Hatton Confirms It's Primetime For Comeback
First topic message reminder :
Hatton Confirms Primetime as UK broadcaster for
comeback fight against Senchenko
What: Hatton vs. Senchenko
When: From 7pm, 24th November 2012
Where: Manchester Arena
Watch: Exclusively on Primetime, Channel 498 on Sky, Virgin on Demand and Primetime Website (click here)
Hatton Promotions have today confirmed that Primetime will be the exclusive live UK broadcaster for Ricky Hatton’s epic comeback fight against Vyacheslav Senchenko. The pay-per-view broadcaster will broadcast the headline fight as well as the full undercard on channel 498 on Sky, Virgin on Demand and streamed live via their website www.primetimeboxing.co.uk.
When Hatton retired last year it was with a record of 45 wins and only two defeats. After his defeat of Tszyu in 2005, Hatton began to make a mark on the world boxing scene. He went on to become a world champion in two weight divisions and garnered a massive international fan base, making him one of the biggest British fighters of all time.
His defeat against Manny Pacquiao in May 2009 not only knocked Hatton off his feet, but was a massive blow to his self-esteem and identity.
The 24th November fight against Senchenko promises to lay some demons to rest and be marked as one of the greatest comebacks in boxing history. The ‘Hitman’ himself has stressed the personal importance of returning to the ring not just to have a comeback but to ‘redeem himself’ to his family and fans.
"I want British boxing to be proud of me again," Hatton professed. "The only way to convince everyone I'm back is by flattening someone on 24th November."
Since its launch in 2009 Primetime has offered viewers a host of premium boxing events to British audiences. Over the last three years the channel has been proud to show some of the world’s greatest fighters, from British champions Carl Froch and Amir Khan to international heavy hitters Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao.
For the Hatton vs. Senchenko fight, Primetime will also be providing the world feed as well as the pay-per-view for viewers in the UK and Ireland.
“To be offered this opportunity, to broadcast Hatton vs. Senchenko, is a huge deal for us.” said Director of programming Chris Ratcliff.
“This could be the start of a comeback tale of Hollywood proportions! We will support Ricky and his team all the way and wish all the best for him on 24th November.”
Ricky Hatton vs. Vyacheslav Senchenko will be shown live on Primetime, Channel 498 on Sky and Virgin-On-Demand, on Saturday 24th November for only £14.95. To order call 0871 200 4444 or go online to Primetime Website (click here)

Just dont understand why we have to pay for a non title fight over ten rounds, yet in your subscription (if you have it), you get to watch a world title fight over 12 rounds, with a former world title challenger fighting as support. And in HD.
Whats wrong with Stoke on Trent?!
Because the superduper HD sports broadcaster that you (and me) already subscribe to don't want the fight? There is nothing more sinister or conspiratorial than that. If Sky really wanted it, they would have bid aggressively for it, won the rights and stuck it on Sky Sports 1. You can't expect Primetime to say 'ok we don't have HD and will really upset the boxing fraternity if we get this fight so lets not bother bidding for a fight that no-one else wants'. It makes perfect sense for them.
Nothing wrong with S-on-T. I went to a errm 'gentlemen's' club' there once and the ladies were lovely. The ones that didn't keep breathing stale tobacco smoke in my face, that was.
From where? I just ask because I went to one of these places in Bangkok and they went to lengths to ensure the cigarettes they were smoking didn't make their mouths smell.

From their gobs, IG. This was Stoke-on-Trent pal, they are simple folk and it wasn't that niche a club.....

Anyway, this is probably more suited to the ping pong board. Or darts.
Erm. Hatton. Primetime.
Why is it the normal price when it's only ten rounds? That's £1.50 per round instead of the usual £1.25 which is (a) an outrage , and (b) hopefully back on topic.

He does seem rather unflappable in the face of all the gentle ribbing/furious anger directed towards him and his employer on here.

Re: Hatton Confirms It's Primetime For Comeback
ive got a feeling that sky did want the hatton fight, if there not intrested in it doesnt exist on sky sports news, but when his comeback was annouced he was on it all the time. they were building it up for a while. think primetime outbid sky and sky werent willing to pay stupid amounts for a poor fight on paper. cant really blame them realy.
ive also noticed the distint lack of hatton on ssn since it was annouced it was going to be on primetime

I'm curious to know how many people buy this in the end as it is likely to be Primetime's biggest night since I have heard of them. Don't suppose you are going to share that with us are you?

Got to say that is a decent team, always thought Dempsey was one of the better presenters, Darke is about the best commentator in my books, Rhodes has been good on the occasions I have seen him and would guess Malignaggi would be good value as he is not short of an opinion.

I see you've unfortunately managed to bag the 4th instalment of Pacman v Marquez, this comes only 2 weeks after you're PPV event on Sat, with the lead up to Christmas, you can't expect many to shell 30 quid.
Will you be offering any discounts of both part as a package?
Cheers Rodders

I refuse to subscribe to PrimeTime, it would have to be manny v Floyd before I'd even consider it - PPV platforms for sub standard fights are part of the reason boxing has become such a marginalised sport. Add to that the fact PrimeTime is a Mickey Mouse outfit with two bob coverage (no offence) I'd rather wipe my arris with the money.

I'll be buying Pacquiao vs Marquez IV, no way am I paying £15 for Hatton's comeback, he has been out of the ring for 3 years!
I have pretty much bought all ppv boxing shows primetime have got, including the entire super six. £15 for this is an absolute joke.

Re: Hatton Confirms It's Primetime For Comeback
Pwned is a corruption of the word "owned."
This originated in an online game called Warcraft, where a map designer misspelled "owned." When the computer beat a player, it was supposed to say, so-and-so "has been owned."
Instead, it said, so-and-so "has been pwned."
It basically means "to own" or to be dominated by an opponent or situation, especially by some god-like or computer-like force.
So now you know.

Howzit pronounced then, Union?
I've seen in written on the boards on numerous occasions (mainly people telling TRUSS he's been "pwned" but can't say I've heard it out loud.
Mind you, if it's online gamers who tend to use it, the vast majority don't venture outside their bedroom except to queue up for the latest version of "Call of Duty" and they don't speak except to say a muted "ta" to the cashier before scurrying back to their foetid pits and immerse themselves in their latest computerised w@nk-a-thon.

Because pwn is primarily used in written form, it has no single generally accepted pronunciation: renditions include /ˈoʊn/OHN, /ˈpoʊn/POHN, /pəʔˈoʊn/pə'-OHN, /ˈpɔːn/PAWN, /piːˈoʊn/pee-OHN, and /ˈpwiːn/PWEEN. Originally, pwn and its variants were pronounced /ˈoʊn/ in the same way as the verb own, the tail of the p being "silent". A notable usage of this pronunciation can be seen in the Internet distributed series Pure Pwnage (pronounced "pure ownage" /ˈpjʊər ˈoʊnɨdʒ/).[8]
Where speakers vocalize the p, pronunciations include pwen, "pwin", pawn, "pone", pun[9] and pwone.[10]
Always happy to help.

Them and youngsters, as I alluded to when originally quoting the colloquialism.
That being the case I'm surprised you haven't heard of it, LJ.
I've heard it before, but ive always treated it with the contempt it deserves, like those who say totes amaze instead of the full words. Shocking.
I shall not be speaking that way anytime soon.

Thanks Union, however, I'll stick with my Jonathon Ross version. I agree with your hatred of the current "yoof" trend re the mangling of our beautiful language
"It's like well proper an' good if you like know wot I mean tho'"
"I truly appreciate what you're trying to communicate young lady but can I just have my Big Mac and get the hell out of here?"
