Saracens vs Bath
I just watched the Saracens vs Bath match in terrible conditions.
Firstly I noted that Saracens plays a very similar defensive gameplan as the Stormers. They doubletackle ball carriers, but don't commit big numbers to the rucks, instead they fan their defensive line and it seems rather effective.
Ashton has had a number of yellow cards this season and tonight once again he had one of those brain dead moments where he tackled (rather stormed) into the Bath fullback when he went up to take a catch from an up an under. He seriously doesn't seem capable of thinking.
Have to say I am very impressed with Schalk Brits' skills, whether it is catching, offloading and even kicking for touch.
Poor old Frans Louw tried his heart out but Bath just never got anything going in the match.
Final score was 25-0

Re: Saracens vs Bath
Saracens have had one of the most aggressive defences in the league for about three seasons now. It's tricky to get through or around them but most teams know that if/when you do and score from it they'll usually struggle to make those points back up. Unless you're Bath.
Did Ashton get yellowed or just a penalty? He's playing like a bit of a berk at the moment, all the inventions gone and he's pretty one dimensional. Not sure what that's about really.
Louw has been a revelation for Bath, their only consistent player. They desperately need some better forwards and backs around him.

No, just a penalty, but should have been yellowed.

Ashton seems to be trying too hard to keep up with the physicality of his new team mates. Being a little more lightweight then them he's over compensating and overstepping the line and is getting pinged. Someone should tell him to relax and just work on his technique.
