TACTICS
General
- We want to make sure that we play rugby in the opposition half and force handling errors, where we can attack the scrum. Use the physicality of our pack to our advantage, keeping the ball tight in the middle section of the pitch to retain possession and build a platform to attack from. In our third clear to touch and challenge for the ball at lineout.
- With slow ball, look to mix up first receiver between Steyn and Hook and then look for back row runners on inside shoulder
- Steyn to ensure we play sensible rugby in the right areas, kicking long for touch in our 22, using the up and under in the centre of the pitch and delicate grubbers in behind centres to chase and force kickable penalties.
- Steyn leads the rush defence, with SOB flying up to cramp 10 for time and space and ensuring he takes the ball deep behind the gainline and starving their outside backs of ball. Classens sweeps up behind for counter attacks
- Big impact bench, with the likes of Tolofua, Catt, Fearns, Caldwell providing ball carrying options up front. Biggs, Daly and Fearns will wreak havoc in the last 20 minutes, as the space opens up. Real advantage over the opposition in terms of bench options
Forwards
* Two world class and very, young and fit scrummaging props picked, who should dominate at the scrum and force penalties. Mears back in the side for his solidity in the lineout
* In Louw, we have a world class in form flanker to compete at the breakdown. He looks to stay on his feet and slow opposition ball, stealing the turnovers
* Louw and SOB released to play as out and out flankers, linking play. Kalamafoni provides the physicality off the back of the scrum in defence and attack
* We only look to commit 1 or 2 players to the ruck if there is little chance of stealing. Prefering to protect fringes and smash big inside runners, looking to isolate them
* At the lineout, Muller will lead the calls as in real life and look to pressurise opposition hooker and compete at every throw.
* Use ball carriers of Healy, Attwood, O'Brien, Kalamafoni to make hard yards up the pitch and draw defenders into the ruck area, looking to create space around the fringes for Laulala to exploit
Backs
* Eastmond given free rein in attack, looking to come into the line either side of Laulala. Laulala to look for the half gap with power and offload (only if on), with Bowe and Dagg on their shoulder to make the break
* Hook to take the ball flat on the gainline, drawing defenders and buying time and space for Steyn. Steyn often used as dummy runner to keep it unpredictable
* Use the inside pass with forward runners of SOB, Attwood, Fearns to keep the inside shoulder honest and force the 10 to make tackles.
* Get Laulala on the ball early on and encourage a very pacy back three to run off his shoulder. Only offload if it is on, otherwise, crash it up and use SOB and Healy to clear out and Fearns to secure.

Tactics:
Weather looks to be wet so whilst we will play ball in the backs when appropriate, the aim today is to play rugby based on hard work carrying in the tight, the set piece and most importantly the breakdown. We will approach the breakdown with the back row as a unit- McCaw fetching, Vunipola clearing out and Brown alternating between the two. The rest of the pack (especially Ryan and Kepu) will chip in and it will be a real team effort, but only look to turnover vulnerable ball- otherwise use the numbers to set the defence better. I want to spin only quick ball, slow ball will be kept tight in pods of 3 and mauls, utilising the carrying ability of Botha, Brown, McCaw, the Vunipolas and Brits. We'll also have Brits and Billy V running at Hook off Hodgson's inside shoulder to make his game hell. He will be brutally targeted throughout the match. Parra to decide when to grind, kick or spin, and together with Hodgson to make sure we play all the rugby in Bath's 22. When we do spin, I want Hodgson flat, Conrad running his support lines off Allen who will run straight and Goode ready to join as another 1/2nd receiver and change the direction of play. Turnover ball will be kept alive and used quickly and without mercy.
Defence- McCaw to be in Hook's face when we have momentum and helping Charlie if not. Brown to harry Classens. Otherwise, blitz led by Smith with carefully ruck-fringe guarding.
Back 3 can kick or run with ball, but if Dagg isn't in position go for the kicks- let's not force it too much. Lots of height on these kicks and I want the likes of McCaw and the pack really chasing these to force mistakes.
Keep it simple in the backs, with basic switches and big runners from the pack occasionally coming onto the inside pop, or ready to hit the ruck if it doesn't happen. Keeping it tight off the rucks doesn't mean artificially slowing it down- if the ruck side defence is on the back foot, keep picking and driving until the back line is forced to react then spin it
Play to our strong set piece- kick for the corners if it's on and take points as we back our kickers to score. Our scrum should win parity and if it's going forward, use back row set moves and get Billy running at tier blindside winger- both are questionable front on tacklers
Use our bench cleverly- we can change the style at 10 with Parra or Goode, put on a fresh pack and can alter the balance of the backrow to suit the game- if we need lineout options, Kruis can play 6, if we need breakdown work, McCaw to 8 and Fraser on.

Tactics:
Our forwards will look to dominate the set piece and cause havoc at the breakdown. Our backs will be given quick ball to look to run through and round their opposite numbers. Yachvilli, Tindall and JSD will use their experience to create the space for the youngsters. Back row will look to be all over the park and our front row have the ability and experience to ruffle a few feathers. Forwards rugby for first 20 mins to suck in and tire the defence before the backs take the overlap's created. A good impact bench with experience and youth.
Forwards
*Experienced front row who will look to dominate the set piece and Jones will be the anchor, we will go up on Jones' side and won't go backwards....we go up, forward and down but not backwards.
*2nd rows are two strong players who will look to control the lineout and to put pressure on their back 5 in the scrum with confrontational play.
*Backrow are heavy hitters Qera both terrorising here and JVN providing brute strength off the back of the scrum and off the backs, again the bench provides more experience with Narraway. Cane will look to disrupt ball and carry a lot.
Backs
* Yachvilli to snipe when space but to release Burns when possible, he will go for goal when in range, Burns is in great form and will look to make his unpredictability show, Lambie can fill in too,
* Roberts and Trinder to hit hard and will have a winger on his shoulder at all times and also look for JVN to break through the defence,
* Exciting backs here who will link well and look to constantly run at and through the Chiefs defence,
* A fast back 3 here who will always look for work and are strong in defence and under the high ball.
Defence
*Trinder to lead this,
*Cane/Qera to be on 10’s shoulder looking to wrap the ball up,
*Contest at the breakdown and all set piece.

Tactics
- Play in their half all day - there are few sides that can score against us from 60+ metres so it limits their threat straight away.
- Set a decent platform to attack from and gain some confidence. Quick ball to Brock if we're stable, Harinordoquy to pick and go if it's messy.
- In the lineout, we have plenty of options. Opt for full lineouts mostly in their half to tie in their pack, leaving more space out wide. Compete for their ball.
- Target the breakdown for possible turnovers, with Pocock staying strong on his feet. When they arise, lets use them to our advantage. If the back three are sparse, look to kick for territory. If there are mis-matches, lets have a go.
- Be disciplined at the breakdown, with a guard and bodyguard at every breakdown to stop those easy yards around the fringes. No excuses here.
- Simpson to keep the tempo high, getting the ball quickly away from the breakdown and releasing the backs. The back three to be hungry and look to get involved.
- Big efforts in defence, particularly from Bowden and Rougerie. Pocock to work his socks off getting across and chopping them down before they get momentum.
- For slow ball, look to get outside their guards and bodyguards to suck in more and more forwards at each breakdown. This will give more time to the backs.
- Homer to go for points at every opportunity. We can have a pop from anywhere in their half. Make them scared to give away penalties in their half, thus giving us more time at the breakdown.
- Bench is full of impact players to keep the intensity high and have a run at the Tiger's tired legs.

Tactics:
In the damp conditions we’ll be looking to play a high tempo game and limit the offloading with the greasy ball. We’ll be looking for big carries from our pack to free up space around the fringes for out talented backline to work in. Flood/Barnes will look to dictate play in our half and pin Irish back with directed kicking.
We will look to set a tone in the set piece with our big scrummaging front 5 and will look for the squeeze from the off. Parling will lead the line and we will look to target the opposition's throw with Launchbury/Parling marshalling the front/middle of the line. We'll use big carries from our pack to draw in the opposition defence with Youngs marshalling and looking for gaps to exploit around the fringes.
Warburton/Cole will target the breakdown with Youngs sniping around and playing flat to the line to allow Barnes & Manu space to run into. Ioane will come looking for the ball in midfield and link up with Manu causing problems in the opposition midfield. We'll look to refresh pack around 60mins + and keep up the intensity.
- Look to get Man onto the ball as much as possible
- Barnes to kick whats on offer and keep the board ticking over
- Barnes/Flood to alternate and dictate play
- Look to kick to corners with flat kicks and use greasy surface, then target opp throw
- Look to use scrum whenever possible and target the Irish front row all game with impact bench

Tactics
We will look to play a fast paced attacking game using big carriers running of the 9/10/12 axis to get us over the gain line and generate quick ball. Keeping the ball alive is crucial so our carriers will be looking for support runners to hit on the offload and get us further over the gain line. Our back three will look to get involved as much as possible running support lines of the halfbacks and midfield looking for the inside ball or offload. If for whatever reason we aren’t getting quick ball, we will look to take control of territory with the boot of Sexton and force Quins to come at us from deep.

Big pack to get ontop the Saints front 5 and put them under the cosh at the Scrum and rucks with plenty of impact from the bench.
Scrummage for 80 minutes with strong scrummagers on the bench to come on if need
Steyn to test Saints backs 3s position game with Kicks in behind with North and Short chasing with neither being on the small side.
Fofana/AAC to take the ball to the gain line and ask questions of the Saints back line.
Croft to run our lineout whilst Denton and Robshaw will look to smash rucks to slow down and Saints ball.
Jumpers from 4-8 in our pack giving Joe Grey plenty of targets with Etzebeth and Corft targeting the Saints Lineout.
Wrigglesworth to control the tempo , feeding Morne Steyn the ball at the right times and using his own vision to snipe and put the ball in behind Saints.
Blitz Defence to stop Saints backs playing with Wrigglesworth sweeping behind
Impact from the bench will see this game through Smit will keep things calm up front , Coatzee will come on and smash everything in front of him. . Burguss and Robinson are a exciting half back pair and will put plenty of pace onto the game.

We will look to work through our forwards with ball in hand....forwards will do early carrying of the ball, whilst the backs wait patiently for the ball. Look to stay strong and tight at the set piece, Swarzeski will need to be very accurate at the line out. Care will look to get quick ball to the forwards however at times will delibeately slow the ball..Farrell will go for drop goals on regualr occasions, and also maybe kick the ball over the top for wingers to run onto. Quick wings can run the ball, and the obvious class at 12 and 13 can split any defence..

Overall: Look to exert real dominance in the set piece and use this as a platform to really attack Welsh with some strong running
In these conditions we expect lots of scrums so we will look to be dominant at scrumtime. We feel we have a big advantage here with three internationals. We feel we can have a big impact here with two quality international props. Apply pressure and look to get the nudge on throughout. If we are getting an advantage from the scrum we will look to call for it as much as possible and really look to hammer home our advantage looking for penalties
We also feel we have an advantage at lineout with both Kitchener, Haskell and Robson capable of winning the ball. If we sense an advantage we will look for corners with the boot.
As well as performing in the set piece we will be looking to get our forwards making some big carries in open play. We will be looking to get Marler/Robson/Haskell/Morgan on the ball and making gains
Look to attack the breakdown hard and fast with lots of bodies looking to slow down or turn over Welsh ball. Hooper is absolutely brilliant at getting over the ball and he will be backed up by Haskell and Morgan looking to nuisance of themselves.
Strong half back combination will be looking to control the tempo of our game. Will Genia will play his natural game mixing it up with his passing and his sniping runs. Dan Carter is our main playmaker and will look to use his vast array of talents to adapt to the game. He will look to get his running and passing game involved while his kicking offers another option.
The back five will be looking to make inroads with their attacking running. Nonu will be look to make strong runs, crashing through defences. He will look to draw in defences to offer more space for our other runners. Hopper, Strettle and Garvey will be looking to make space outside Nonu and will use their pace to scare defences. Beale will look to join the attack late from deep and take on defenders.
Use a blitz defence with huge intensity to put pressure on Welsh decision makers. Kurtley Beale will sweep in behind for any grubbers which we will either counter generously or have a run at the defence.
Medard is a bit flaky and we will look to see if we can get any kind of advantage from him early, testing his defence under the high ball and with runners. If we sense an advantage, we will look to target him. Also we will look to get some big hits in on Nick Evans. We feel we can bang him up and he will have to come off leaving either Henson or Barritt at FH which will be a much easier game.
We also feel we have a huge advantage coming from the bench. We have strong row replacements who can build on the platform our starters left. Mostert will come on to add grit on late on. Kvesic will also come on and look to get involved all over the park. George Ford and Jordan Turner Hall will offer varied attack against tired legs.

We look to impose ourselves from the off and let the opposition know how we are going to play the game and how we want to dictate the pace of the game. Our brand of rugby is physical and fast, however we won't just run the ball at every opportunity. We will only play in the right areas of the paddock, and Evans knows when to attack and when we need to clear the lines. We will look to go through simple phases to reproduce quick ball to cut the defence open. We have brilliant leaders all other the pitch in POC, Pienaar, Easter and Evans, and they know what will be required to get we want from the game - a win. With the terrible conditions, they also know how we will want to play our game. We will look to force Warriors to play from in their 22 and use our strong lineout and kicking game to pressure them. After good form in Europe, we will continue to build on our great position in the league.

Key Points
- With a powerful front 5 on show we will look to keep the scrum up and use it as a weapon. On our own feed we will look to get the wheel on and give our 8-9-10 axis as much room as possible to attack from.
- In Wasps territory, with 5 jumping options to use, we will look to play off the top and move the ball out to Sexton and the backs. In our own territory, we will look to take the ball down into the maul and drive ourselves into the right areas.
- We will play an aggressive blitz on defence, playing on the edge of the offside line and coming up at pace, looking to isolate the ball carrier and stop any opposition momentum before it
can get going.
- Smith will act as a sweeper and cover any chips or grubbers behind the defensive line.
- We will leave two players sitting deep to cover any kicks and they will look to counter attack of any loose ball.
- With the blitz in operation, we will look to be at the breakdown first hitting it hard and fast. If the ball looks available we will flood the breakdown with Wood looking to get his hands on the ball.
- If the ball is not immediately available we will only commit 1 or 2 players to legally slow the ball down and instead look to strengthen the defensive line.

Tactics
Tactics
- Piennar and Wilson are solid technicians and will secure our own feed, to provide first phase possession for our backs. We have strong props on the bench as well, so we should not be outclassed throughout the game
- With a strong lineout, O'Connell will lead the lineout and use himself as banker ball at the front of the line with Mumm jumping in the middle. If winning own ball POC will look to call full number lineouts to tie in the Wuss fowards.
- Our whole pack is mobile and capable of snaffling ball at the breakdown. Collectively we will look to (legally!) slow down Warriors' ball as much possible, only committing men to rucks if the turnover is on, to prevent them any front foot ball for their big carriers.
- The backrow will target the halfbacks, allowing them no time on the ball, which will lead to them rushing and making handling errors and mistakes.
- We will look to keep the ball alive, preventing them from setting any defensive lines and moving the point of attack. Evans will direct traffic with the use of quick pods systems outside the guards of the rucks.
- Off any first phase possession, the blindside winger will come in to create options off Evans so that it can keep the defence guessing to whether we will go wide, or cut against the grain.
- We will look to test the Warriors back three with Pienaar's clever box kicking and Evans throwing the odd bomb in. Their back three can be got at here as they won't be the best defensively, and their urge to attack will find them short in most cases. All kicks will be chased.
- Look to use our strong bench for impact later in the game. To get an advantage in the scrum, and collisions with big impact players.
- Pienaar will kick all points, he can kick from within our ten, so this indicates that Warriors should be wary of giving away penalties.
- We are in a good form and this will allow the whole team to act with confidence in everything they do. The Red steam roller won't.

TACTICS

TACTICS

Look to target there scrum where we beleive we'll be able to get an advanatge especially with there loosehead and hooker.
Use our many carriers to get over the gain line. However we will look to use our carriers. We will look to use them two or 3 channels away from the breakdown to get away from Wasps backrow.
JJ will look to use his pace to get an advantage over 36, who we feel can be targeted on the outside as 13 is an alien position to him and means there defence can be targeted.
Cruden to play flat and look to get our carriers over the gain line.
Shephard and Brady to come in and look for work.
If lineout nor working Gaskell will be brought on, but we beleive Garvey, Maestri and JMF will be able to secure our ball.

16. Korree Britton 17. Nick Wood 18. Rupert Harden 19. Tom Savage 20. Luke Narraway 21. Dan Robson 22. Mike Tindall 23. Shane Monahan

Re: Aviva Premiership Round Eleven
Info will follow
Gloucester 20 - Exeter 18
Front row and scrum jut go to Exeter, better all around unit. Edge with a bit more star quality in second row to Gloucester. Lineout pretty equal, breakdown probably just to Gloucester but both backrows good in different ways. Gloucester more balanced but big carrying from Exeter. Prefer Yachvili in this weather and I reckon Burns can match Johnny in a tight game too. Gloucester centres more dry weather suited compared to the bosh of Exeter's. Back 3s very close. Home advantage sees Gloucester win a match that could go either way.
Northampton 22 - Quins 22
Lineout just to Quins, scrum to Quins. breakdown even, but in a wet game Saints pack better at tight carrying. Prefer Saints 9/10 but in this game, Morne will be effective if he kicks well and Smith could struggle in this weather with Quins backrow in his face. 2 very good sets of backs - Saints would win battle if SBW were still playing Union properly, as it is Fofana is close to him and on form too. Payne form better than Foden's but otherwise close here. Quins, on review, just steal a draw with the set piece so important in this weather.
Irish 16 - Tigers 20
Front row to Tigers and Scrum a real weapon for them in the rain. Irish very good in lineout but so are Tigers- This key area just goes to Irish with Hari at the back, but the breakdown is an even scrap, maybe Tigers get this on tactics. 9 to Tigers (though wet weather not Youngs' game) and 10 to Irish. Irish edge kicking game in backs crucially but Tigers offer more ball in hand and carrying with the pack (just) and Kearney is as good as anyone fielding the kicks. Leicester better bench and in a match where both sides are carrying in the tight, kicking and using the set piece, the Leicester scrum nicks this one.
Wasps 26 - Sale 24
Sale get ahead in the scrum, mostly as Sheri will enjoy hitting Payne here. Both Lineouts full of options but lacking a true specialist/banker. Similar back rows IMO (class allrounder/defender at 6, understated but effective fetcher 7s and workman like traditional 8s) but I think Wasps take this area and the breakdown too. More work in the tight too. 9 and 10 to Wasps and Sale respectively. Sale centres will test Wasps as pointe out in tactics but think this will be a forwards/kicking battle really, and Farrell becomes useful rather than a burden here and both 10s aided by kicking FBs. Having now read Sale tactics (sorry missed them at first), score is tighter than I thought but Wasps can win at home here.
Worcester 18 - Welsh 18
Young front rows, hard to call the scrum. Worcester SRs win lineout but Welsh's offer more everywhere else. 6 evens, 7 easily to Wuss and 8 in this weather to Easter whose form is excellent. Think both HBs are class but Pienarr probably gives Welsh an edge here. Barritt can hold Nonu and Lowe will have advantage over Hopper in the rain, back 3s less important today but Wuss just take it as Beale has a better boot. Welsh maybe edge starting 15s but Wuss bench. Good detailed tactics either side but I see a draw today

Re: Aviva Premiership Round Eleven
Bath 17-21 Saracens
See a few scrums in this one with Bath having a little edge in the front 3. Big step up in the Sarries engine room with both locks superior, great wet weather pairing for CJ. Fantastic flank combo's with Sarries just having a bit more and similar at 8.
Bit more again for Sarries in the half backs and some great form. Centre combo shading to Sarries too, not sure about Daly at this level. Dagg/Bowe class acts for Bathite and they'll give them a real attacking outlet although Halfpenny different planet to Eastmond who's poor.
Good game, Sarries set a real tone in the pack and halfbacks and come away with a good win.

Gloucester 22-20 Exeter
Bit of an edge up front for Gloucester with Exeter just lacking a bit of form at 1 & 2. Two dogged engine rooms and classy back rows with just a little more for the home team.
Good backlines on show but again just a little more form for the home team which sees them through in this one.

Northampton 20-19 Harlequins
Great match ups here! Front row unit just to Quins and Etzebeth/Bekker the standouts in the engine room. Both 6's lacking a bit of form and Robshaw/Read shading the individual battles, 2 cracking units though.
Step up at halfback for Saints with a tasty combo, but Quins have the edge in the centres although SBW gives Saints some real go forward. Cracking back 3's with Short a good player but just not quite at this level.
Great game which Quins would win at home and probably win here with a better 10. Just enough for Saints.

Re: Aviva Premiership Round Eleven
Bath 20-16 Sarries
Decent lineout battle but Bath will win the scrum battle. Good even backrow battle. Nothing between the 8s on current form. Sob and McCaw winning their personal battles. Halfbacks one a piece. Both combos are well suited to each other and well settled in the game. As a combo little more for Sarries in midfield but more threat from the Bath back three. Two good game plans but Bath at home have a strong weapon in the scrum and get the win.
Gloucester 25-19 Exeter Chiefs
Another decent set piece battle in this one. Chiefs get a little bit more out of the scrum but it isn’t a big gain. Cracking backrow battle with good from for both sides. Neither side will really get on top anywhere in the forwards battle. Little more creativity from the Glaws halfbacks but Chiefs strong for the conditions. Decent midfield battle but Chiefs with more in the back three. Decent benches for both. On the lineups Chiefs deserving of a draw but no tactics is a killer and Glaws take a good win.
London Irish 15-20 Leicester Tigers
Tigers shading the scrum battle but nothing between the sides at the lineout. Great back row battle. Form issues over Warbs & Harri but overall the two combos are very even. Nothing between the halfbacks on current form but outside that Tigers are stronger. More impact off the bench for Tigers particularly in the front 5. Tigers backs have a few tries in them and the bench will seal the win.
London Wasps 12-22 Sale Sharks
Sale can get at Payne come scrum time in this one while both sides should hold their own lineout. Sales front 5 offer a lot more around the park. In the backrow contrasting battle at BS but Wasps stronger as a combination. Halfbacks to Sale. Not sure Farrell/Care would work in real life. Midfield battle edges to Sale but much more dangerous back three for Wasps. Lack of someone to hit it up in the backs for Wasps. Bit more of the bench for Sale. Sale have tactics in their team sheet column so no mark down there. Good away win for Sale
Worcester Warriors 25-22 London Welsh
Cracking front 5 battle but more form for Worcester sees them edge it. In the back row good battle between the 8s on current form but bit more quality to the Worcester flanks. Great halfback battle. Possibly the two best combos in the league. Nothing between the back threes but Worcester edge the midfield. Beale left with a lot of ground to cover in behind the blitz for Worcester. Worcesters pack sets the tone for this game and gives Carter the ball he needs.
