Scarlets vs Cardiff Blues - LV Cup
First topic message reminder :
Teams
Scarlets: Liam Williams, Kristian Phillips, Gareth Maule, Gareth Owen, Andy Fenby, Dan Newton, Rhodri Williams; Shaun Hopkins, Kirby Myhill, Samson Lee, Jake Ball, Johan Snyman, Craig Price, Johnathan Edwards (capt), Kieran Murphy.
Replacements: Emyr Phillips, Phil John, Jacobie Adriaanse, Joel Galley, Dan Thomas, Gareth Davies, Aled Thomas, Nick Reynolds.
Cardiff Blues: Dan Fish, Harry Robinson, Owen Williams, Gavin Evans, Tom James, Gareth Davies, Robert Lewis; Sam Hobbs, Marc Breeze, Ryan Harford, Macauley Cook, James Down, Luke Hamilton, Thomas Young, Andries Pretorius.
Replacements: Rhys Williams, Campese Mafu'u, Foa Filise, Cory Hill, Rory Watts-Jones, Lloyd Williams, Ceri Sweeney, Rhys Patchell.
.......................
The Blues have made 8 changes. Interestingly, Patchell returns from injury on the bench, but it looks like he is covering centre
Sweeney stays on the bench despite coming off the bench and winning the game for the Blues last week - Davies clearly isn't picking his strongest team in the only competition we have left to win.
Fairly strong Scarlets lineup with some talented backs, they might be weak in the forwards though, but I expect Lee to give them the stronger scrum.
Should be a pretty close game.

Re: Scarlets vs Cardiff Blues - LV Cup
and Scarlets can't handle the Sweeney kick. 22 drop out ends up in a Blues scrum near the Scarlets 22 as the Scarlets knock on.

High tackle
16 - 16
This game is about as close as I expected, if less entertaining (partly due to a whistle happy ref)

Stupid offload by Harry Robinson gifts Scarlets possession and an overlap
Result - YC for Hamilton and a kickable penalty for the Scarlets.

Re: Scarlets vs Cardiff Blues - LV Cup
ref giving the scarlets the game now, Hamilton carded for contesting???
Maule no arm challenge and Hobbs gets carded for similar.
Scarlets have beenm very clever 2nd half nullifying the blues threat and deserve this.

Blues scrum destroyed on their own possession
What a surprise...
Probably cost us any chance we had now.

Just a point Scarlets get the pen from the scrum because it's going forward, I didn't see an infringement from the blues, they were just beaten, why not let the scarlets keep going?

Re: Scarlets vs Cardiff Blues - LV Cup
Lloyd Williams taps a penalty in his own half
Sweeney forced to kick it downfield.
Complete lack of a brain
Some good defensive work from Patchell.
And Lloyd Williams kicks away possession again!

Blues will have to score from halfway with Lloyd Williams on the pitch!

How does Brynmor justify forcing the Blues to play this Muppet (not that he does but someone has to be)

Finally somebody wrestles the ball from Lloyd to kick for the corner.

Harry Robinson patted into touch - why on earth is he in the Wales squad?
Blues get one last chance from halfway
Tom James throws the ball forward

Lloyd Williams is a danger to his own team, bloody hopeless, trying to play the game Howleys way, by kicking away posession at every oportunity.

Yep, should be 3rd choice at the Blues let alone for Wales (and he is only 3rd choice because we don't have a 4th SH)

It saves the Blues the embaresment of conceeding a push over try from the half way line!
Scarlets scrum has been poor this season but they were pushing the Blues about at will, what is going on?
Tough call on the yellow card for Hamilton, I didn't see anything to warrent that! But from the slow mo replays Hobbs was lucky just to get a yellow, what an idiot! May be cited yet though?

We were calling for another scrum after that one, after all we could have made our way to the tryline 10m at a time.

Talking to a lad at work earlier (who knows Hamilton) apparently Hamilton told the ref it was his hands killing the ball (or something like that) to take the fall for Hobbs (who was on a yellow already).
