Haka and Violence
Should we be surprised that within a couple of minutes of doing a war dance, which not that long ago was a precursor to taking heads or loosing yours, that the ABs are in the mood for violence.
If I remember rightly the O'Driscoll incident was within a minute or two of starting the match just like the Bradley one was yesterday. I like watching the Haka and I like tradition but a big part of the purpose of a war dance is to wind the people performing it up to commit acts that with cooler heads they wouldn't do?

Re: Haka and Violence
I wouldn't have thought so, the link to the dance then act.
Na, it's a spectacle, for the crowd's enjoyment. Sure the dance itself may have originated from was dances of old, but no one in their right minds would do the dance and then commit physical harm. Be like saying an actor playing a murderer will kill when he comes off the set.
Well there may be some like that, but they are usually found out before 5th grade...

The Haka is just a bit of pantomime for the fans. No big deal.

Brilliant, if only someone in the crowd had shouted "he's behind you"

Re: Haka and Violence
I think it gets the adrenalin going. It used be a bit of a silly dance 30 yrs ago, when most of the team were of different ethnic origin. You could see them treating it like a kind of Hokey Cokey.
Now it's much more intense and meaningful and probably fills the players to the brim with "hwyl," especially those from non-settler backgrounds. Hence all the stuff about respecting and disrespecing the haka.

Why?
He was in his way and slowing him down, many of us would do the same.
It's a mans game after all.

no doubt it gets the adrenaline flowing - just look at their faces. Does that contribute to incidents like Hores - possibly but I have seen a good few similar incidents over the years from non NZ teams

Re: Haka and Violence
It's a tedious subject now. Come on mods sort this out, and I thought defence of such cowardly actions to wind up fans of other nations was worth a ban? If so, HERSH should receive the same fate as awop.

If your mark of a man is how well he can hit someone from behind then that says a lot about you as a person.

I didn't say it was right but it happens on most rugby pitches every weekend.
Cheap shots are part of the game, if you have played it then you would know that.
Unfortunatly for Wales Hore caught him too well.
