Say what you like IRB Rankings are B******S
If Argentina beat Ireland by a point and Wales lose by 50 to NZ Wales move above Ireland in the rankings. I love Wales but that has to be B******S hasn't it?

The opposite is also true, if Wales beat NZ by 1 point they get 2 ranking point gain and if Ireland beat Argentina by plenty, they will get much less than Wales.
NZ is more than 10 ranking points clear of Wales, hence no penalty for Wales if they lose.

I understand the Math but it should not be possible for us to lose and lose heavily as is likely, and be rewarded with a higher ranking. Do you really disagree with that?

On the basis that NZ is so far ahead on the rankings yes. Was it any other team it wouldn't have happened.
It is what it is. Next yeR Ireland might benefit. Swing and roundabouts.

That's only valid if you exist in isolation to everyone else. You can't gain points from someone you lose to.
Here's another way of looking at it. Ireland 'should' beat Argentina at home. Wales 'should' get battered by New Zealand. If Ireland lose to Argentina it's big shock and they deserve to lose ranking points.
That's the key. Ignore the position (only valid for seeding). It's the ranking points. I generally consider any sides within around a 3 point blanket as 'equal' (as in they can move around from one off games). Regardless of position. It's generally been New Zealand out in front. South Africa and Australia behind them. Then should of the 6 nation sides, odd one pulling in front of others. Then the 'weaker' 6 nation sides. Argentina somewhere mixed in with the odd PI team floating up depending on their results.

Wales don't lose any ranking points against NZ given the gap between the two teams.
The point is that if Ireland lose to Argentina at home, then will lose a certain amount of ranking points. Thus, they DROP a place lower than Wales.
Same happened last weekend where Ireland didn't even play a test match and they got a higher ranking because Wales dropped beneath them. Ireland stayed on the same points, but still moved to 7th spot.

These IRB rankings are tough all right, The All Blacks havent lost a game in over a year yet have gained only one and a half points.

Are you just saying this because Wales have dropped 2 places from 6th to 8th in the IRB rankins?
