A solid start for Joe Cole back at the hammers, two assists in a decent display, still don’t think out wide is his best position, to really get the most out of him he needs to operate more central. He'll put a shift in on the wing there’s no doubting that but I’d rather having him where he can affect the play more, Nolan could drop a bit deeper to accommodate?

I think Cole got out of Liverpool at just the right time.
i.e. just before we humble them later today.
Nice gesture by little Mansfield too:

It's a myth that conference football is long ball football these days. I go and watch Wrexham a fair bit due to my dad being a season ticket holder and some of the teams get the ball down play some very good football.
Yea it was really nice to see, we still face a few championship who are prepared to park the bus and go long but was impressed with what they had to offer. Train twice a week, one was a lifeguard and another was a hair products rep.
Hoping for Sunderland in the next round (reply pending) just so we can beat them for a second time this season

You'll be behind Sheff Utd and Tranmere for automatic and lose to Crawley in the playoffs, at least if God has a sense of humour.

Home draw v Wigan or Bournemouth for Macc.
Could have been better certainly but I reckon Bournemouth could shock Wigan and I think we'd have a chance v Bournemouth to go into the 5th.

As he said he sleeps very well at night. If your striker had done it you'd be cheering mate. Yes he shouldn't have done it but he's not the first and won't be the last, people overreact because of who it is.

Surely the blame lies with the inept officials. Same as when Thierry Henry's handball "robbed" Republic of Ireland of a World Cup place, it was the referee who missed it, or didn't deem it handball, so its his fault, not the player.
Shame though, at 1-0 there's every chance of getting level, 2-0 and the cup tie is pretty much over.

Anyway, whatever. We were never going to beat liverpool. After putting them under the cosh for the first fifteen minutes of the second half though that was sickening.
Edit - get in!!! Game on...

Couple of United fans I follow on twitter saying they don't think the hand ball was deliberate and that John Champion should be ashamed of his reaction.
Been a much better second half from Mansfield, haven't seen Joe Allen since the 35 minute.

If Luis Suarez was in my team I'd sack him immediately, that was disgraceful, Mansfield show a huge touch of class by leaving 96 seats empty with the names of each victim on them, Suarez representing Liverpool football club repays them by blatantly cheating.
How long can Liverpool go on defending this obnoxious individual? He ought to be ashamed of himself but as we have all seen over and over again, he feels no shame in cheating.

Oh absolutely, no doubt Suarez has great ability but to put aside the reputation of the club which has won 18 league titles for one shameless individual is is also disgraceful, did Kenny put his hands up about his handling of it too?

Exactly! Look at that David Lopez yesterday in the Brighton game. Disgraceful, went down did about 10 rolls, looks up to see the ref and then does another one. I'd be ashamed if I was him

I think, and the Mansfield manager seems to agree, that Carragher's handball was worse at the other end. I'm not sure how intentional it was, but he definitely stopped what could have been a goal with his hand and Mansfield should have had a penalty.
All in all, Liverpool can't really hold their heads up high, after looking untouchable if a little wasteful in the first half, Mansfield bested them in the second half and that frankly is a bit embarrassing for a Premier League side.

Right. I've calmed down a bit now.
First of all, congratulations Liverpool, best of luck for the rest of the competition.
Now, Suarez. Hampo, you said people over-react because of who he is. Why is that? Not because of his face. Not because of his name. Not because of his nationality. People are judged on their actions. His invite reaction. As far as little Mansfield are concerned though, he'll probably never darken our doorstep again. So after today he can do what he wants for me.
Unfortunately though, that goal decided the game.
I'm not too fussed though to be fair. We (were) never expected to win, have made a tidy wedge from the day and also given a great account of ourselves.
I'd rather feel proud of our display than ill feeling toward Suarez.
You Stags.

It's not Suarez's first handball when there's a goal involved and it won't be his last I guess. As much as I dislike him, most likely all players would have done that. Yes it is cheating (and therefore any other player who did it would also be branded a cheat) but at the end of the day, it's the win that matters.

What is your team btw?
And no you wouldn't. You would basically sack every player as there is so much circumstances of "cheating".
It's a part of the game and has been for many years. Winning is winning and being a nice guy doesn't get you anywhere, especially if you live in the real world.

This is just a rumour that I have heard so don't shoot me down but is it true that Liverpool fans were singing to the Mansfield fans "your fan support is Sh1t"
As i said it is just a rumour but if true then it is truely classless from them especially since mansfield left 96 empty seats as a tribute for Liverpool.
If it is false then I apologize to Liverpool fans but won't make a judgement until someone can confirm. Does anyone know if this is true or just a sick rumour?

They named 96 seats with the victims Name, which was a nice touch yes.
But they have a 10,000 capacity stadium which they are limited to 7574. so they didn't actually leave seats free, they were free anyway.
I am 100% confident of they could fill the sits they wouldn't have thought twice about leaving seats free for anyone.
For anyone to think that chant is sick or offensive is ridiculous, it is a pretty common chant and one of the least offensive that would have taken place in this match let alone around the country.

Well I definitely heard the chant "your support is f**king s**t" from the Liverpool fans. Classless. Good luck to a real football club on Sunday.
I watched the game and didn't hear the chant, however when you watch the game on the TV or listen to it on the radio can you be 100% sure it was Liverpool fans?
Every club has its morons, United fans have sung songs about Hillsborough for years and Liverpool fans likewise about Munich, doesn't that make United fans as classless as Liverpool fans?

If we (Oldham) play like we did 2nd half against Forest at BP 'Ice Station Zebra' then Liverpool may well be in for a shock!

I didn't say it was offensive, I said it was classless which it is.
It's not even classless, it is typical football banter, Every clubs fans sing about the opposition fans, be it how noisy they are, how many of them they are, or jibes about where they come from.
Liverpool fans continually get abused for for being Dole scrounging criminals, in today's economy I would say that was more classless than saying someone's support is s***.
