When will Edinburgh next win a game?
First topic message reminder :
2 rounds of the Heineken Cup played and we've failed to sore a single point. In both these matches we've been massively outplayed, embarrassingly so.
In the league we're 9th with just 2 wins.
Looking at the fixtures list, and how poor Edinburgh are at the moment I can't see where the next win is going to be.
Edinburgh V Scarlets - Lost 28-29
Ulster V Edinburgh
Edinburgh V Ospreys
Connacht V Edinburgh
Racing Metro V Edinburgh
Edinburgh V Racing Metro
Glasgow V Edinburgh
Edinburgh V Glasgow
Edinburgh V Lenister
Edinburgh V Muster
Saracnes V Edinburgh
Munster V Edinburgh
Edinburgh V Blues - Maybe a chance here...

I hope the junkies will be putting out a proper team for both legs of the 1872 cup this year - it's no fun thrashing your thirds

Please note Edinburgh fans. This is a match very close to Asbo's heart as he was the one to present the prize at the first meeting of the 2 sides!

Don't I at least get to offend somebody before you ban me?
I had to chose eventually and the weegie guys are neighbours. My kids are really lucky, to them warriors are a local club.
Part of the reason that the 2 pro sides need to move on and build a decent fan base is so that the SRU can start to think about starting a third club again.

Well a sickening result at Murrayfield, losing 28-29
Much better spirit shown by the boys although atrocious defence in the first half

Re: When will Edinburgh next win a game?
Yup, some great spirit by Edinburgh but sloppy defence in first half and an inability to close out were costly. If I were to blame any one player I would blame MacInally. He was terrific in attack but his defence tonight was very poor. He went far too high on North to allow a try and he fumbled a ball right on the try line to allow Scarlets to score another easy try. Perhaps just a bad game for him, but he effectively conceded 14 points tonight.

Re: When will Edinburgh next win a game?
Yeah, wasn't his best game. Impressed with Lenords kicking though.
Biggest gripe with t
Edinburgh, apart from wafer thin defence in the first half is lack of management. Before the 4th try, they had a lineout with a minute on the clock till half time. They should have kept the ball, picked and drives and see out the half 19 all. Instead they panic, bad kick, bad defence and conceded the 4 try.
Similarly which the score so close what was Scott thinking with that run and mad pass? Would have be better to take contact or failing that boot the ball away.
Still signs of progress at least

Very unlucky. Good last quarter and some silly Scarlets play let gunners show they have what it takes.

Re: When will Edinburgh next win a game?
Yeah very true Glove, top teams like Leinster, Ulster are so good at that. Edinburgh's game management has been pretty darn awful. I think against the Blues they did a good job to close out but since then they have been very muddled. Its annoying because they're more than capable of controlling a game but keep stuffing it up.
On a positive note, play between forwards and backs was very good tonight and lots of gaps were exploited. More of that with a smarter game strategy should hopefuly = some wins soon! I don't mind all these losses as long as the team can click and show their true potential.
I was impressed with front row tonight, particularly Nel, he's a great carrier and a decent scrummager. Needs to be starting every game I think and he'll hopefully just get better and better.

Re: When will Edinburgh next win a game?
True, definitely saw some encouraging signs.
Don't hold out much hope for the away trip to Ravenhill next week. But reckon the Ospreys at home sounds tasty now.

Hang on one cotton pickin moment!!
All this encouragement from Belfast was not supposed to set you up for the performance of the season in Ravenhill!!!!!
Fair is fair lads!
That's right, you have that game against the Os as your "breakthrough" game, okay?

Well 45-20 the final score at Ravenhill.
Hard to believe we were 10-3 up at one stage. The drought continues...

Re: When will Edinburgh next win a game?
I think Edinburgh could be fired up to beat Ospeys, however if they don't it could be Edinburgh V Racing Metro as they have be humilated in Europe so far, and will want to put some pride back, away in France may be to much of an ask but home, could be the one
after that Edinburgh V Glasgow is the next game they would be desprate to win, they won't like their neighbours lording it over them at the top of the table while Edinburgh are on th eother end, winning the 1872 cup would at least put a little pride back in Edinburgh.

Re: When will Edinburgh next win a game?
I agree that the 1872 is now hugely significant for Edinburgh. I can't see Bradley keeping his job if Edinburgh are defeated over those fixtures. It's a great opportunity to stoke some pride back in Edinburgh rugby. Further capitulation and the SRU simply cannot defend him. His record is awful. Those games ought to be his last chance.
We are out of the HC, no question. If anything we should be conserving our best players for the league rather than the HC now, as our place in the league and winning the 1872 Cup is all that's left to play for, other than pride.

Re: When will Edinburgh next win a game?
I'm depressed by the whole affair
After the 6n's whitewash I was hopeing Edijnburgh would provide something to be cheerful over.
Alas
Its got me thinking though
Andy Robinson was rather good at Edinburgh. Can't we put him back there? Send Bradley to do like community coaching or something and then put Sean Lineen into the national coach position?
I dunno. Just saying............

I wouldn't reshuffle like that. When Bradley goes, I want an outsider to come in, following a proper top class search. None of this jobs for the boys amateur stuff. Same when Robinson eventually leaves his Scotland post. Let's just get the best available coach, and approach the process with no pre-conceived ideas.

Re: When will Edinburgh next win a game?
Can't see wright or Chalmers getting offered the job - judging by their chat on Twitter their bridges are well and truly burned!
First man that needs to go is the defense coach - he should be so embarrassed he should quit. Pretty sure we've lost 25 tries in 6 games.
I'll just let that sink in for a minute.

Re: When will Edinburgh next win a game?
Shortly followed by the attack coach!! How many points have we scored in the HC this season......infinitely awful!!?
I'm usually pretty loyal to coaches, but the Edinburgh set-up needs to be fired en masse and a new head coach appointed with his own people. My conditions are as per the above, (1) win the 1872 Cup and they can stay until the end of the season. (2) Anything less than a mid-table finish at the end of the season and that's it.
I don't give a stuff about performance. Buy Dan Parks from Connacht and loan Graeme Morrison from Glasgow for all I care, start winning some sodding games!

On 21 Dec - brace of tries each for Hogg, Maitland, Schlong and Seymour (in the first half - all converted) v one from Visser (unconverted). 2nd half braces for Dunbar and Jackson (all converted by Horne) v one from Visser (unconverted). Penalty each.
Final score 87 - 13. Warriors finish with 11 on the pitch - Changeleng is the referee !. No losing bp for Edinburgh - close though. Matawalu and Strauss share MOM. 3 Jan - finishes 9 - 9 at the Library. Edinburgh are narrowing the gap !!!

Indeed Bradley needs to go - and we need new blood from outside - young ambitious men not failures in other teams ( although almost all coaching jobs end in failure)
When a team implodes as Edinburgh have done its clear the coach has to carry the can
