Decision making or taking the points.
Over the last few weeks we have seen teams with plenty of territory and possession lose because they did`nt convert them into points.
Pressure etc usually means chances to score points via penalties or drops going for the scrum or corner looks great if you score from it.
Stupid if you don`t especially when behind take the points and maybe lose the match,England,Scotland,Wales and the Boks were guilty
of this.
In two of those matches it could have been the difference of winning and losing,in a third the chance of setting up a win.
I`m old fashioned enough that IF you get a chance in the Red Zone take it keep the scoreboard ticking if your in front
the other side is under pressure.

This is exactly why teams need to incorporate more attacking skills and strategies into their repertoire. Being between 10 and 15 points below forces sides in kicking to touch at attacking penalty time.
The majority of teams dont get their points through try scoring yet so often they revert to it as the only solution. Scotland did that yesterday. So after the inevitable trading of penalties once a side gets to the 10+ point buffer they know they just need to defend.
Captains use these two reasons for not kicking the goals:
- 3 points aint enough, and we took so long to get here we might either miss it, or not get back here for another go.
- The adrenaline kicks in. Dominating territory and possession in the other sides half leads them into falsely thinking this dominance will result in a try...WRONG.
As weve seen teams have possession and territory for long periods because they CAN'T score, not because they can.
I'm convinced attack is king in todays game so on that basis Alan, yes the kicks must definitely be taken as theyre more likely to get 2 or 3 penalties through possession than they are must get tries. And this is because when they need tries, they dont have the appropriate skill levels.
