Cipriani for the Lions?
First topic message reminder :
Seriously who said that ...hang your head in shame young man!
Not even in the macthday squad for the worst team in NH professional rugby.
Wonder who Mitchell couldve been talking about the other day
You have to ask, did he not already know the kid is a fair weather show boat?
Still competing against players of the claibre of Corne Uys (????) for spots cant be easy
Sale need grafters and a miracle to get out of this mire. The mud may help even the playing field a bit, certainly wont favout Wasps flashy wings and all out attack style.

I've been looking at this group of players ahead of the Christmas period and I certainly know a lot more about some individuals after that performance. Some of the characters have been revealed

Re: Cipriani for the Lions?
Sorry are we now rewritting history to pretend that Cipriani infact single handedly stood up and paper over Mitchells failings to deliver in that game but was hung out to dry for making his teammates look bad?
Read what was said. They dropped him to give him a kick up the backside, and have now recalled him hoping he will actually turn up and do what hes payed for.
Hes a poor misunderstood genius and shouldnt be expected to try if a side isnt winning the game for him? Hes just to good for that team? Is that really what you are trying to argue?

Re: Cipriani for the Lions?
Ha no he does obviously need to work on his tackling.
But rugby is a team sport and one of it's core concepts is respect. For a coach to come out straight after a game and pick out one player to place all of the blame on and then publicly drop for the following weeks match is just terrible man management.
The whole team let Sale down that day, all 23 of them including the sub who in 29 minutes of rugby completed 2 tackles and missed 6, not just the big name player who has a reputation for defensive weakness and is easy to single out.

Re: Cipriani for the Lions?
Might get an idea of whether he's responded tonight against Wuss but it's correct that the whole squad needs to turn up at the same time for a change. There's no way Sharks should be in this mess with the squad they have which does seem to point at management being part of the problem. As for Mitchell in particular can't believe he'll be anything but controversial. Diamond and Kennedy must be pretty hacked off with the way it's going.

Bravo
I'd forgotten that you make that list Pete, must have been going on for years now...
To be fair as curious as I am about Cips form, Sale v Wuss can only be an utterly god awful game to watch.

Re: Cipriani for the Lions?
3 kickable penalties in the first 20 mins isn't a great start for Sharks, 9 down already.

Re: Cipriani for the Lions?
A converted try a piece in the first half. More action then we saw in some of the games last week.

Re: Cipriani for the Lions?
No, Yappy, just keeping an eye on the live score. 2 tries to 1 but that early 9 points for Wuss is the difference so Sharks 14 Wuss 16 at half time.
Re: Cipriani for the Lions?
Indiscipline hurting Sale, Wuss up to 19.

Sale need to win this or there season is as good as over. Especially if LW and LI pick up more points this weekend.

Re: Cipriani for the Lions?
OK, 33 to 27. Sale put in a 3 try performance to get the win and Wuss salvage a losing bonus point. Cips does a full 80 and kicks his points. Would have liked to have seen this one.
Re: Cipriani for the Lions?
Good win in the end. Cips kicking a decent points haul. Worcester pick up a lbp away from home.

Re: Cipriani for the Lions?
Sam, can't see Irish picking anything up against Quins but Welsh could against Wasps and that would increase the gap leaving Irish and Sale a bit adrift.
Yappy, Mitchell might just think the public criticism worked and so be justified.

Re: Cipriani for the Lions?
Dunno Irish are a strange team to play against. If they can sort out their defence they will cause most people problems because their attack game is right up there.

Re: Cipriani for the Lions?
Exactly, if you don't take them seriously enough and are too loose with the ball then they can def punish you. It almost happened to Quins when we travelled to them and I hope we've learnt from that!
Altchw, but was it justified? If Cips had played last week they probably would have beaten Wasps. Would he then have steered them to this win as well and they'd be looking at leapfrogging LI soon?

Re: Cipriani for the Lions?
Yappy, I don't think it was justified but his perception of the outcome might be different. Anyways, it's not going to happen again now Mitchell has jumped ship.
