The Islanders thread (Tonga beat Scotland)
Tonga back up their shock RWC win over France with a win away to Scotland.
15-21 full time.
Samoa are up against France on the back of two wins against Canada and Wales, both good wins. Fiji are going backwards. What could the IRB do to help develop these poorer rugby nations?

From what I saw Tonga were fully deserving of this win.

There's no doubt about that but Scotland were truly appalling from 1-15, there was no passion, fight, gameplan or skill. It was an embarrassment.LondonTiger wrote:From what I saw Tonga were fully deserving of this win.
Fair play to Tonga, they did look good.

They need regular games in these tours. They need the funding to be able to take advantage of the full training period. That's the first step.

I'm surprised to hear this result. I had predicted this to be the upset but after seeing them v Newcastle admittedly the.second team I thought it should be an easy win for Scotland. Only Fiji have looked like they need help this AI's

Re: The Islanders thread (Tonga beat Scotland)
To be honest, Tonga's basic skill levels, conditioning and fitness seemed light-years ahead of Scotland's today. Let's not forget that it was a stupid, last minute penalty that cost Samoa the game against Scotland two years ago and in the summer Scotland were down 16-10 until the 79th minute. Credit where credit's due, Scotland were dire but it's a shame the infrastructure of the Pacific Islands will probably never improve to the point that they really build on where they are just now.

Looks like Samoa are in pot 2! They are now 8th, ahead of Argentina!
