When will Edinburgh next win a game?
First topic message reminder :
2 rounds of the Heineken Cup played and we've failed to sore a single point. In both these matches we've been massively outplayed, embarrassingly so.
In the league we're 9th with just 2 wins.
Looking at the fixtures list, and how poor Edinburgh are at the moment I can't see where the next win is going to be.
Edinburgh V Scarlets - Lost 28-29
Ulster V Edinburgh
Edinburgh V Ospreys
Connacht V Edinburgh
Racing Metro V Edinburgh
Edinburgh V Racing Metro
Glasgow V Edinburgh
Edinburgh V Glasgow
Edinburgh V Lenister
Edinburgh V Muster
Saracnes V Edinburgh
Munster V Edinburgh
Edinburgh V Blues - Maybe a chance here...

If so I would recommend they do what Saracens do. Have a week team bonding. Preferably another country just to re group mentally.
Edinburgh have good players. The problem seems to be confidence.
If the problem is indeed the coach and management I would have a wholesale clear out. Why not look at the likes of Brian Ashton or Dave Ellis?
IMO in scotland in the coaching we need new blood from outside. A young ambitious up and coming coach. So if the coach needs to got hats what I would go for - antipodean probably. Ok it would be a stepping stone to a big job for them but its better than people who have already failed

Re: When will Edinburgh next win a game?
Focus on the process not the outcome.
Step one is sort out the scrum and lineout. Worry about the defensive failities and general malaise after that because you can do bollix all without a set piece.
The Heino is gone but at least go out with a few better performances and hopefully the results will take care of themselves.
In terms of the Rabo well its just about plugging away and hope the teams above slip up.

As has been said we've got a 5 day turnaround, what have the Scarlets got?
6 Day turnaroung, so not really that much difference as such.
I am not too sure about the injury front, Jon Davies was missing this weekend, and there were a few who imo were not running anywhere near 100%. Given the Scarlets poor run of form at the moment, only win in the last five was Dragons at home (and an iffy decision in our favour), Rhys Priestland's lack of confidence witht he boot, and Edinburgh being at home, I really would not be suprised to see Edinburgh pick up the win in a rather tight game by 1-6 points.

Agree with Rodders. Scrum, lineout and restarts. Do little else until those function like clockwork.
Less bothered about the team bonding exercises, unless the idea is to send them to that Polish freezer experience over the winter months.
To my mind all our issues stemmed from an utterly shambolic pre-season. Any of us who had the misfortune to be sitting in the stands for the Saints pre-season fixture could have foretold that this season wasn't going to be a success. Zero intensity, and half the squad isn't properly fit. Hopeless. I haven't quite decided what to do with Bradley yet, but if there's no response by the end of the year (and that means winning the derbies), then a new coach is needed (and I'll have a think about replacements shortly).

A lot of talk on the coaches. And that in particular Neil back has brought hee haw to the table.
Good players are not always good coaches!
I think the team need someone to look up to. Or someone to scare the living daylights of them so they know not to loose.
So, anyone know if John Jefferies has ever done coaching? He scared the bejesus out of me when I saw him.

I was quite happy with Back's appointment, but I agree that I am yet to see any positives in the forwards this year. Lineout is a shambles, rucking is appalling. If anything our rucking has gone from one of the best in the league to easily the worst!
You're right - I don't see any of those coaches being overly scary if you don't perform.

I would sack Neil Back. Unfortunately he and a certain other England rugby legend have shown that sometimes you can't turn a world class player into a world class coach.

Re: When will Edinburgh next win a game?
You guys are clearly missing Van der Westhuizen, this guy hit rucks very hard and your current 2nd rows are tired i think, Earle has considerably improved the Scarlets pack, VdW will do the same.
Glasgow buy Strauss out of his contract at the lions, Edinburgh could have done the same i feel.
He has played what, something like 12 games in a row during the currie cup, he will not be very fresh.

Sorry RDW, and I did not see yesterday's fiasco, but from your comments and others I believe Cross and Ford played to their abysmal recent form. No doubt that will wash over Idiot Robinson, who is likely to make Cross his new Captain or some such stupidity for the AIs. Who was Captain yesterday ?

I say we trick Euan Murray into believing that the All Black game is on a Saturday OR we injure all the All Black props in the first 5 minutes so that scrums are uncontested in which case we should only lose about half the scrums on our own ball... Yeah...

All I know is I cannot wait for our front row to destroy Edinburgh's on 21 December - and the 29 too I suppose. Right enough nothing new there tbh !

unfortunately the 5 tim visser tries will all come from interceptions of jacksons floaty loopy passes that are easily read... and thus ends the nations hopes in another young fly-half

Re: When will Edinburgh next win a game?
Looks like Edinburgh are trying their hardest to create some support in the home crowd on Friday and inspire the team by giving out free flags and scarves.

Not anticipating that will cheer you up. Sorry Embra fans. Hope Edinburgh bounce back. The Pro12 needs a strong Scottish contingent!

Sad sad situation for the Pro12, HC and 6Nations that rugby union in Scotland is dying at the top level.
They need to do more to stop the rot.

Ok, I'm gonna risk pelters from some for this one. . .does anyone know how much Toonie was involved in the Edinburgh training last season.
No really think about it, at this time last year Glasgow couldn't buy a try, this year Edinburgh can't.

Sorry should explain where I'm coming from. Born and brought up in Edinburgh, a couple of years in London. Moved to Glasgow in 2000.
Not trying to put the boot into either team, they both need to be strong. There's something really wrong in Edinburgh just now tho', and I thought this could be a factor.

One child born in Edinburgh and the other in Glasgow, guess who they support! I only have problems of loyalty 2 days a year but 3 or 4 years ago I realised I'd gone over to the dark side......Glasgow.

Well I was born in neither! Born in Dunfermline but grew up in Kirkcaldy...... I support Edinburgh by default as an east coast thing. My playing club was Kirkcaldy though and our pro district was the Caley Reds...... whatever happened to them?
