Scarlets vs Cardiff Blues - LV Cup
Teams
Scarlets: Liam Williams, Kristian Phillips, Gareth Maule, Gareth Owen, Andy Fenby, Dan Newton, Rhodri Williams; Shaun Hopkins, Kirby Myhill, Samson Lee, Jake Ball, Johan Snyman, Craig Price, Johnathan Edwards (capt), Kieran Murphy.
Replacements: Emyr Phillips, Phil John, Jacobie Adriaanse, Joel Galley, Dan Thomas, Gareth Davies, Aled Thomas, Nick Reynolds.
Cardiff Blues: Dan Fish, Harry Robinson, Owen Williams, Gavin Evans, Tom James, Gareth Davies, Robert Lewis; Sam Hobbs, Marc Breeze, Ryan Harford, Macauley Cook, James Down, Luke Hamilton, Thomas Young, Andries Pretorius.
Replacements: Rhys Williams, Campese Mafu'u, Foa Filise, Cory Hill, Rory Watts-Jones, Lloyd Williams, Ceri Sweeney, Rhys Patchell.
.......................
The Blues have made 8 changes. Interestingly, Patchell returns from injury on the bench, but it looks like he is covering centre
Sweeney stays on the bench despite coming off the bench and winning the game for the Blues last week - Davies clearly isn't picking his strongest team in the only competition we have left to win.
Fairly strong Scarlets lineup with some talented backs, they might be weak in the forwards though, but I expect Lee to give them the stronger scrum.
Should be a pretty close game.

Why isnt dan thomas in the team? Grr. Great to have samson back but its a bit of a shame as adriaanse needs gametime b4 the hec and xmas derbies. Think our front 5 could edge the blues' but ur backrow is much better. Good to see patchell back but where is stodds?

Re: Scarlets vs Cardiff Blues - LV Cup
I think the Blues could miss Navidi and Copeland in the backrow.
The front 5 don't look great - Cook was lightweight last season, and Hill was prefered (and did well) so it will be interesting to see Cook at lock. Hobbs and Breeze will give a bit of grunt up front, not so sure about Hartford.
I can't really call this game one way or the other, perhaps the Blues replacements (especially the forwards) will edge it for them.
Also, just noticed Lloyd Williams on the bench...pleasantly surprised they haven't started him - Haven't seen much of Rob Lewis yet, so it will be interesting to see how he goes.
The game is on S4C tomorrow by the way.

O.Williams seems to be prefered and Rhys Williams is having a good run of games.

Israel 40 - 3 Gaza according to latest body counts.
Quite sad really, their arguing over religion and land again, when we all know it's the Mormons who have things correct, I know because they said do on South Park.

I don't like to see 3rd tier nations getting 40 put on them by a big power. It's completely unfair, the UN should intervene to ensure that both have equal access to ballistic missile - but I can't see it happening while the third world nations don't have the financial capital. I also think it is completely unfair that Israel clearly had a lot more preparation time for this war.

Blues attack play has been lovely so far, fair play!!
And theyve done this thing a couple of times where they are tackled and when on the floor or their feet they throw the ball to their own man into a bit of space? WHAT IS THAT?

Scarlets taking a scrum with a penalty 10M out. Blues need to hold out

It must be confusing, try watching Leinster or the All Black more often

Tom James looks sharp again, and very eager to both makes yards and tackle (and spin way too much)

Why is it only the Blues ever get a pen try first time of asking 10 metres out, don't tell me reputations aren't in the refs minds!!!

Yep, very odd decision - after 2 or 3 attempts, not after the first which should be a penalty.

Patchell when he gets off the bench - we need a flyhalf from somewhere after Preistland, Howley and Hook disappear mysteriously...

Re: Scarlets vs Cardiff Blues - LV Cup
It's because the Blues were going backwards at a rate of knots and collapsed it, if they didnt pull it down they were going over their try line.

Exact same scrummage, Harford is being board into and Breeze is ending up on his back under Mafi's legs???

G.Davies kicks the restart dead - Scrum - Penalty.
Stupid
Why do we have our 4th choice fly half on the pitch and our 1st and 2nd on the bench?

To be fair to the ginge he has shown all the attributes you'd want; the complete fly-half like Dan Carter is. Hope he progresses.
I was hoping to see Rhodri Williams(or G.Davies) and Liam Williams in the 23 against NZ myself.

Rob Lewis takes a quick tap and passes to the Scarlets
Luckily Owen Williams is pacy enough to catch the Scarlets winger - but its still a Scarlet penalty.

Unlikely at SH - Mike Phillips will play 80 minutes hopefully.

How do you rate Owen? Surely it's time he was in the Rabo Pro 12 team with Roberts on his way, same can be said about Corey Allen.
Cory Hill is better than your 2nd rows starting the game tonight (imo).

I think O.Williams or Allen need to be given a chance.
I don't understand starting Cook over Hill based on the last time I saw the two (which was a while ago to be fair)
I also don't understand not starting our 1st team in the only competition we can win.

A good kick and some poor defence from Fish almost gives the Scarlets a try
Good scramble defence
Scarlets scrum 15M out though, I hope Filise makes a difference
