Heino Cup Pool 5, Round 3: Scarlets vs Exeter Chiefs
First topic message reminder :
Neither side with a win in the competition so far, so realistically out of contention, but plenty of pride to play for.
Can I ask one of the Scarlets fans to post a preview from their side?
From a Chiefs perspective, Exe go into this match on the back of a nice winning run in all competitions, with the youngsters setting the standard in the LV= Cup and the 'A' league, and the first team following in their wake in the league. Only Kai Horstmann, Dave Ewers, Will Chudley and James Phillips remain on the long-term injured list, with the likes of Ben White and Craig Mitchell getting close to full fitness after their injuries, and the return of the international players like TJ, Gonzo Camacho, Sireli Naqelevuki, etc. sure to bolster Rob Baxter's options. In terms of form, Exe haven't been playing quite at their peak recently, but are still managing to eke out the wins, which is a good marker for any side with pretensions to be one of the best in Europe at some point in the future. All-in-all, the Chiefs will travel to Parc Y Scarlets in decent fettle and good spirits

Didn't all the training help with those things then?

Training help with form, the coaches gameplan and having a good motivator?
Umm not really, not sure how it's supposed to help with those? It can help form a little, but you really need to play yourself back into form. Not sure how training together is going to get Howley to change his gameplan, or make Howley a good motivator.
Strange...

Perhaps it's the excess of training which is demotivating them, with knock on effects in terms of execution of gameplan and loss of form?

But then that can hardly be used an excuse for the Scarlets - maybe you should tell Fiji and Tonga that they should train less as squads before playing the top teams in the world...
And you seem to suggest you believe the Wales gameplan is fine, it's the execution that's poor, is that what you believe?

Tonga beat Scotland.
Has the gameplan changed since the World Cup? I don't think so. We had a Grand Slam in the meantime.

I notice you still haven't answered my questions...
I'd say the gameplan has changed in a few cruicial areas - we don't keep hold of the ball as much as during the GS, we kick it down to their 22 far more and We employ less runners in the backs (not that we did that much during the GS, but we always had a few runners).

What are you a teacher or what? Is that why youre obsessed with training?

Sorry I thought we were having a discussion about the importance of training (you say negible) I say it can have a significant effect on performance, though it is by no means the most important factor.
I asked you a few questions on why teams/players seem to find training important and why it appears to affect performance and you ignored them. I asked them to continue the debate and to see how your opinion compares to the opinions of the club/international teams and coaches ect.
That's hardly teacherish
