First topic message reminder :

ZebrasRabo Round 10?: Leinster v Zebre (Saturday at 6pm, 1 December @ RDS)

Haven't seen a build up thread so might as well get one going;

Leinster squad update
The Leinster squad stepped up their on-field preparations ahead of this weekend's RaboDirect PRO12 visit of Zebre to the RDS on Saturday evening (KO: 6pm) with a training session in UCD on Monday afternoon

The Leinster management are set to be boosted by the return of their Ireland contingent who defeated Argentina at the weekend. In addition, Heinke van der Merwe, who came off the bench to help the Springboks defeat England in Twickenham on Saturday afternoon, is also set to return to the Leinster panel this week.
The one major negative from Friday night’s win away to Glasgow Warriors was the injury picked up by second row Quinn Roux towards the end of the first half. Following medical assessments at the weekend, it has been confirmed that the young South African dislocated his shoulder and will face a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Aaron Dundon, Isa Nacewa and Sean O’Brien all came through their respective comeback games unscathed and they will also be in the frame again this week.

Luke Fitzgerald, Eoin O’Malley and Dominic Ryan, meanwhile, will be given every opportunity to prove their fitness as they continue their rehab ahead of their comebacks, but this weekend looks set to come too soon once more for all three players.

Pity the three guys aren't back for the HC games this side of Christmas, they will be coming in during the cold/dark christmas window when the ground is frozen and their injured bodies are still tender!

How will Schmidt play this Selection wise? Does he need to play the main side for 80 minutes because we have not had many games with them all available and together this year? Or does he need to allow some of the Irish gang time to recover from the AIs and only give some the first 50 mins or last 30 mins of a run out?

Im sure our next generation of TH's will be able to do both. Furlong was very good around the park in the u20 WC. Also Martin Moore looks a great prospect.

Ross is doing a great job while we wait for these guys to come through.

Furlong looks really good, Bent looked good against S.Africa when he came on. Fitzpatrick could be good if he trimmed himself down a fair bit

I would like to see Furlong on the bench for a few Rabo games but the coaches seem to have Moore ahead of him in the pecking order. I think the two of them have more potential than Hagan.

We really are building good dept at TH. I can see Hagan or Moore moving to Munster soon. Those guys need gametime.

Yeah Hagan in particular, now that Bent is here Hagan is now 3rd choice and doesn't look like he is going to be getting any closer to 1st choice. If I was him I'd head to Munster or Connacht.

I Would like to see what Bent is like on the LH side. We might be a bit light there when vdm leaves.

Exactly, while we will all miss big Heinke, McGrath is always there for backup. And while he isn't as good as Heinke, he can only get better with game time.

We have Mcgrath as backup, then thats it. We don't know yet how good O'Connell is ( although early signs are good) He is still very young and only recently converted to the LH side. He's a year or two behind McGrath in terms of development.

I dislike O'Connell as I still remember his smug face when Clongowes beat my school. I'll never forget it, how tall is he aswell, he seems to be too tall to be a prop.

Yes McGrath is pretty good, he won a penalty against Adam Jones after a succession of scrums.

On the subject of props, i want them to scrummage first and foremost, rest is a bonus.
Give me Paul James over Gethin Jenkins any day.

Agreed, theres nothing worse then absolute dread every time some one knocks the ball on.

Would he keep the rugby ball for getting a hat trick in the game. Thought he played amazing, especially his break from the restart. Zebre didn't kick to him from a restart again after that.
