Mauritius, The Heritage, anyone played it?
Going here for a couple of weeks at the end of January, got free unlimited use of the range and course for the period.wife said it is not to be a "winter training camp"! Looks good from photos and small reviews I have been able to find. Any of you golfing aficionados been and have any comments to make would be welcome.

Re: Mauritius, The Heritage, anyone played it?
I stayed at the Heritage Awali for honeymoon 3 months ago and used the course twice, stunning golf course, extremely well kept with fantastic views of the surrounding valleys/mountains (take your camera). They have have great practice facilities and during our stay they also offered a complimentary lesson with the PGA pro. Even my wife who would only play an occassional round normally loved it.
If you haven't already done so, check with your airline if you can bring your own clubs as Emirates for example don't charge anything, club hire charge (although they were top of the range R11's) and buggy (wife didn't want to walk round) were £100 per round per pair.
Was our first trip to Mauritius and loved the place and would love to go back. Both Heritage hotels are stunning (you get to use the facilities at both), the service/food variety/drinks were first class and the location of both to the beach were awesome.
Hope you have a great time!

Cheers Gareth. Thanks for the info. I'm flying with Air Mauritius direct and golf club carriage is complimentary so no snags on that front. You've definitely wetted my appetite !!

Not sure if you already have it, but I think it's featured in latest Golf World magazine (one of this month's golfing destination highlights).
Looks amazing from the photos if it is one and the same.

Thanks all. I've been lucky and fortunate enough to play golf in some great places recently, Belek in Turkey, Abu Dhabi, Dubai and the Carribean so really looking forward to this one. I'll post a report on here once I've been. Thanks one again for info.

Re: Mauritius, The Heritage, anyone played it?
Brought back many happy memories thinking of the resort and the course this morning.... Really can't recommend it enough, tbh Golf wasn't in our thinking prior to heading and we didn't even look into it priorly, when we got there and had our first round we were overwhelmed. When we both returned home and reviewed pictures/activities that we had undertaken, we both wished we had played more often. We took quite a few pictures of the course but tbh the pictures don't do it justice.
Course is quite hilly with fast/tiered greens, semi rough is not too different to UK however the after semi rough you are into 2/3 ft of thick straw like rough which is near impossible. One thing I noticed was the vast difference in local grass and course grass... I imagine much like Florida and Bermuda grass.
