FOTY 2012
I can't do the polls on here 'cos i'm special but here is a few which make the shortlist:
Rios vs Alvarado
Maidana vs Karass
Berto vs Guerrero
Pac vs Marquez 4
Ortiz vs Lopez
Salido vs Lopez 2
My vote goes for Rios Vs Alvarado - pretty much non-stop brain cell destroying action!
Rios is fast becoming my favorite fighter to watch.
KO of the year is a foregone conclusion!

Matthysse is always good value. I heard that fight was good but haven't seen it

Matthysse - Olsegun was pretty good but not competetive enough in my view. Manny/Marquez was the fight of the year for me.

Re: FOTY 2012
I think it will end up going to the obvious one, Manny v Marquez 4.
None of the above really stick out for me. Not been a good year for great fights really.

Unoriginal, I know, but I'd probably plump for Marquez-Pacquiao IV. Next up would be Rios-Alvarado, with Salido-Lopez II taking the bronze medal (round nine in that one arguably being Round of the Year).

Re: FOTY 2012
When I was watching Salido v Lopez II, I knew that Siri had to KO Lopez for the win, not matter how conveincing he looked. The fact he was down on two of the three cards at the time of the stoppage says it all. It went near enough the same as the first fight.

Re: FOTY 2012
Beltran Jr vs Martinez was a cracker and deserves 3rd imo because Lopez-Salido was pretty one sided whereas in that fight it was back and forth

Re: FOTY 2012
Not sure I'd describe Salido-Lopez II as one sided, but there's no doubt that Salido was ahead by maybe two points at the time of the stoppage on any reasonable card. As Soldier has alluded to, a couple of the official cards of the appointed judges were truly shocking.

Re: FOTY 2012
If you combine the level of fighters, history behind the fight, action and the ending Manny/JMM 4 wins hands down.
However just on the fight itself and the action I'd go with Rios/Alvarado.
Personally I think this year has been very good for fights, in fact every year delivers. People say boxing is declining (i have in the past) but there are always good high level scraps each year.
