Gatland's successor. Empty Gatland's successor.

So as we've all seen since he took leave for the Lions, Gatland's absence is one Wales cannot cope with.
However, inevitably he will move on, and as I'm sure we can all agree, Howley just isn't up to the job. But who would you choose to take the reigns?
For me it'd have to be Lyn Jones, which as a LW fan hurts due to the great work he's doing in London, but at the same time he's by far the best man for the job.

I'd say it's a too early to say for sure, a lot can change in 3 years. Perhaps not too early for someone else to be brought in as a trial. Perhaps ask Jones if he'd be available for the Wales tour in the summer.

I think Lyn is good, but he's no Dean Richards or Connor O'Shea. He had a spell with the Ospreys, there were plenty of possitives there as he built two good teams. But there also negatives. He couldn't take the team very far, he and Ospreys alike would too often look clueless. He settles for mediocrity which is his ultimate downfall.

I guess there will be a few Welsh names thrown into the hat. As has been mentioned Lyn Jones is one and Howley as the sorcerers apprentice will be applying. Dai Young could come good a Wasps. Nigel Davies is building a good reputation as an attacking coach. Kingsley Jones wants the job and has made no secret of it.

If it is to be a welsh coaching team then, Lyn as Head coach with Nigel Davies backs and Young forwards would be a dream ticket.

How abou a swap for Howley, I have said before I would even help chip in with the air-fare to get Howley up there.

I have always said I would love to see Kingsley Jones involved and that's not changed, whilst Lyn Jones is a great call he strikes me as someone who doesn't fit the WRU bill.

I haven't been very impressed with Kingsley Jones as a head coach. Maybe as a number 2 but not the headman

I'd look overseas again at someone like vern cotter, ian foster, wayne smith etc....and possibly bring in Nigel Davies as assistant coach.

We have to go for a southern hemisphere coach or we'll plummet out of the IRB top 10.

Not Scott Johnson tough, obviously. A real coach.

Joe schmidt would have to be the favourite. He is also out of contract with Leinster at the end of the season.
