Jeff : The plight of the north
With Sale 0 from 7 and with only two BPs and now more than of a quarter of their season gone, things look bleak.
Most people had expected Wuss and Oxford to be vying for the drop but Sale's plight is beginning to look stark.
The Championship is looking to favour Newcastle.
Should Sale go down and Newcastle go up, Newcastle's nearest away game will be all but 190 miles away in Leicester leaving a massive swathe of the North unrepresented (as it does now - except Newcastle is way oop north even compared with Salford and Leeds).
But the Jeff genuinely needs Sale's survival to remain meaningful as a representative English league or alongside Wales and Scotland will look like southern-only nations.
If both Sale and Newcastle falter in their campaigns, then the Jeff will be competed at or south of the Trent.

Re: Jeff : The plight of the north
Long old season GT.
I still expect London Welsh to be honourably dispatched, however Sale going down would not neccessarily be the end of the world given how all but Leeds have benefited from their Championship campaigns.
I just hope the international games interference is not such that the outcome is skewed. As much as possible it should be a far fight!
Having said all that it is very possible that the Sharks will have blown off both their feet and all their coaches/directors of rugby by then - so the trap door may very well be their fate.

When he was in control of the team last season they finished 6th. It's since he concentrated on off field matters It's all gone to hell.

Sale have a strong team - and now are not playing badly. Worcester away is tough.
They will start winning soon and will be helped during int windows.

Will it though?
In the AI window, the Sale fixture list is
November 2012
Fri 2 Sale Sharks v London Irish, Salford City Stadium, Salford
Sat 24 Gloucester Rugby v Sale Sharks, Kingsholm, Gloucester
Fri 30 Sale Sharks v Northampton Saints, Salford City Stadium, Salford
Time for the inaugural meeting of the Campaign for Real Sale.

I reckon Sale will win both of those home matches. Saints struggle when dnuded of int players and LI have rather iffy form.

Garrrgg! Yes, as Chief Exec or whatever his position is, but the real issue is Redpath. He is completely and utterly useless!
