Jordi Alba embarrassed himself with some of his dives and exaggerated falls. How that lot raised an Armada is beyond me.

Let me get this straight...
A player comes on and does the square route of Frak all and he is the reason the game changed?
Any player that comes in and plays badly can claim they influenced the game if the score/equalise etc...
Madness

Anybody know what Valdes was doing for the PSG goal?
Just randomly dived out of the way of the bobbling ball. God knows what he was diving for

He clearly had an impact on Barca when he came on, and pushed PSG back psychologically.

Whats the deal with the Bayern coach? Did he choose to leave early in the season? Releasing a succesful coach just to bag a big name is distinctly un-German.

Soooo unlucky PSG, the pub went mental when they scored and it was brought to silence when Pedro scored.
Full credit to PSG though fantastic side.

Bayern impressive tonight. psg were superb until messi came on. just shows you what a special player he is, fantastic finish by villa let's not overlook that.
Personally like to see a team from each country in the final so for me, a dortmund/real final, simply because i love the players dortmund have and their fans at wembley would be insane. i aslo believe real are the best team in europe with this current squad and i'd love to see ronaldo back at wembley.

Re: Champions League Draw for Last 16
PSG were actually fantastic until they scored. I'm not sure it was Messi coming on that turned things around, more that Paris sat back way too much when they went ahead and stopped dictating play the way they were before (did Barca create a serious chance prior to the PSG goal? can't think of any...). Tactical error against such quality players, and it was a fantastic goal by Barca to equalise it must be said.
Messi? I don't think he played that well, he played his part in the goal (though Villa's part was every bit as crucial) and fluffed a control after Iniesta's shot was parried where he probably should have scored. I didn't think he was gash, but he's certainly played better, and the headlines all about him aren't really justified this time IMO.
While LJ pushes it to extremes (watched some of the World Club Cup the last couple of years and some of the antics by Corinthians in particular were far worse than anything you'll ever - hopefully - see in Europe), I did dislike the way Barca immediately switched to time-saving mode when they went back ahead in the tie: a lot of theatrical falls and rolling on the floor, taking 30 secs over each goal-kick/freekick/throw-in, one minute over subs as the player taken off goes to high five a few other players on the pitch before coming off.
Thing is though, every team does it to some extent, and no one complains when their own team does it. Still doesn't look good, but until there's a genuine campaign against that sort of antics (systematic booking for time-wasting even if it results in a red card for instance) teams will continue to do it and get away with it.
It's become rather fashionable to dislike Barca hasn't it? Does that make me a hipster? I've disliked them since they first clashed with Chelsea in the Abramovich era all those years ago (JT with the winner, happy days )

When you're going through in the tie with 5 minutes left you're not gonna rush to take a throw in, goal kick etc etc.
It's common sense. Every team does it, heck when I play football as a GK I do it myself.
The rolling on the floor/theatrical falls are annoying, but its just the way it is

5 minutes, yes, but do you need to do it for the last 20 (25 with stoppage time?) It's one of my real pet hates in football, wish they'd cut down on it. "it's just the way it is" doesn't cut it with me, just because it is like that doesn't mean you shouldn't aspire to better. Easy enough to fix too...

From the Dortmund-Real games in the group, Dortmund would have won 4-3 on aggregate.
Also would say Weidenfeller completely screwed up for 2 of those Real goals

Re: Champions League Draw for Last 16
Booo! I wanted no chance of an all Spanish or all German final.
I think it'll be Madrid vs. Munich still.
I think the knock out stages are a whole different game to the group stages. Dortmund scraped through against a Malaga side that isn't even close to how good Madrid are.

groups are groups. they mean nothing. If england was as good as there qualifying or no loss record they would have won the WC 3 times.

Dortmund were lucky to scrape past Malaga. I like them a lot as a team though. I don't think they will win it all, they are probably the 4th favourite to do it.
The big thing here is that both the Spanish and German leagues are effectively over (actually over, in Germany's case) and so this will be the focus for the rest of the year for all the clubs. Makes it all very interesting.

Re: Champions League Draw for Last 16
offcourse they matter.
but comparing dortmund to madrid only on the games in the groups is a bit shortsighted olley.
We all know that its not about winning individual games- its about qualifying for the next stage. As i said its about getting out of them

I was really hoping for a Clasico semi. Real have shown we know how to take care of business there. Dortmund have been a tad, iffy, but I'm not overly confident Madrid can beat them.

Barcas defense has been awful for the entire season, but Ive been saying that and they keep managing to scrape through. ThusI wont be suprised if they somehow beat Bayern
