Are Wales the worst granslam champions ever?
Since Wales won the grandslam tey have lost 5 games on the bounce, soon to be six games as its almost a dead cert NZ will win tomorow. Not only that they were played off the park by both Argentina and a tier 2 nation in Samoa who fully deserved their win at the home of Welsh rugby.
It is quite possible Wales could end up with the wooden spoon come the 6 nations.

LAZY POST
My suggestion would be for you to do a little bit of research say the last 25-30 years and see if other GS sides have lost as many games, then provide your own assessment by comparing the GS sides. Then perhaps the rest of us might take this potentially inflamatory post a little bit more serious.
They lost three games to Australia down in Oz in the narrowest of margins over three games, they all were good performances, and ok they have been poor over the last two games but hey that happens to the best of teams.
Best of luck Wales, lets hope you give the All Blacks a great game on the weekend

I thought they were worthy champions actually.
I think it says far more about the rubbish state of Euro Rugby than anything else...

No Wales are very worthy Grandslam champions... comfortably the best side in the NH last season.
This is a new season and it's a clean slate, but they are fully deserving of any plaudits they've recieved to date.

To be fair on Wales theyve only had two bad games. We can ignore the Baabaas game, its not a proper test regardless of the caps they give out.

Yeah, Wales deserved their 6 Nations win.
This season is a completely different kettle of fish though. They're probably the 6Ns side in the worst form (taking nothing away from Samoa are Argentina). A decent performance against NZ and losing by less then 20 or 30 would be an upturn in their fortunes.

Would you say they were worse than Italy Cyril?
Worst form relative to what they are capable of yes.
It is the kind of turnaround that only France and Wales are capable of though.

From what i've seen of the Italy v NZ game, Italy didnt look half bad at all. Are we still classing Italy as an easy team to beat?

I think 'Granslamming' should be illegal. Poor grannies, the Welsh should know better, no respect these days.

If the grans in question are up for it, why should they be denied a good boffing in their twilight years?
Also, having no teeth could be seen as an advantage in some areas.

Rubbish post, look at NZ now and NZ in the RWC, NZ are much better now than in the RWC, France should have won the final but the ref would not give them a penalty they deserved in the last 5 mins. France played poorly for most of the RWC competition and were lucky against Wales to get to the final.

What grannies get up to in the privacy of their own homes is fair enough. But i just feel that professional Gran Slamming has somehow lost the romance of the amateur days.
I can remember turning up at the secluded car park on a frosty November morning watching the grannies lubing up. Ready for a good slamming. Those days are gone now, it's all about performance enhancement these days. Real shame.

No, not worse than Italy but, as you say, in relative terms their form is worse. Italy are performing at par at the moment I'd say. Wales would still probably have beaten them (at home) over the last couple of weekends if they had played.Peter Seabiscuit Wheeler wrote:Would you say they were worse than Italy Cyril?

Re: Are Wales the worst granslam champions ever?
Wales were worthy champions but they probably werent the most convincing champions of all time as they scraped past England and Ireland and ground out a win v France. A win is a win but they rode their luck a bit in a couple of games. So perhaps the slam flattered them a bit but they are definitely better than 6 losses in a row.

I don't get LP.... because North, Roberts and Davies are more adept at running through defences than round them that in some way devalues Wales slam?
I thought Wales were comfortable enough winners to be honest. They entered the tournament as favourites and never really looked like not taking the title once they won in Dublin.

They got the penalty. It's just that they didn't kick the goal.
How are NZ much better now than in the RWC? They were unbeaten then and unbeaten this year. Carter is out again this weekend and there's a gap back to the flyhalves we have available. We lost Brad Thorn and Jerome Kaino and we're still struggling in this area to some extent.

Rodders, what I meant was that we we didn't run away with any of the Six Nations matches. If you listened to some Welsh posters here, you'd think we were a class above everyone else when the truth is we weren't.

Wales are a very good side, with a huge amount of talent within their relatively young squad. As a team, they have a promising future. I just think at the moment, they are in a rut, and need a real confidence booster to blast out of it. Their potential is unquestionable.

Rodders, they were a disallowed try v England away from missing out on a slam. They didnt exactly blast France aside either.

Because it wasn't a try. If it was scored there was no gaurantee it would have been converted. Pure envy of the 'grand slammers'....

I think Wales were a class above. 5 wins over 5 games proves that. Being able grind out wins and ride the luck a bit is the difference between a good side and a champion side. There's no question Wales were the best side last 6N.

I also note that the OP is a berk

If this is true:

And this is true:
'People who agree with other people slagging off their nation and rugby team are lowlives.'
Then surely you, in agreeing with criticism of the national side, are also a lowlife.

I've posted criticism of the performance and the performances of some of the players. Deserved criticism, and constructive (I hope). Others just slag off the team and Wales in general. Here is where you enter the fray.
And you're saying you really couldn't tell the difference?

Just a thought. Maybe the poster of this article should be asking 'Are England the worst RWC winners ever?' They're the only cup holders not to win a trophy during the 4 year cycle post RWC tournament. Their only tournament win came the year before the last world cup, and they couldn't even get the clean sweep ever after purchasing ship loads of Grand Slam 2011 t-shirts.
