of what I'm hearing, which is a little worrying. If I was an Englishmen I would be pleased to hear this, as well as how well the coaching team seem to have bonded.
I wish Rowntree would join Edwards at Wales!

Although I think they are trying to convince themselves that they have turned things around already...

The only words I dislike about that interview...
Playing for England is a very exclusive club so make sure you do the shirt proud.
Thats all well and good if you weren't offering the shirt to 2nd rate mercinaries!!!!!

I don't think they are, just enforcing what the coaching team want from the players. Performance, the culture and behaivour wise. I like the cut of their jib tbh.

I thought England showed up ok in the 2nd test by getting themselves back in the game and I think by the end of the series they were in the ascendencee.might be wrong, just an opinion.

The Rugby Championship probably revealed the relevance of the results.
Throughout the series SA looked a bit rigid in formation and overly reliant on the decreasingly effective strangulation approach that saw them successful 2007/09. This was a fading Springbok side, with key players missing, selection errors and a staid game plan.
I wonder how the more dynamic, attack minded Springboks who finished the RC might have dealt with England. Maybe worse, but I think they are on a better tack now and seeing the return fixtures in the AIs will certainly be interesting.
Who might have thought that SA v ENG might be anticipated as a battle of dynamic back rows, mobile tight fives, creative centers and lethal outside backs? All good news for rugby!

I missed Lancaster's half hour solo bit - but caught the hour they were all talking.
Things that stood out for me were:
Mike Catt really has the hots for Freddie Burns
Andy Farrell struggled to communicate coherently - a worry as that is a key element to coaching.
In general they talked a lot of sense - especially when quizzed on Easter and Steffon.

At the very least lancaster has brought a bit of unity to the squad.it's been evident throughout his tenure so far that the team are playing for each other.gone are the egos and factions which can only be a good thing.players like delon and banahan always looking for the glory over the better option.lancaster identified this and got shot of them.he deserves a bit of respect for this....he does sound like a wally thou!!!

Rowntree was pretty clear about Nick Easter. He likes him, and thinks he is playing well, but the coaches have decided to go for younger options. Unless they get injured, or fail to perform, then Easter isn't going to get a call.
Lancaster's comments on players in France were also fairly definite. So long as he has good options available in the Premiership, they will always be selected first. As far as he's concerned, Robshaw has done well at seven and so Armitage isn't in the frame.
Lancaster isn't about to take a gamble on Cipriani either. He wants Cips to be playing well regularly for Sale before he thinks about whether he is worth including in the squad.
You get the impression the coaches are happy with the way the squad is shaping up so it's unlikely there'll be too many, if any, left-field selections.
Lancaster did say he expects the squad for Fiji will look different to the one in the fourth Test against NZ. Not because he plans to shake things up, but because he assumes injuries and the like will necessitate changes. 28 players were used in three Tests against South Africa.
I thought the coaches said some of the right things but they'll need some wins for the fans to feel comfortable. As it stands, those two victories over Australia under Johnson are the last really exciting performances by an England team.
The effort and commitment shown by the squad during last season's Six Nations were great, and did a lot to wipe out the memory of uninspiring matches at the World Cup. However, South Africa showed that can only get you so far.

Plus the only coach to win 3 away games in same season.the fact ye did it with such an inexperienced group should be applauded.

Interestingly SL appeared to confirm that Farrell is primarily defence coach and Catt is in charge of the attack. Good news I'd say.
