Congratulations Sand!
Nicely run again Grumps, efforts much appreciated.
Looks like i'm the Lee Westwood of Eclectics...2nd 2nd for me from 2attempts - and thwarted by a final round handicap cut this time

Well done Sand
Also well done Grumps for organising...a very sorry 'did not finish' for me, did rounds 4,5 & 6 in one weekend and they would barely have improved my score so just never got round to putting them in...Shocking behaviour

JAS, no worries on your NRs. I had a feeling if there was improvement the cards would have been submitted. Grumps

Re: 2012 SUMMER ECLECTIC RESULTS
Out of interest Grumps, how does the equalizer work? I've run a couple of eclectics before for our group - just over a single course mind, so not particularly relevant - but interested anyway. My course was par 72 and sss 72. Do you calculate it on the basis everyone plays to adjusted par of 70, or something like that to give the -13.6?

Re: 2012 SUMMER ECLECTIC RESULTS
Basically it's worked on the basis of a 72 and adjusted up or down depending on your SSS. So if you're at a 70 then it's 70/72 and the score is then multiplied by 0.972.
I had your SSS as 70 Ban that's why you've been dropped to 13.6 and as the results have been published, tough titties, you're still joint second.

Re: 2012 SUMMER ECLECTIC RESULTS
Being relatively new here I didn't sign up this year and my winter golf is predominantly match play.
Think I'll be joining in and giving it a bash next year if it proceeds. At 70/68 par/sss look forward to propping up you guys from the bottom of the table!

Ah I see ...
Didn't expect a boo boo from you there, especially seeing as I seem to remember confirming the sss for my course twice

Grumps
Although I will always accept the rules as worked out by the organiser who is to be applauded for the time and effort expended in arranging these eclectics, I do feel that the adjustment criteria is slightly flawed. My course is a par / sss of 66 with 6 par 3s and no par 5s at all, this means that there no "easier" birdie opportunities which par 5s offer and actually more difficult to achieve scores against par than courses with par 5s. I will of course continue to support your comps should you wish to continue running them.

Re: 2012 SUMMER ECLECTIC RESULTS
GM, that's why there are two leaderboards.
The first one is straight to par where you achieved a creditable sixth. This leaderboard was the one that was reported on every so often. The second one tries to take into account that everybody played this on different courses. You slipped one place.
It's not an exact science and there will never be a way to make this "fair" for everyone. If you have a suggestion that you think would cover your scenario I would be more than willing to hear it.
I would also refer you to rule 11 of the eclectic which included it's just for a bit of fun. I also chose not to enforce rule 11 which had declared that I was to be the winner of the Summer Eclectic and amongst other things what I say goes
Ban - Must have been a change between the Winter and Summer tee boxes and SSS. Tried to check PMs etc but I must have deleted them to save space for incoming messages. Anyway back to rule 11
Thinking about doing it again; will probably make it 6 rounds between November and March just so I have a chance of playing and finishing in November

I'll tell you a story about our "pitch and putt". It's been in existence for over 100 years and in all that time the best anybody has managed is two under par (and that has only been achieved in the last couple of years - before that it was 1 under). And we've had pro-ams with the likes of Paul Way when he was a Ryder Cupper playing (not recently admittedly). It's not long, but it's no pushover. We had a team come up from the Solent in the Mail on Sunday - all 1 and 2 handicappers. They asked what the course record was and when told said "We'll have that". They went back having lost 4-1.

It's OK, I didn't take offence. It's a little 9 holer - Bexleyheath. On paper it's quite short, but it's also quite hilly, so holes that look like they might be driveable on the card aren't. Helps if you can fade a ball too - which I'm working at!!
