Connacht v Munster
Anyone watching this? Munster just after getting a penalty try, with Archer at 3, after Harris Wright was sin binned, and the lead 6-10.
The Tod bursting through tackles again, tonight. It would honestly not surprise me if I was told he spent his summer doing drugs.

Parks kicks dead, Munster win a penalty from the scrum on half way and Keatley kicks to make it 6-13.

Coughlan drops the restart but time is up so we just go to half time.

Yeah I'm watching, horrible night for rugby if Munster get the next score I can't see Connacht coming back cos this isn't a night where you're gonna rack up the tries.
Keatley made one hell of a tackle on Vanikola (spelling?) earlier, serious gas to catch him after the intercept.

Only just up so didn't see the tackle, but he's done that a few times this season. I really can't think of any rugby reasons for ROG starting ahead of him, I can see the political reasons for Penney choosing him. Hopefully JJ gets some time if Munster are a few scores up in the second half.
It is unfortunate for Connacht that they still have to play in Galway on these horrible nights when they now have a set of backs who would prefer drier weather.

Re: Connacht v Munster
You think its an IRFU call or is Penney picking him for his experience?
I think he would be gone except Keatley didn't grasp his chance in Paris.

It was an intercept pass from O'Dea I think on halway and Keatley tracked him down and caught him about 10 metres short of the line, the wet ground meant they slid into touch about 5 metres out.Game changer of a tackle.
Refs are awarding handy penalty tries the last few weeks, can't say I hate it but I really wish they'd let the fans know when these new directives come in as it's incredibly frustrating when the rules of the game seem to change without any warning.

The rule hasn't changed, its interpretation. I like it- if they bring down a scrum thats motoring forward, sort it out.

There have always been certain refs who go straight to the post after one try but it does seem more are doing it nowadays. Keatley going for another kick, it would be fairly comfortable in this conditions and in this ground.

I hate that you need to sit and watch three or four resets. Last night in the Ulster game Leinster gave away a penalty, so it was reset. They then did the exact same thing- thats fair enough. We should be trying to limit the number of resets.

Sometimes a rest is justified, and sometime it can be a penalty without being a penalty try, it is up to the ref's interpretation of whether a try could have been scored.
Connacht will be wondering how come there wasn't a yellow for Munster there considering the Harris Wright yellow.

Yeah, absolutely sometimes a reset is justified but if a scrum is in the ascendant and they take it down...

Re: Connacht v Munster
Great bit of play leads to a Connacht lineout in the Munster 22 and they build some more pressure before Parks slots a drop goal.
Gap down to four points. 12-16 to Munster.

Re: Connacht v Munster
High tackle by Downey on Macca, easy penalty to Connacht and Munster down to 14 for the next ten mins.
Parks misses by a foot to the left, still 12-16.

Eoin Griffin is such a classy player. Don't think that was a try, in touch first.
Edit; Try not given, 22 drop out. Unlucky Connacht, the wet pitch did not help Nauppou.

Game finishes 12-16, Connacht really should have won.

Re: Connacht v Munster
If we needed further evidence that Keatley should be starting I think last night showed it, Connacht deserved to win Keatley put in a massive effort to stop Vainikolo's try kicked some massive penalties. Will he be good enough to place ROG? Maybe not (I'm beginning to wonder did we overrate ROG anyway) but he is certainly deserving of a astart, don't let events of 3 years ago sway you. I still believe the IRFU are culpable here.
